Conifers Nursing Home

It was a very hard and difficult decision for Mom to move into Conifers. She has dementia and was unsafe in her own home. From the minute she arrived in May, all staff have been fantastic with her. If is hard knowing Mom is not living independently, but so welcoming and a huge worry lifted, knowing she is safe. She has met some lovely friends and is kept occupied by all the fantastic activities that Pinky organises for the residents.

The staff go above and beyond to ensure that the residents are well cared for and have plenty of activities to participate in. Living overseas, the peace of mind that we are provided with knowing that our mom is cared for is priceless. Thanks to everyone for your commitment to your residents.

Conifers is a friendly welcoming nursing home. My dad is washed and dressed every day. His room is always clean and tidy. The staff try very hard to include him in all the activities, which are varied, well planned and good fun. The sitting areas and dining room are clean and very comfy. The outside spaces are well maintained and very nice to spend time in. The staff have gone above and beyond to meet his needs I feel very happy and don't worry about my dad.

My mom has been a resident here now since April 2026. Staff are very friendly. Clean & comfortable place. Patients are very well looked after. Us as a family are happy with mom staying here.

Conifers has changed my Nan's life. At home, she was bed bound, never slept, sitting in bed all day and night in the dark with the TV blaring. Since moving to Conifers, nan has become engaged and so much more settled. The staff are fantastic, her room is clean and pleasant, she eats really well, she's made friends, and she is up and about. What we couldn't do for her at home, the Conifers team have done for her, and more. I trust them to look after nan, and that on its own is an incredible relief. To know that your loved one is safe and happy, is worth more than money can buy.

Mum is so well looked after. The staff are very caring and considerate to Mums needs , and she is very happy. Family can visit whenever we like, and get a friendly welcome from the Admin Team , Reception, and Catering staff.

My mom has flourished at Conifers. We love to see her having fun in activities! All of the staff are friendly and approachable, always happy to answer any questions we have regarding mom's health.

Since I came here and have help and kindness. The management and staff go out of the way to help. Entertainment is very very good and members of staff join in. It is a happy place to be in.

Over the last few years, my wife has had various falls and now dementia. The Conifers was recommended to us and my wife has stayed their for several weeks for respite. I can honestly say, from the office staff to kitchen workers and the laundry lady, the lovely carers. it has helped myself recharge my batteries for another few months. So all in all you would struggle to find a more friendly day to day caring home.

Our short experience with Conifers whilst our Nan was bought in for end-of-life care was full of kindness, honesty, and high-level care. The staff always made sure she was as comfortable as possible, treating her with dignity and respect. The girls made us feel welcome and helped us with my two-year-old son who often liked to meet the residents. If paying, it's more expensive than other homes, so the cost is a little high.

From first arriving and signing in the fire register, the front of house administration office workers are all friendly and competent. Next port of call is usually the carers, cleaners and kitchen staff that I meet in the corridors, again all friendly and busy at their work. The senior nursing staff are always helpful and competent, knowledgeable about my wife's care requirements and will take on constructive advice from myself who cared for her beforehand. My wife is happy with care she receives and hasn't a poor word to say for any of the regular staff. Her only complaint is the quality of care from agency workers who cover sick leave or absences, they are not well aware of the residents regular requirements.

Mum has been a resident of the Conifers since June 2022. In the last 2 years, I have had no occasion to doubt that all her needs are met and that she is treated with kindness. In the last few months since Mum has been deteriorating the staff have gone out of their way to make sure she is comfortable at all times. As she is nonverbal all her needs are second-guessed by the staff. I have nothing but good things to say about The Conifers.

Our dad was at the home up to Nov 23. We would have to constantly ask for him to be washed/shaved. He lost weight. The nurse was unapproachable, the management wasn't supportive. Dad had suffered a stroke and couldn't talk, walk or do anything for himself. He was put in front of a TV every day with no stimulation. He ended up in hospital with Aspiration Pneumonia which according to the hospital was caused by him being rushed or not sat up during his meals. He should've also been prescribed anti-seizure meds but wasn't so went on to have seizures. He died at the home. It was only then when we felt the nurse's support. I have since found out the nurse was under investigation from the CQC for bullying of the staff, residents and relatives. I was shocked to hear the nurse had been allowed to work her notice during this time. I would like to say that the majority of the carers were excellent and the new office manager was also excellent. Please note my review is based on the time my dad was at the home.

The recent rating by CQC is in my opinion correct. Several improvements have been made but nothing is consistent. Lots of basic training needs revisiting frequently, reviewing the practice by management. On the positive the majority of staff are cheerful and do respect the residents.
