Following a stressful time in hospital (including Covid), my dad needed rest and care to get him ready to come home. He was treated well and with dignity and the nurses were very caring.
Reply from Amy Haughton, Office Manager at Conifers Nursing HomeThank you for your kind review, we are glad that you felt that your dad's needs were met with dignity and high standards of care.
We will pass your kind words on to the staff.

I don't live locally so I am unable to visit my relative as much as I would wish but the staff and management keep me well-informed which is a great comfort to me and communication with my relative is excellent. I have found all staff to be friendly, efficient and caring. My relative is very happy at
Conifers and the care support given to him is excellent. Many thanks to all the staff and management for all they do.

Where do I begin, I don't feel I have to worry about Dad being safe, well looked after, clean, and fed. The Conifers have a homely warm feel to them. The staff are caring and considerate. I would highly recommend the Conifers Nursing Home to others who want good care for their loved ones.

Professional, personable and understanding of difficult circumstances. Doing 'extra' to support the resident's attitude which cascaded from the management through all of the team.

Amazing advice and care. My mom came after being neglected by a previous care home. Following hospital intervention, she has settled back into her old self with the support and care of all staff. Forever grateful. My mom came in dehydrated, unable to eat or communicate and unable to walk. She is now
doing all these things and has a great quality of life living here.

I have recently lost my mother-in-law who was a resident of Conifers Nursing Home. She had Alzheimer's disease dementia and had been deteriorating gradually due to her illness. She had been cared for wonderfully at the nursing home and had enjoyed her time there prior to her sudden downturn.
It is
a terrible illness to watch take hold of your loved one but the care, consideration and professionalism of this home made it much easier for us to cope. Knowing she was being cared for so well was a boon to the whole family and the home policies during Covid19 have been exemplary.
We would heartily recommend Conifers Nursing Home to anyone who wishes their loved one to be cared for with dignity, consideration and professionalism and we cannot thank them enough for their kindness and consideration to her and to our family.
Reply from Mindhi kaur, Office Manager at Conifers Nursing HomeDear Robert,
What a beautiful review, thank you so much for your kind words. I have already shared your message with the staff and they gathered around the staff board to read this, I told them this is down to their hard work so well done to all our staff. It's lovely to be recognised for this difficult job we do. Your mother-in-law was a special lady who made a lot of staff laugh and will be deeply missed. Please keep in touch.

Thanks so much to everyone at The Conifers, we were so lucky that social services allocated my mum to this home, under extremely difficult circumstances on Christmas Eve of all days! As soon as we went inside it was immediately obvious how clean and comfortable it looked. Mum settled in very quickly,
despite her Alzheimers, and water infection, which can usually upset her if things change. But I've got to say, the staff here are incredible and I'm so, so grateful to know she's cared for and loved as if she's one of their family. Having visited a number of care and nursing homes, I say this is at the top of my list. Well done all of you and a huge thank you.
Reply from Mindhi kaur, Office Manager at Conifers Nursing HomeThank you so much for a lovely review, reading this means a lot to us. Our staff work extremely hard to ensure your loved ones receive the best care and it takes a few kind words from relatives, friends and professional visitors to show them that they're doing a great job. Thank you once again.

The home is very friendly and has lovely staff. Our dad seems happy to be there. Our dad would not be here now if he had not been moved to Conifers Nursing Home after terrible care from another place. I would like to thank all the staff at Conifers. My mom thinks there could be a little improvement
in the laundry service but everything else is great.

We visited today, Dad is great but growing a beard, we asked him if this is the new look. Apparently not so we searched the room for his electric razor. Found the box and charger but not the razor, have asked the team to find it. Hopefully, he can have a shave soon… please.
Reply from Sarah Edwards, Home Manager at Conifers Nursing HomeThank you for your review, the contents have been duly noted. We take all comments received very seriously and wish to ensure all our residents and relatives are satisfied with the care provided by the Conifers. Having discussed the review with our Nursing and Care Team we have established that the shaver has been misplaced. We will carry out an intense search for its whereabouts and if this is not located then a new electric shaver will be purchased immediately.

Since my mom moved into the Conifers Nursing Home I have seen a great change in her, seems more happier now and getting way better care than I could give even with four carers going in. She seems to be eating better as well. She says she sleeps well and her room is nice and staff are so helpful and
nice to talk to.

The care my father receives appears adequate. He has appropriate use of pressure-relieving equipment. Had a pressure sore when he arrived from a temporary nursing home, this has now healed. He appears calm and settled. The home stuck to visiting rules with Covid. Never seems to wear his own clothes,
although they are all labelled - this is not a great concern. Overall. pleased with the home.

The overall experience at the Conifers Nursing Home is absolutely amazing. I cannot fault anything. The office staff are so kind and caring. Also, Nan gets her medication on time and at regular intervals. The nurses will pop in and out of Nan's room during the day to check up on her. If there are any
issues whatsoever we, as a family, receive updates via phone call. The care team really do care and look after Nan, they keep her clothes clean and looking her best. The activity lady, I cannot thank her enough for all the support and everything she does for Nan and us as a family. She goes the extra mile. The visiting over Covid has been wonderful and well organised. You've all worked extremely hard during these difficult times, keeping Nan safe. Overall, very pleased with the Conifers.

I just wanted to say how amazing one of the nurses is and it is a shame to see him go. He has clearly built a rapport with grandad and we have had many conversations all of which have emphasised what a caring person and nurse he is.
All nursing staff have shown care and kindness but this nurse specifically
I feel needs thanking. There is also another nurse whom I speak to a lot and she also shows the same care and compassion and again understands and knows grandad. Grandad has deteriorated rapidly as we know and having nursing staff who truly care around him is reassuring to me as his granddaughter and a nurse.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.370)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.370) out of 10 for Conifers Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.495 for Conifers Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 188 Ratings = 4.495
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Conifers Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
