The Conifers provides short-term, long-term and respite care services (nursing, residential and palliative) for both men and women over 60.

The Conifers is located in the village of Great Wyrley and is convenient for Cannock and Walsall. There is a regular bus service and major rail and road networks are within easy reach.

Accommodation is offered in two double and 36 single rooms, the majority of which are with en-suite facilities. Communal areas include: two lounges, two dining areas and a quiet room. The home also has a salon for a visiting hairdresser. Floors are accessed via a passenger lift and each floor has an assisted bathroom and shower. Residents are welcome to furnish their room with personal possessions.

The Conifers has a beautifully designed garden for residents to enjoy both from inside and out.

The home offers a variety of activities to suit all tastes and abilities and a co-ordinator is available every morning.

The home has held the Investors in People Award since 2003.

There seems to be a lack of communication. I don't know what's going on from one week to the next. Inadequate visiting arrangements and no flexibility. Same with WhatsApp.

We understand the frustrations many families have with the government guidelines for visiting and communication with care home residents. However, I do not accept a suggestion of a lack of communication. As a company we have sent several letters and e-mails keeping families and loved ones up to date on the COVID virus and its impact on residents and families. Our staff have worked tirelessly to meet the needs of the residents with all of the additional work such as donning and doffing and additional cleaning that has been required. Our administration teams have had huge amounts of extra tasks to complete for local authorities, PHE and company requirements. We have used the video and phone calls and when able, window visits and now identified person visits into the home to try to support the emotional needs of the residents in our care.
I think this demonstrates we are doing all that we can and frustrations with the limits of what we can offer are not fairly attributed to the home.

In the last two and a half years that my mother has been a resident at the Conifers, the staff have always presented a friendly, welcoming and positive atmosphere. There is good all-round team culture and this has been maintained despite the many changes of staff including management, carers and nurses.
The Conifers have been very positive during the current covid-19 situation, setting up systems to enable family and friends to maintain contact with residents during this difficult period where visits have not been possible. The home was locked down two weeks prior to the government and maintained a virus-free establishment.

My mother in law has been a resident of the Conifers Nursing Home for 3 1/2 years, and I feel that she has been in very good hands. The friendliness and caring nature of the staff is very evident, and whilst operations might not be considered perfect, they are reaching a very acceptable level, and any
improvement would be a bonus.

My 96 year old Mother was in The Conifers for 6 weeks before she passed away and the staff were amazing. Their kindness, care, devotion was above and beyond. I would highly recommend the COnifers for anyone's parents who need special care.

Conifers Nursing Home is outstanding. The care and compassion shown to my dad and us as a family as dad approached his life end was exemplary.


I would recommend the home without hesitation.


The management and all the staff were so kind in our time of need to help dad to a comfortable and dignified

death. They could not do enough for us.

My father was transferred from hospital to the Conifers as he required support with PEG feeding.
The transition was quick and efficient, all equipment and feeds he required was put into place straight away.
The staff greeted him warmly and settled him into the home.
Unfortunately, after a week he
developed a chest infection and despite the excellent care received had to be taken back into hospital where he sadly passed away.


As my father was nil by mouth I could not really rate food and drink but PEG Care was excellent.


Also as he was under continuing healthcare I am not aware of the value for money aspect but the review asks me to complete these sections.
