Mum transferred to Autumn House 12 months ago due to her previous care home stating that they could not meet her needs. Autumn House staff helped her settle in and have maintained her fluids and nutrition. Mum is well cared for and as I visit 5 days a week, I see the care she and the other residents
receive, which is professional and caring.

Mum feels content here. All of the staff are very kind caring and friendly. The home is very well decorated and clean creating a very pleasant atmosphere, although Mum's bedroom is in need of decoration. We are very happy with the way Mum is being looked after.

My auntie sadly passed away in Autumn House Nursing Home on 10th October, following a long period of living there. I am a registered nurse and have worked in the NHS as such for forty-two years. I was so impressed to see the nursing standards we were taught all those years ago were in place in this
home. The staff were caring and supportive of both my auntie and the family alike. The care she was given was excellent. She was treated with dignity throughout, turned two hourly, beautifully clean and presented and actual oral care was performed every 30 minutes. I haven’t seen this happen for many years when visiting family in the main hospital. The home was welcoming, the staff obviously knew my auntie well, they came in regularly when we were visiting just to check we were ok. The whole ethos of care was excellent in the end-of-life situation.
Thank you all for your care, keep up the good work.

Mum has been in Autumn House since April, and I feel that she has settled in. Autumn House is a calm, clean and hospitable environment. All the staff are really friendly and caring towards Mum and ensure that all her needs are met. Nothing is too much trouble. It is lovely to visit Mum and chat with
staff and visitors. Our friends and family who have visited, have been positive about Autumn House.
I only wish that I had known about Autumn House when Mum needed respite care earlier this year.

My aunty is in Autumn House Nursing Home. As soon as you walk in you can feel the warmth of the place and there was a fabulous welcome at the door. Staff are super friendly and nothing's too much trouble, no matter what you ask, they're always on hand. Rooms are fabulous and clean and it’s looking even
better with all the new decor, well pleased.

The home is a clean, bright and welcoming environment, patient rooms are a good size providing adequate space for 2-3 visitors comfortably.
All the staff portrayed happy, kind and caring attributes and always made time for both patients and visitors.
Our experience was brief over 3 weeks of palliative
care, I cannot praise all the staff at all levels enough.
A most difficult time was dealt with great care and kindness, with excellent communication.
Thank you all.

I used Autumn House for a four week respite stay and found that the home, in general, gave me an experience superior to what I had expected. All the staff, without exception, provided everything I needed and I would have no regrets in recommending this home to anyone.

Autumn House were able to accommodate my husband at relatively short notice. I personally found management extremely informative and supportive whilst we were in a situation of dire need. My husband has told me that the nursing and care staff were extremely efficient, friendly and made him feel at ease
and happy. Should the situation ever arise where he requires permanent nursing care, Autumn House is where he would like to be.

My mum moved into Autumn House at the end of April for palliative care arranged by the hospital after she was given just weeks. The staff were great when they attended to my mum but sometimes she waited up to half an hour for someone to go into her when she was in a mess and that's when either me or
my daughter were there. A week before she died at the home, a carer who had attended to my mum earlier that afternoon came in at 6.50 pm, ten minutes after I'd buzzed for help. I explained she had messed herself and she needed 2 carers because she'd gone off her legs earlier that day. He turned her buzzer off saying he'd get someone else to help and didn't return. After another 15 minutes I buzzed again and a night carer came to see to her. She did get another carer. They are unstaffed for the residents' needs. It really upset me and am still angry a month after her death.

Apart from the few, the staff and management were rude/unhelpful and shouldn't even be in the job. I made many complaints and this was repeated continuously by myself about the same issues and about just the basics of care. Any problems I did have were always resolved by one member of staff who was
professional and always willing to assist. She was always the first and last face to see.
Reply from Alex Hartles, Operations Manager at Autumn House Nursing HomeDear family member, Autumn House management and staff are sorry that you feel the care your loved one received while they resided at home was not up to the standard you expected. My director met with you and your husband to discuss the issues and rectify these. He apologised for the issues not being resolved at an earlier point and agreed with many of your points, he spoke with management and they put into place a new plan for the resident.
As a company, we strive to try to deliver care to a high standard, however, we understand that situations like this can arise but we aim on being open and transparent which allows us to deal with any issues.
Wishing you all the best.

Mum spent her final four months in Autumn House. She settled quite quickly following a few months in hospital. The staff here are very pleasant and caring and I always felt Mum was in good hands and very well cared for, and so did she. Autumn House also seems well-run and organised.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.862) out of 10 for Autumn House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.962 for Autumn House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (177 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 184 Ratings = 4.962
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Autumn House Nursing Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
