The Conifers provides short-term, long-term and respite care services (nursing, residential and palliative) for both men and women over 60.

The Conifers is located in the village of Great Wyrley and is convenient for Cannock and Walsall. There is a regular bus service and major rail and road networks are within easy reach.

Accommodation is offered in two double and 36 single rooms, the majority of which are with en-suite facilities. Communal areas include: two lounges, two dining areas and a quiet room. The home also has a salon for a visiting hairdresser. Floors are accessed via a passenger lift and each floor has an assisted bathroom and shower. Residents are welcome to furnish their room with personal possessions.

The Conifers has a beautifully designed garden for residents to enjoy both from inside and out.

The home offers a variety of activities to suit all tastes and abilities and a co-ordinator is available every morning.

The home has held the Investors in People Award since 2003.

Over the last few years, my wife has had various falls and now dementia. The Conifers was recommended to us and my wife has stayed their for several weeks for respite. I can honestly say, from the office staff to kitchen workers and the laundry lady, the lovely carers. it has helped myself recharge
my batteries for another few months. So all in all you would struggle to find a more friendly day to day caring home.

Our short experience with Conifers whilst our Nan was bought in for end-of-life care was full of kindness, honesty, and high-level care. The staff always made sure she was as comfortable as possible, treating her with dignity and respect. The girls made us feel welcome and helped us with my two-year-old
son who often liked to meet the residents. If paying, it's more expensive than other homes, so the cost is a little high.

From first arriving and signing in the fire register, the front of house administration office workers are all friendly and competent. Next port of call is usually the carers, cleaners and kitchen staff that I meet in the corridors, again all friendly and busy at their work. The senior nursing staff
are always helpful and competent, knowledgeable about my wife's care requirements and will take on constructive advice from myself who cared for her beforehand. My wife is happy with care she receives and hasn't a poor word to say for any of the regular staff. Her only complaint is the quality of care from agency workers who cover sick leave or absences, they are not well aware of the residents regular requirements.

My Mom has been in the Conifers for over 18 months now and the care is great and very supportive. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and friendly.
I get contact from the home if there are any problems with Mom, her care, or her physical health.

Mum has been a resident of the Conifers since June 2022. In the last 2 years, I have had no occasion to doubt that all her needs are met and that she is treated with kindness. In the last few months since Mum has been deteriorating the staff have gone out of their way to make sure she is comfortable
at all times. As she is nonverbal all her needs are second-guessed by the staff. I have nothing but good things to say about The Conifers.

Our dad was at the home up to Nov 23. We would have to constantly ask for him to be washed/shaved. He lost weight. The nurse was unapproachable, the management wasn't supportive. Dad had suffered a stroke and couldn't talk, walk or do anything for himself. He was put in front of a TV every day with
no stimulation. He ended up in hospital with Aspiration Pneumonia which according to the hospital was caused by him being rushed or not sat up during his meals. He should've also been prescribed anti-seizure meds but wasn't so went on to have seizures. He died at the home. It was only then when we felt the nurse's support. I have since found out the nurse was under investigation from the CQC for bullying of the staff, residents and relatives. I was shocked to hear the nurse had been allowed to work her notice during this time. I would like to say that the majority of the carers were excellent and the new office manager was also excellent. Please note my review is based on the time my dad was at the home.

Having had several conversations with different management it still appears that communication between staff is being, or should I say ignored. The food is a concern, both the quality of meat, but more worryingly meals served cold, more often than not. Within the resident's room folder, there is a copy
of set menus over a 4-week period, it reads okay, reality is far different.
The recent rating by CQC is in my opinion correct. Several improvements have been made but nothing is consistent. Lots of basic training needs revisiting frequently, reviewing the practice by management. On the positive the majority of staff are cheerful and do respect the residents.

Absolutely cannot fault the care and empathy given to my father-in-law and ourselves. It was a very short stay; however, he was so well looked after by the staff members and nothing was too much to them. Would recommend it to everyone. It is the staff that make the home so very welcoming and who actively
go above and beyond for the patients as some are not easy to deal with.

The care was excellent. The staff were excellent. I would highly recommend this home to others and have done. Communication was at times not great, we could have known that items were needed ie toiletries, new cloths (due to weight loss) sometimes we weren't made aware of incidents (small medical/dental
issues). All of this has improved over time though. The last three years have been pretty good.

We were very pleased with the running and the care. They always treated my husband with dignity and respect at all times. Couldn't have wished for him to have been in a better nursing home. Thanks to them my husband is back home.

Following a stressful time in hospital (including Covid), my dad needed rest and care to get him ready to come home. He was treated well and with dignity and the nurses were very caring.

I don't live locally so I am unable to visit my relative as much as I would wish but the staff and management keep me well-informed which is a great comfort to me and communication with my relative is excellent. Where do I begin, I don't feel I have to worry about Dad being safe, well looked after, clean, and fed. The Conifers have a homely warm feel to them. The staff are caring and considerate. I would highly recommend the Conifers Nursing Home to others who want good care for their loved ones.

Amazing advice and care. My mom came after being neglected by a previous care home. Following hospital intervention, she has settled back into her old self with the support and care of all staff. Forever grateful. My mom came in dehydrated, unable to eat or communicate and unable to walk. She is now

I have recently lost my mother-in-law who was a resident of Conifers Nursing Home. She had Alzheimer's disease dementia and had been deteriorating gradually due to her illness. She had been cared for wonderfully at the nursing home and had enjoyed her time there prior to her sudden downturn.
It is
a terrible illness to watch take hold of your loved one but the care, consideration and professionalism of this home made it much easier for us to cope. Knowing she was being cared for so well was a boon to the whole family and the home policies during Covid19 have been exemplary.
We would heartily recommend Conifers Nursing Home to anyone who wishes their loved one to be cared for with dignity, consideration and professionalism and we cannot thank them enough for their kindness and consideration to her and to our family.

Thanks so much to everyone at The Conifers, we were so lucky that social services allocated my mum to this home, under extremely difficult circumstances on Christmas Eve of all days! As soon as we went inside it was immediately obvious how clean and comfortable it looked. Mum settled in very quickly,
despite her Alzheimers, and water infection, which can usually upset her if things change. But I've got to say, the staff here are incredible and I'm so, so grateful to know she's cared for and loved as if she's one of their family. Having visited a number of care and nursing homes, I say this is at the top of my list. Well done all of you and a huge thank you.
