My sister has been a resident at Morris Care Centre for ten years. She has been looked after very well over that time. The pandemic was very difficult for everyone but the staff did a very good job helping me to keep in touch with my sister, a lot of improvements have been made at Morris Care in the last few months and this is very beneficial for everyone concerned. The care/support is excellent as is the activities staff.

My 22-year-old grandson has complex needs that have been met by Morris Care. The majority of the staff are very caring and friendly. The main areas have been decorated recently and create a lovely homely feel. The main carer for my grandson is excellent and has developed a very good relationship with him.

Reply from Stacie Smith, General Manager at Wellington Hall Care Centre

Thank you for the review. We are delighted he has settled and feels at home. He is a delight for us all to support and am pleased that the 1-1 consistent approach of care has supported in him maintaining a great relationship to ensure his care is person-centred. I will be sure to pass on this lovely review to the team and especially his main carer.

My father is new to the care home system and the staff have a genuine affection for him, their professional manner has eased him into feeling very comfortable and in his own words 'cared for'.
The month of June had a change of residence to a smaller group, and access to the garden with extra activities to be planned.

Their close scrutiny saw a suddenly developed health concern, rapidly treated in hospital.

Morris Care Centre is an excellent care centre. Everything I need to do they have helped me with and the staff are very helpful. I am independent but help is there straight away if I need it. The general support is excellent, the activities encourage me to mix with people as I am very sociable. I also enjoy helping out the activity people and I run the little shop in the afternoons which I enjoy. I have made a good friend here with one of the residents and we have a premium television provider and a subscription video streaming service to watch in the evening. We love the sport and films. In my opinion having regular staff to look after me is a good thing as they get to know me and I get to know them and it just works well for everybody! If you need to talk to senior management they are very supportive, trustworthy and they always find time for me. I am very happy here, it's a nice place to be! I treat it as my home with the added benefit of having the care staff to look after me.

My mom was in this care home. She was treated with disrespect. She called carers outside her door, 2 of them, to be told to shut up! Also, they double-padded her and was told she was only allowed 2 pads a day so she stopped drinking and ended up with a very bad water infection, ending up in hospital on a drip. She was in a very bad way. Nurses at the hospital told us a lot of Morris care residents end up in the hospital! My mom has Parkinson’s, 87 years old. I did put in a complaint but it was put down by the manager saying it was untrue. I’ve spoken to carers that have worked there, they soon left, terrible place to work. I think that says it all. I’m going to the Care Quality Commission so others don’t go through what my mom went through. It’s about time cameras are fitted to a central hub, not the care home.

The dementia unit is a small unique care home that caters for all stages of dementia. Its 11 rooms are all on the ground floor with excellent facilities (ensuite, spacious, clean and bright). The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff are kind, considerate and qualified. Nothing is too much trouble, and they go above and beyond with their care. The garden is peaceful and offers a bright place to sit/walk around. Security is 100% - double door locked access, windows are partial opening in rooms.

My mum had a very short stay to receive palliative care, following a stay in hospital. I could not have wished for better care, kindness and attention from all staff who had any involvement with my mum. She was treated with such care and dignity, nothing was rushed. The room was spotlessly clean, and had everything mum and visitors could need when staying with her. We were provided with ample drinks and even sandwiches to keep us comfortable during her last day, meaning we didn't have to worry about anything and could just be there for mum. From the moment she went in, until my final walk out of the centre, I can not fault anything and I am so pleased that her final days were spent at such a brilliantly run home, with amazing, dedicated and professional staff. Thank you from all her family.

Mom went to Morris Care on palliative care from hospital. Although they are very short-staffed mom was treated with care and compassion, the staff on moms floor were helpful and friendly and treated me the same way mom was treated.

Mom passed away with dignity at Morris Care just before Christmas which could have been so much worse for everyone if she had gone to hospital.

The so-called care my 95-year-old mother received at this home was nothing short of shocking. She was in for physiotherapy following a fall which broke her pelvis in 2 places. The permanent staff did their best with the resources they had, but the level of care still fell well short of what it should have been. Buzzer not answered when she needed the toilet, left in bed for 16 hours until noon, lying in her own urine, cold food are only a few of the issues. So much so that I made sure a family member was with her all day until she was put to bed at night. I got her out of there as quickly as possible. I want to reiterate that in no way do I blame the permanent staff.

Thank you for raising your concerns regarding your mother's care, I was sorry to hear your account of her care and that you felt our care fell short of the standards you expected and that we strive to achieve. I have just taken what I thought was an extra fan down to my mother. When I arrived, I was met by the usual friendly and helpful staff in reception and on mums floor. My issue is that during a heatwave such as we are having, not a single fan was in evidence. Even the fan I put in her room last year was now faulty so she lay on her bed, rosy in the face and sweaty. I would have thought that the not inconsiderable fees would cover the cost of a fan for each room at least.

Mum entered Morris Care in 2018 when she was a very ill woman. With close attention and sensitive care, the negative trend was reversed and she now has very good health for her age. The pandemic period was very difficult and presented many challenges. Hopefully, we are now through that period and my mum will continue to relate positively to the sensitive attention which contributes greatly to her improving quality of life.

Being apprehensive placing Mum in a nursing home, firstly, as she required 24-hour care, within a few weeks soon realised this was the correct place for her to be and settled well. This was all due to the care and attention from the staff, reception and to the floor of all the staff housekeepers included, nothing is too much trouble.

My late mum, aged 93, was transferred from hospital to Morris Care Wellington after breaking her femur, for physio to mobilise so she could return home. What a nightmare time it became. The care staff did their best under the circumstances. Getting through on the phone was a daily grind, both my brother and I spent hours trying to speak to someone who knew what was going on and how Mum was. They never got her proffered name correct all the time she was there, confusion.com had nothing on the system they blamed constantly for no, or worse wrong, information being passed on. If you complain it makes it worse. When they had lost most of Mum's clothing they would stick her in anything. When looking for the lost clothing there were apparently many boxes to check, that says a lot for a system not working properly. In total seven T-shirt’s, two skirts, one trousers, two night dresses and I lost count of how many pairs of pants went missing. When electrical equipment disappeared that was denied and dismissed by management!

Reply from Vanessa Davies, Head of Operations at Wellington Hall Care Centre

We are sorry you felt your mothers stay was so poor. I did respond to your initial complaint detailing that all clothing coming in with a resident needed to be labelled otherwise it gets lost because our laundry staff are not aware of who it belongs to, you were also informed of what your mother...
