From our very first visit to The Vicarage (even before my Father came to live there in November), we were met with compassion, kindness and care. When he arrived there from hospital, we were waiting there for him, having already been greeted once again in an amazingly caring way. The staff and management,
right from the very beginning went the extra mile in every way and as an entire family we are hardly able to express our thanks enough to them. The home itself is just that, HOME.A wonderful place. Beautifully clean and a really loving, friendly environment. We could not have dreamt of my father being any better placed. We all love the staff (and management) and they have made us ALL feel at home, welcome and cared for and they thoroughly look after all my Dad's needs. The nursing care is excellent especially as my Dad has quite complex needs. Nothing is too much trouble, and this extends to their excellent chefs and kitchen staff, all of the care team, reception staff and management

My father in law has been a resident for almost 3 years, and in that time I can honestly say he has had the most tender and professional of care by all carers at The Vicarage.

The outstanding quality of food, catering to my father in law's taste, is massive positive factor and gives the family confidence

that he will always enjoy the meals.

The carers are a wonderful cohort, always courteous and caring of all residents, confident in their abilities to cope with all situations that can occur.

A wonderful Care Home for my father in law.

My Dad has been at the Vicarage over two years now. We as a family are extremely happy with his care. The staff are absolutely amazing with my Dad. We visit our Dad twice a week .there is always a big smile and a lovely welcome from the staff on arrival.. The home is a clean and happy environment .
Food is great ,if Dad is not liking what is on the menu ,then the chef always makes something else to his taste.

We had to make a prompt decision on finding a suitable nursing home for my father
When we came to look around, every single member of staff welcomed us warmly including the maintenance man.
We have been so pleased with our choice.
The care team and management team are all wonderful
The communication
is second to none. James, the director is easily available and if I need to communicate with him out of hours, he is extremely responsive
My father is so well looked after. He is always clean, well-groomed and very well fed.
Whenever we go to see my father, we are offered a welcome cup of tea.
Bi-monthly, there is a meeting where activities, menus, nursing and caring team are discussed
Any feedback we give, is taken positively
We can walk away each time we visit knowing we have entrusted our father to a kind, professional and wonderful team

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been a resident at the Vicarage for nearly 18 months.
We have been so lucky as a family, as the choice of nursing home was made (with consultation) by a social worker due to Mums deteriorating dementia.
Mum was warmly welcomed as were her family. She unfortunately had a fall a matter of weeks
after her arrival, necessitating hip surgery.
Her nursing care on her return was outstanding. The dedication and compassion shown and genuine care and attention given to mum during this time I think is testament to her recovery.
The Vicarage has a clean homely atmosphere with a very friendly environment and open visiting. The food all prepared on site and Mum's likes/dislikes taken into account. High quality activities for residents are frequent and family engagement actively encouraged.
I feel reassured that Mum is in being well cared for by a professional 'team' of staff
at The Vicarage.
Reply from James Ephraims, Director at Vicarage Care Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review Pauline.

My dad was admitted at short notice when very frail, it was a hard and sad time for our family. We were instantly reassured by the staff team and management that my dad would be looked after. The care staff have a consistent positive attitude - all the staff were engaging with us and my dad and went
above and beyond to make our final time with him comfortable and dignified. The staff even put a sofa in the room and extra chairs so me and my family could sleep and be comfortable when visiting, food and drinks also. Compared to other care homes there was so much care and compassion demonstrated towards my father and my family. Il be forever grateful.
The activities were tasteful and regular - going is all something to do and watch during the days. The food was excellent and we were always offered cooked dinners too.
Reply from James Ephraims, Director at Vicarage Care Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review.
We understand how difficult this time was for you and your family, and we are very grateful that you trusted us to care for your dad. It means a great deal to know that our team helped make his final days comfortable and dignified, while also supporting your family.
Your lovely comments about our staff, activities and food will be shared with the whole team.
Thank you again - it was a privilege to care for your dad.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.988)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.988) out of 10 for Vicarage Care Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Vicarage Care Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.127 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vicarage Care Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.577
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
