Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been cared for at Rider House following a stroke 2 years ago. The care that she receives is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. The staff are extremely friendly, caring and supportive, to both mum and her family, and we are always made to feel welcome and included. All of the staff spent
time with her and have a thorough knowledge of her requirements. We are regularly updated on her personal care plan and any changes are discussed with us and we know that we can ask any questions at any time and will always get an answer.
Mum's personal care needs are taken care of in a manner that means she is comfortable, clean and maintains her dignity.
The bedroom was a blank canvas when she arrived and we were encouraged to bring personal things, including pictures and photographs, from home to make the bedroom her own. The home is always kept clean and smelling fresh and the laundry never seems closed!
We could not wish for better. Excellent care from a dedicated staff.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband stayed at Rider House earlier in the year and has just had another week's stay respite. Both times my husband has been very well looked after, 5-star nursing companionship.
With various chronic illnesses, the duty of care has been first class and all his needs met from the manager, assistant
to all care staff.
The home is pleasant and clean, it's being gradually refurbished.
I find them all helpful in all matter and they all seem to work together as one big team.
Very happy.
Reply from Lesley Henney, Registered manager at Rider House Nursing HomeThank you so much for your positive review. We are so pleased we were able to meet your husbands needs so well, and look forward to his next stay with us.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.793) out of 10 for Rider House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.818 for Rider House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (183 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 220 Ratings = 4.818
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rider House Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

"I have worked at Rider House since December 2018. During this time, I have seen immense changes at Rider House, supported by the management team and the wonderful, caring staff that Rider has. This ensures that we always strive to be the best we can, providing the love and care that we all work hard to achieve and is expected from our residents, their families, and our supportive community.
I have worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years and have never had second thoughts about my chosen career path. After initially qualifying I worked in general medicine, progressing to oncology, chemotherapy, palliative and EOL care nurse specialist. This career progression enables me to provide the best care we can for all residents regardless of their needs and ill health, ensuring that they are supported to live as well and happy as they deserve. I am constantly seeking to get the best from the staff, but in a manner that recognises their value and worth so that their enthusiasm and genuine care helps us all to achieve our intended aims.”
