All the staff at Brompton House were extraordinarily patient, kind and thoughtful in caring for my mother through Covid and in recent months. She relied on this as she became increasingly frail. The management of the home was very good during the past year. Having an experienced, attentive and responsive
manager makes a huge difference. Thank you all very much.

Brompton House is a beautiful care home, providing care which is of an extremely high standard.
Activities and general standards of care and love are first class. Food standards are high quality and the activities now offered to my mother-in-law provide mental stimulation and fun. There are often
trips out arranged locally, now that Covid restrictions have been eased. Care and attention to detail during Covid were of a very high standard and remain so. A recent refurbishment of the home has given a high-quality feel to the entire place. Totally recommend Brompton House and its staff. My mother-in-law is very happy at the home and feels loved and cared for.

I am more than satisfied with Brompton House. The manager and her team do a magnificent job in looking after and caring for my mum and other residents. The level of care is extremely high and the attention to detail. The quality of food is also excellent and varied menus which my mum enjoys. The manager
is always available for discussion as and when necessary. Very reassuring.

This was a first-class experience with comfortable sleeping arrangements and very attentive staff. Good quality food and a request for muesli and fruit was satisfactory. The only downside was a reintroduction of some covid 19 regulations, so there was no socialising or activities, so I was very confined.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Brompton House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review and for your very kind words about the attentiveness of the team and the comfortable sleeping arrangements. We are sorry you felt that activity provision could be improved. The team have a diverse programme of activity that all people living in the home are encouraged to attend and help plan, and offer this programme to everyone staying at the home. Sadly, covid restrictions during your stay meant that we couldn’t facilitate relatives joining people in the dining room for lunch and understand the frustration this caused. We are, however, hopeful that this will change as government guidance eases restrictions in care homes.

Very pleased my husband could have respite care at Brompton House Care Home, especially as he could still be cared for by the same doctors. Very caring and pleasant staff.

I was very happy with the care, respect and love that my mother received from all of your staff for the whole time that she was with you and I was always happy that I chose Brompton House Care Home over any other nearby care home. It was clear that mum was gradually deteriorating over the months and
that she was in the best possible place. We could visit over much of that time Covid-19-permitting, telephone at any time even if we couldn’t visit, you all did your very best for her. The caring and nursing staff were professional in their care and communicative with us, anticipating issues before they arose and raising any concerns promptly. They were always so caring and attentive to my frail elderly mother. Mum was a keen gardener in her time, and she was so fortunate to have a ground floor room with French windows overlooking the lovely garden, and even with her failing eyesight she enjoyed spotting a blackbird, viewing the outdoor light and wind in the trees.

My husband is rather complex with conditions including FTD (bv) and type one diabetic. They managed his needs well and with care and dignity, and thought. He looked so well after two weeks here in their care and we will be using Brompton House again on a regular basis. They also communicated with me
really well.

The new home manager at Brompton House is very kind, professional and very thorough and gets things done. She is a really good manager. Since she has been at Brompton House things are dealt with promptly. The nurses are brilliant and look after my mother really well. The carers treat my mother in a
very kind dignified way. The head carer is wonderful to my mother, especially as she is at end of life very sadly. It was definitely the right decision moving her to Brompton House and we wouldn't want her anywhere else. My mother is really well cared for.

My mother, nearing 100, has been living at Brompton House for four years. The kindness and professionalism of the care staff and the nursing team have always given my sister and me complete peace of mind that our mother is receiving the very best care at all times. Communication with us is excellent,
and we have always been kept up to date with developments during the very challenging months of the pandemic. The home is very well appointed. The lounge is set out like a hotel lounge to encourage activity and conversation. Mum is a pianist and she has always been encouraged to play the lounge piano for the staff and residents which have given her great pleasure. The courtyard garden leading off the lounge is lovingly tended and is much used in summer. Meals, all excellent, are served in the dining room where the tables are always dressed with freshly laundered linen and flowers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brompton House to anyone seeking a first-class home for a loved one

Over the last month, I've been having continual health problems and feel that the utmost care has been given to me at this time. I don't know how I would have coped if I wasn't here at this time in my life. The staff are friendly and banter with many of them. They care in lots of ways. The nurses are
here to help me at all times and I appreciate all of them. The manager will come in and talk with me of an evening and I find her very good and any concerns she will always listen.

My dad goes into Brompton House for regular respite breaks to see my mum who is a permanent resident. The staff are exceptional, they always welcome dad and make a fuss of him. Despite the lockdown, the atmosphere is lively because the staff work hard to be kind to residents and always have time for
a chat. It is the attitude and dedication of the whole team which makes Brompton special. Everyone is committed to giving the residents the best quality of life. Thank youi.

My mum came into Brompton House on an emergency placement, which was nearly a year ago! I cannot fault the way in which the home as a whole has provided and still providing the utmost care for my mum. All her needs are met at this difficult time! The manager clearly runs a good, warm, friendly hardworking
team, from all departments into making this home what it is. Thank you.

My mum has been living at Brompton House for nearly 4 years. I can say with confidence that she is genuinely and visibly happy there. Mum has very complex needs and relies on continuity of care and staff knowing her well in order to pick up on subtle changes in her demeanour which may indicate she is
unwell. In the 4 years, the staff have never failed her and have always responded quickly and appropriately when her needs have changed. Brompton is a home with a huge heart and I feel so lucky mum is there.

My mother went into Brompton House direct from a six-week spell in hospital. Whilst she could not have been the easiest of residents, she was treated throughout her stay with care and dignity.
I cannot speak too highly of the caring, nursing and management staff at the home as they did their utmost
to make her as comfortable as possible. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble. I was constantly kept up to date on her condition throughout her stay of which I was very grateful.

Outstanding manager. The manager here at Brompton went above and beyond the call of duty to assure my mother stopped being moved from pillar to post since December 2019 to March 2020 at the hospital. Then COVID happened!! Mum was very welcomed into this outstanding home, full of smiles and laughter,
even at these hard times, care and kindness from all. Mum had a few hiccups along her journey but here is where I am happy for her to be. Thank you.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.233) out of 10 for Brompton House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.433 for Brompton House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.433
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brompton House Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
