Overall Experience

My mother has been at King's Bromley for more than three years. I can't speak highly enough of the care she receives. She is genuinely happy there, feeling that she belongs in a warm, friendly, caring community. The home is run with great efficiency by the manager and her team, and the front line staff - nurses, carers and other staff - are highly professional, hardworking and friendly. In more than three years of visiting my mother, I have never once seen a member of staff 'wasting time'; if they have an odd moment, they seem to spend it chatting to a resident. Communication within the home, and with residents' relations, is excellent. All staff are friendly, talking to residents constantly as they go about their tasks. Carers have a great deal of contact with residents all the time, and the atmosphere is cheerful, positive, and affectionate. The catering is outstanding. All the food is freshly cooked; my mother, who used to run a restaurant during WWII, maintains that it is 'well beyond restaurant standard'. Food is prepared and served in appropriate form for each resident. Residents seem to enjoy their mealtimes. Some sit in the dining room, others in the lounge or in their own rooms, depending on preference. Staff are constantly encouraging residents to be sociable, but respect the views of those who choose to be alone. Staff move cheerfully around, observing who needs support, and helping to feed residents who cannot manage themselves. The range of activities has widened recently, and most of the residents who are able will participate in memory games, dominoes, skittles, quizzes, sing-songs and other games. Ancillary services such as hairdressing, manicure, dental and optical appointments are well managed and reliable. The range of residents' needs is is diverse and it is pleasing to see that all are integrated, co-existing and helping one another where possible. It truly is a community, and my only wish is that every elderly person could look forward to care of this quality in their later years.

Felicia Bumbas
Felicia BumbasJob Title:Home managerJoined: 2011

I have over 30 years of experience as a qualified nurse, including more than 15 years working in the UK after moving from Târn?veni, Romania, in 2011. I began my career in hospital care in Romania, where I worked for over 17 years before continuing to develop my skills in the UK across a range of clinical and leadership roles, including clinical lead and deputy manager. Since November 2024, I have been the manager of Kings Bromley Care Home, a role that allows me to combine my clinical expertise, leadership experience, and passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I am committed to continuous improvement, supporting staff development, and creating a positive environment for both residents and colleagues.

I was drawn to a career in care by a genuine passion for supporting people during important and vulnerable moments in their lives. I believe care is about more than meeting physical needs—it’s about dignity, respect, and understanding each individual. What I enjoy most is leading and supporting my team to deliver the best possible care, while creating an environment where residents feel safe and valued. Building relationships with residents and their families and making a positive difference in their daily lives is the most rewarding part of my role.

My key strengths lie in maintaining high standards of care while keeping each resident’s needs, preferences, and dignity at the centre of everything we do. I am passionate about developing staff, building strong and compassionate teams, and creating a positive culture within the home. I place a strong emphasis on communication and work closely with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure care is well-coordinated and responsive.

My approach is based on compassion, respect, and open communication. I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where residents, families, and staff all feel valued, heard, and respected.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through sport and love travelling to experience new places and cultures. I also value spending quality time with family and friends, which helps me maintain a healthy work-life balance.
