Dad became a Manor House resident in mid-March 2023. We were very uneasy about placing him in a nursing home but his medical needs meant we had no choice. From the moment we walked through the door we felt much more at ease; the smell of the lunch was delicious, the place was clean and the staff were
very welcoming and informative.
However, it is the care from the staff that we were most impressed with. Dad had advanced Parkinson's and struggled with all oral intake, and with any kind of movement but he was very well cared for both emotionally and physically, and he was treated with dignity and respect.
In his final week, we knew he would pass away soon and during this time the staff were not only very attentive towards Dad but also caring and supportive to us as a family.
When we commenced the process of seeking a nursing home for Dad, there were many factors for us to consider but the quality of care and support was top of the list and Manor House Nursing Home delivered! Thank you!
Reply from Jayne Wood, Director of Nursing at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review. We understand it is not an easy decision to place someone you love so dearly into a nursing home and we're really pleased you felt your dad was well cared for. We will pass on your comments to the team who cared for your dad. Our team, as you know, cares very much for everyone who comes to live here and their families who we get to know, so we're really grateful you took the time to write this feedback for us.

All staff are very polite, helpful and it is clear that they care. Certain rooms could do with some TLC. Holes in walls filled in and coat of paint.
Overall experience is excellent.
Reply from Jayne Wood, Director of Nursing at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review. We pride ourselves in having a team who care deeply about everyone who lives here. We'd like to address your comment on the TLC, we have a maintenance team who work every day to maintain high standards around the home and a re-decorating programme to ensure any areas that need attention are addressed swiftly, but thank you for the message as we really value feedback and we'll be sure to look into this.

My uncle is in the Manor House Nursing home in Stafford. He has old age Dementia but is still the lovely man he always was. He celebrated his 90th birthday on Friday 1st July 2022. The help given to my uncle by the Manor House staff I can’t praise enough. On the occasion of his 90th birthday, the catering
staff gave me all the help I needed to put on a small party to celebrate with his wife and a few close friends. They went above and beyond their call of duty to supply a beautifully presented buffet with everything we needed at hand to have a lovely afternoon celebration. Thank you to all the staff at the Manor House for the superb way in which my uncle is looked after and for making his birthday buffet such a success. Special thanks to his carer who couldn’t be there that day, as he was not feeling well. We missed you.
Reply from Jayne Wood, Director of Nursing at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you for this lovely note. We are very fond of your uncle and were delighted to be able to help you put on the party. We know how important occasions like this are to families and are always happy to help in any way we can. We'll pass on your message to everyone involved and his carer.

Our brother was only at the home for 8 days before he passed away but our family saw a dramatic improvement in him. He was happy, joking and eating all of which he didn't do before he went into Manor House Nursing Home. The staff were all friendly, professional and helpful and they all seemed to love
our brother's character. Thank you all for the great care and respect you gave to our brother during his last days with us. You made his last days pleasurable having given him a little independence and a warm friendly caring place to lay his weary head for the last time. Thank you all.

Mom came to Manor House Nursing Home for her end of life, so was only there for a few days. Whilst the home is looking a little tired, the decor was not our first priority. Mom had been in hospital for 8-weeks, and we were desperate to get her out to give her some peace and quiet in her final days,
and that’s exactly what she got. The home was clean, lovely and warm. I can’t comment on the food as I have said Mom was in here for her end of life. All of the staff were amazing, from keeping her respect and dignity to just being lovely to her and us. Our family will never be able to thank you enough; you're amazing.

I’m not one who takes the time to write reviews, however, after the amazing care my mother received at Manor House then I have to.
As a family, our greatest fear was that our beloved mother would have to spend part of her life in a nursing home, however, after a fall and worsening health in hospital
she was transferred to Manor House.
From the first second, our mother was treated with care and compassion and that was also how we felt. In a few short days, the staff became people we could talk to and shared their experiences with us.
Every staff member should be congratulated for really caring and not treating our mother as yet another resident or just another day at work for them.
Special thanks to all the staff.
The way they cared for Mother in her last few days and the way they handled Mother's passing and the family will stay with us.
Thank you for all you did.

My father has been at the Manor for several years and has never complained. He is treated as an individual, and staff have catered to his personal and care needs. When I have visited, I have been treated well, and the staff are always welcoming and courteous. I have particularly noticed the high standards
of hygiene and cleanliness. Although it has been an exceptionally challenging time, I have always had confidence with the home.
Reply from Jodie, Responsible Individual & Managing Director at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you ever so much for taking the time to write this review for us. Feedback like this means everything to the team - we're all very fond of your father. Ensuring people are treated as individuals and offering the very best care we possibly can is at the core of everything we do - and you are right it has been a challenging time not just for the staff but for your relatives too - we understand how hard it has been for families to not be able to visit in order to keep people safe, let's all hope we can keep moving forward and families can keep visiting and be together. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Generally, the experience has been very good. We had an experience when my mother was given the wrong drugs and on another occasion, drugs were not given, this is a cause for concern.
The care home agreed to call me every Wednesday at 4:30 pm this was very hit and miss from the start and now has stopped
completely. Without any notifications, Mum generally seems very happy and well cared for.
Reply from Jayne Wood, Director of Nursing & Registered Manager at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review. Regarding the wellbeing calls, we apologise if there has been any misunderstanding, these calls are made weekly on a Monday. When the nurse calls next week we'll ensure we confirm the correct time for you. Regarding the medication we can confirm there was not an episode where the wrong medication was given - we'd welcome a conversation about this to put any concerns you have at ease. Again, we thank you for your review, we are all very fond of your mother, her and indeed all of our residents' happiness and wellbeing is our number one priority so to hear you think she is happy means a lot to us. Looking forward to talking to you. Jayne.

Manor House Nursing Home truly cared with kindness for our mum and the whole family. After horrific treatment elsewhere, everyone in the Manor House treated mum, in the last stages of her dementia, with true love and one to one care and kindness.
Reply from Jackie Davies, Operations Director at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you for writing these kind words. Mum had a terrible experience at a previous care home which showed a marked difference to her time at the Manor. At every stage and with every dealing with the staff at the Manor we were treated with care, concern and compassion, not just mum but the rest of the family too. Given the extraordinary circumstances
of the current lockdown, staff did everything they could to support us and make mum's passing as peaceful as possible.
Reply from Jackie Davies, Operations Director at Manor House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write this kind review. We were sorry to hear of the experience you had encountered before your Mum came to us. Our elderly neighbour went to an assessment bed. The staff were very caring and professional. Attention was given to her mobility and good progress was made in improving her diet and food intake. This would be an expensive, long term, residential home, but is high quality. Well equipped rooms if a little
dated. Comfortable lounges. Seemed to be a good variety of events.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.170)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.170) out of 10 for Manor House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.760 for Manor House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 167 Ratings = 4.76
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.41 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manor House Nursing Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 125 registered maximum number of service users is 25. 14 Positive Reviews ÷ 25 = 0.56
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
