I judge the quality of the care home mainly by the quality of the staff. At Oldbury, they are well qualified, conscientious and very considerate of the needs of the patients. The food is exceptionally good, being well prepared and professionally administered where necessary. It is quite hard to get good entertainment in Bridgnorth, nevertheless, a good standard is maintained throughout the year. Visitors' requests are invariably granted, eg being allowed to take a resident out on to the patio. Regular resident reviews are held and information about their medication is always available. The care home manager is frequently about and is always happy to discuss any problems.

My mother has advanced dementia and has been a resident in Oldbury Grange for 6 months. Her room is excellent and always kept very clean. The staff are all very caring and treat her with patience and kindness. I am given a programme every month so I know what activities she is involved in and she is encouraged to take part as far as she is able. The food is good and she enjoys her meals.

My father moved to Oldbury Grange when his previous home closed. He had been in the previous home for 2 years. Initially, I was very concerned because the care homes were so different, the last home had 14 residents, Oldbury Grange has about 100 I would think. There was no need to worry, he has all of his needs catered for. He is 97 with dementia and totally immobile. The care he receives is second to none and the nurses and carers are very kind and caring.

The staff at this home have a genuine care and knowledge of all residents. There is a warmth that radiates out from all within the home and it is evident that the caring culture runs throughout the home and the company. We couldn't ask for a better home to care for our father's well-being and needs.

My husband and I visited from France, our country of residence, on Monday 27th June for approximately 50 minutes. My Uncle has been resident at Oldbury Grange for some time (approx 12-18 months). This is the first review I have had time to complete. On our most recent visit, care and support for him and ourselves was first class during our time with him. We, as ever, were treated (all of us) with compassion, dignity and respect. He was very clean and tidy. His en-suite bathroom however was dirty - soiled wc, which is unacceptable and was brought to the immediate attention of a member of the care team. Hopefully prompt action taken. Clearly no idea if this is a one-off. Finally thanks to the registered nurse I sought out for a concise and clear update on his health and well-being. Much appreciated!

Reply from Susan Barton, Home Manager at Oldbury Grange Nursing Home

We were deeply concerned to hear about any aspect of our resident’s environment being anything other than spotless. We pride ourselves on this and as soon as this was pointed out we immediately rectified the situation. We must reassure you that we take cleanliness very seriously as part of the ‘home from home’ environment that we work hard to create for all our residents.

A beautiful home in a wonderful setting with countryside views. Initial meeting confirmed we had finally found the perfect place for end of life care for dad, from the well informed receptionist who showed us the well appointed rooms. Everywhere was clean, bright and didn't smell. Quite spacious communal areas, where everyone was encouraged to take part or just watch activities. There was no one just sitting around the TV - a septate area.

All the staff from the kitchen staff, housekeeping and nursing greeted us with a friendly 'hello' and you could see how everyone cared for the residents as individuals who had their own needs.

The food was excellent with a varied menu, which catered for each step of dads needs. Housekeeping was very thorough, cleaning was of a high standard, every resident in clean clothes everyday. Personal Hygiene was treated in a dignified manner.

Residents in nursing care - doors were left open to include them in the home. Alarms were answered on time, always enough staff around to sit and spent time with the residents.
Nursing - each step of dads care was discussed with us, we were advised and always made aware of what was happening.

At all times dad was treated with respect, dignity, and with loving care in a professional manner. We can't recommend the nursing home highly enough. There wasn't any area we felt that could be improved upon - it exceeded our expectation.

After visiting 8 quality nursing homes in the area we arrived at Oldbury Grange and knew at our first visit, this was the one. Our first contact with the reception admin was so warm and comforting to help us deal with a difficult situation. Then we met with the nursing team; as a registered nurse, I can testify that the standard of nursing care from every member of the team was exceptional.

My dad has a terminal illness; the professionalism, love, concern and support to not only my dad but to all of our family made his final months as happy, safe, comfortable and as pain free as possible. This also was evident in interactions we witnessed with other residents. The care was my priority but it just happens the home is situated overlooking beautiful rolling hills. Facility is very clean and bright.

I came to stay in Oldbury Grange for 2 weeks respite care following a knee replacement operation on Nov 9th. I was very impressed with the nursing and general care given to me by all the staff during my stay. Everyone I came into contact with were always so pleasant and caring about my welfare. I also noticed the care given to the other residents in the nursing home was of a very high standard.

My mother had been in hospital for 4 months prior to arriving at Oldbury and with their help she was able to move back into her own home after 4 months.
Everyone went out of their way to be kind and helpful and I am convinced that if my mother had gone to another home she may not be as well as she is today.
Visitors are made to feel involved and welcome too and it was a pleasure to visit.

I cannot recommend them highly enough.
