Mum was admitted to Elmhurst for palliative care in September 2018. As a family, we have been thrilled with the personal care and attention afforded to Mum throughout her stay. The management team and staff at all levels have been magnificent, demonstrating great kindness to Mum and at all times welcoming to the family. We have been delighted with the progress made by Mum and feel that this is testimony, both to the professionalism and personal qualities of the staff. Mum certainly enjoys a good deal of banter with her carers! Elmhurst offers a wide range of activities and Mum is unable to join in at present. However, the staff ensure that she does not feel isolated. All in all, it's been a heartwarming experience to date.

I had been looking for respite care for my mum-in-law and had visited 9 care homes. Many of the staff were lovely and the rooms great but there was always something that made me keep looking. Within minutes of seeing Elmhurst and meeting the manager, it was obvious this was somewhere special.
Mum-in-law stayed for 3 weeks and I cannot speak highly enough of the care she received. The staff and management really care and provide as near a ‘home from home’ atmosphere as possible. Mum was treated with dignity and kindness and said the staff were lovely and that she felt she was being ‘looked after”.
The refurbishment has been done to a high standard and whilst still practical it is stylish and comfortable for the residents. Both rooms and clothing are kept immaculately.

For me, Elmhurst is head and shoulders above other care homes I visited and I would not hesitate to recommend.

When searching for a care home for my friend, my first impression of Elmhurst was of a lovely place being refurbished with love and care.
Having now seen how my dearest friend was treated with every bit of much love and care, I have nothing but admiration both for the management and indeed every single member of staff.
My friend grew to love and trust them all and they made the last few months of her life both comfortable and as happy as possible.
Her end of life care was exemplary.
I have told my daughter that if I ever become too difficult to manage she is to send me there.

I couldn't go anywhere better.

I cannot speak too highly about the staff, very friendly and courteous. The home is privately owned and from the owner down, this is reflected through the staff. The home is being refurbished to a really good standard. My mother always remarks on how nice the food is, the rooms are cleaned regularly and mums clothes are always kept neat and tidy.

Mum was only with you for 9 days - yet I can honestly say she was treated with the respect, professional care and kindness as if she were a member of your own family and for that, we will always be grateful. The refurbished building is going to be fantastic and in such a beautiful rural setting. But it is the new management that makes the difference. I cannot praise the staff enough.

From the initial assessment to the last few hours of our mother’s life, you were all amazing. I know that mum received the best of care. The manager, well I shall never forget the way you spoke to mum, with great sympathy and tenderness, yet with clarity and professionalism. You also knew how desperately tired and of course heart-broken we were and you helped us through that tortuous process with compassion too. What an incredible job. This is such a sad time in anyone’s life. I’d like other families to know that their loved one will be looked after in a tremendously supportive and compassionate environment.

Since the new owners and management took control of Elmhurst, it is clear to see that they have a passion for what they do and the way they treat their residents. They came in with plans to refurbish the home and have just moved their current residents into the 1st refurbished wing. The quality and standard of work carried out is extremely good. My Mum loves her new room and along with the new technology they have incorporated into the refurbishment, I am happy in my mind that she is living in a safe, secure and friendly environment where her dignity is respected at all times. The staff at the home are very caring and nothing seems to much trouble for them. The second phase of the refurbishment is now underway and the new owners should be commended for the way they have raised the standards of the home. I would not have any problem recommending Elmhurst to anyone looking for residential care.
