I have always found the staff friendly and helpful on the many occasions when I visited my father. The care given to my father during his stay was excellent. I spent many days at Bowood Court during the last days of my father's life and was most impressed by the commitment of the staff, who were also
very kind to us at this time.

The overall love, care, respect, empathy, support and professionalism given to my Mother in Law has been wonderful. Home from home care. Only criticism is the telephone system. Frustrating when you can't get through at times.

Bowood is an excellent care home where staff go the extra mile to meet the needs of the residents. We truly believe that our Mum's two years at Bowood increased her quality of life and its enjoyment, extending her years. When we made the hard decision to put Mum in care, due to her health and dementia
deterioration, we were worried and felt extremely guilty. But that did not last long, as the care she received was outstanding. She was so happy there. Sadly she passed away, but the staff came into their most caring and comforting selves and went the extra mile to ensure she, and us, were supported during her final days.

My mother moved into Bowood Court in June. She had spent two months in various hospitals and decided reluctantly she would no longer be able to look after herself at home. Bowood Court has managed a remarkable turnaround in my mother. She is eating properly, putting on weight, socialising and very happy.
There
is a packed, varied activities programme every morning and afternoon, including weekends - cooking, films, quizz, sherry, crafts, guest singers, etc. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who are everywhere.
After years of worry, I am now happy my mother has the best of care - as are all the family. My husband likes Bowood Court to a four-star hotel. An excellent care home.

I have already recommended it twice for a relative. The head chef knew about 'soft food' fab!. Managed to relax on holiday for two weeks! He had daycare here at Bowood Mews and felt relaxed. The office staff reassured us from day one. My life has changed. Told the social worker how fab it is to bring
to the team.

Everything is more or less satisfactory except that the toilets do not flush efficiently and I think in a care home, it is essential to have toilets that flush properly.

My father went into Bowood Court for respite in January 2019 and could not have had a better experience.
The staff and facilities are excellent and he looks 15 years younger than his 91 years. It hd been a difficult few months watching my dad's decline in care and health and Bowood Court has made it
so much better for him. He has much-needed companionship and interaction, care and kindness. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Mom has lived at Bowood Court for eighteen months, during which time the place has been transformed into the likes of a 5-star hotel. Beautiful surroundings. A place is only as good as it's staff and everyone we have encountered have shown professionalism and understanding throughout. They get to know
the residents and treat them with dignity and care.
Mom couldn't be in better hands in their twilight years.

Carers are polite and helpful, giving answers or referring to who can help us when we have questions. I like the fact that on occasion we're allowed to visit and have dinner with our parents. Also, very happy at the amount of activities laid on for the residents. They have a hairdresser for both men
and women and day trips out for meals or visits to different places.

Each resident is treated as an individual as to their care and needs and my father-in-law refers to it as his home, which is lovely.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.624)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.624) out of 10 for Bowood Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.624 for Bowood Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.624
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowood Court Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 93 registered maximum number of service users is 18.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
