All the staff at Bowood are so loving and kind to my husband, which gives me peace of mind. I know he is safe and won't be neglected or abused. My husband has finally stopped drinking alcohol after 50 years, I never expected to see that happen. The change is linked to ongoing deterioration and health issues. Throughout this journey of change over several weeks/months, the staff have been wonderful. I am truly grateful for their kindness & professionalism

From the moment mum moved into Bowood 6 months ago, the 24 hours care team were so amazing. They were kind, patient and genuinely cared for her. They all had the ability to make her feel safe and happy, which was the most important thing to us. It meant when we visited we could relax and enjoy our time with her. It was the end of life care she received which really meant the most to us. The care, dignity and respect she was shown went above and beyond what we could have hoped for. They couldn't do enough for us either and our memories of what is the most difficult time are so special due to the way we were all treated. The whole team of people who work there are really special and always make time for you.

My mum has spent her last 6 months living very happily at Bowood. Staff have all been exceptional, so friendly & welcoming - real family atmosphere and very homely.

Mum recently died & had end of life care at Bowood. We could not believe how amazing all the staff were. Mum was treated with the upmost care & respect, she died peacefully & we were able to be with her the entire time. The care Mum & we received was first class & very genuine. Thank you all.

The care, love and support shown to mum during her last 6 months stay was truly outstanding. There is a genuine warmth throughout the whole team. It was an incredibly difficult decision for us to move mum into care due to her progressive dementia and frailty. Within weeks she was showing signs of improvement, and enjoying her life again. It was a pleasure to visit her, get to know her carers and other residents - you become part of a big family. Most importantly, mums end of life care was calm, peaceful, dignified and respectful. Both the day and night teams did their upmost to ensure that mum was as comfortable as possible. They also supported us with the same level of care. As mum left Bowood for the very last time, all the staff gathered to pay their respects - incredibly moving and a moment which will stay with my forever. Sincerely, thank you all for making mums last 6 months so good.

From the moment we placed Mum in Bowood Court we became aware of the friendliness of all the staff, from the carers, activities staff cleaners, kitchen, admin and management.
The level of care in what was a difficult time was wonderful to Mum and us, and it made the family confident the right decision had been made.

The home is constantly being cleaned, there are plenty of activities and some lovely areas inside & out to relax in, especially the budgerigar aviary.

Mum had a good stay. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Facilities are kept clean and tidy. Lovely garden with budgies. Good selection of food. Was happy that Mum was safe and looked after. Washing service - some clothes mixed up even though labelled. No sanitary bin for pads. No hot water for a few days - boiler issue. Tablets were not ordered as requested - luckily didn't run out.

My husband and I have been regular visitors to Bowood Court Care Home, visiting my sister on the top floor of the building for the past five years. Over this time, there have been many staff and management changes. All upstairs staff are wonderful and very hardworking, as are the rest of the team, e.g. cleaners, laundry, kitchen staff etc. I haven't yet had the opportunity of meeting the home or care managers as they are relatively new. The care given to my sister is excellent, she appears happy with all members of staff, they care for her with respect and dignity. The food is also very good.

My negative thoughts surrounding the upstairs areas are that it is in need of refurbishment. The carpets are in need of changing, carpets are dirty and sticky underfoot which, in turn, makes the surrounding area smell unpleasant. Also, the windows need cleaning inside and out which would make the areas look a little brighter too.

My father has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's so has challenging and changing care needs. The staff at Bowood Court Care Home, particularly the carers, adapt to his changing needs and always keep in contact with the family to explain how his care plan will change. All of the care team are friendly and very loving towards the residents, which is heartwarming. I know my father is safe and very well cared for, which is so reassuring to our family.

My husband has been in Bowood Court Care Home for two and a half years. Since day one, I have been relieved Bowood was chosen as the "caring" care he gets is second to none. Amazing and wonderful team of staff. All my husband's needs are met at all times. The whole atmosphere at Bowood is one of calm and empathy. This also extends to me as a relative. A "family" care home most certainly. All rooms are kept clean, also corridors etc. They deserve a gold star!

Negative reviews aren't great but it only feels right to do so considering the approach Bowood took towards care. After a short stay, we decided to relocate our Mom after weeks of trying to solve problems with no success. Ongoing dietary problems were never solved, a toileting routine was not established, and no incontinence referral was done. Mom became isolated fast even though we visited regularly as a family. Their approach was to blame us as we hadn't followed their communication pathway even though concerns were discussed with carers, senior carers, care manager, chef, and area manager. Mom went from being very and left to soil herself when needing the toilet. An awful smell got into every item of her clothing, we started taking clothes home to wash so at least she had the dignity of wearing fresh, clean clothes. Moving Mom was the best decision we've made both for us and definitely for her.
