Rider House is extremely well run and all the staff are lovely, friendly and very caring. They go above and beyond in caring for mum. She feels safe and well looked after, which is all we ask for, but we feel totally comfortable that mum is being looked after and kept busy with activities that have
definitely helped with her dementia. Thank you to you all.

Mum was welcomed at Rider House after a dreadful few days at another care home.
Whilst mum was only at Rider House for a short time due to her progression of her illness she was treated with respect and dignity by the whole team.
The team kept mum as comfortable as they could. We were made to feel
welcome and were also treated with care and compassion. It was a lovely touch when the staff lined the road as the funeral procession drove past on mum’s final journey.
Thank you to the manager and her wonderful team.
Reply from Amanda Bisson, Registered Home Manager at Rider House Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely feedback and review. I will ensure your sentiments are passed on to the team and would like to say that it was a pleasure to be involved with all the family and play a small part in the care of your lovely Mum. Amanda

As a family we could not be more impressed with the care mum has received at Rider House. Mum moved from another care home to be closer to us and it was the best decision we ever made. Mum looks the healthiest she has ever been over the last few years, loves the food and put on weight. Lovely home cooked
food and cakes and puddings to die for. Mum is beautifully dressed, hair always tidy and nails polished, just like mum was at home. She has made friends with other residents and the lovely staff, especially Amanda who has helped us navigate funding and assessments - she has so much time for everyone - 1st class home.
Reply from Amanda Bisson, Registered Home Manager at Rider House Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. I have passed on your positive feedback to all the staff. The staff and i take pride in ensuring the residents are cared for as they would were they at home and it is really appreciated that this is acknowledged. It is our pleasure to be involved in the care of your Mum and the extended family. Amanda

After a very traumatic stay at another care home, mum was thankfully transferred to Rider. From the very beginning of mums final journey, we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. The kindness and love shown by the manager and all staff was outstanding. Sadly mum died 15 days after her 88
birthday. The staff, although very busy, found time to be kind. They just need to be able to spend a little time to sit and breath and relax with the residents. During mums stay I tried to be with her at lunch times to help as much as I could and saw how the staff were at dinner times which was good. Talking to residents whilst feeding is so important. The manager and all staff need a very big pat on the back for the care and kindness they deliver. They need to keep doing what they do best and treat residents as family. They do, however need another lift for residents upstairs.
Reply from Amanda Bisson, Registered Home Manager at Rider House Nursing HomeThank you for your review. It was our pleasure to be involved in the care of your Mum and the family. I know it can be busy at times with the one lift but we have listened to feedback and i am pleased to advise that a second lift will feature in our further developments at Rider. I will ensure all staff are communicated your kind words especially in relation to the care and kindness you experienced which is at the forefront of all we do at Rider.

The care by everyone is absolutely first class its a lovely family feeling and atmosphere where we feel totally relaxed but we know there is someone to ask if we've got any concerns at all. The home itself is immaculate again testament to all concerned.

All communication with Rider House has been excellent, prompt and clear. Residents are treated with dignity and respect and all of the team are helpful and have a very positive attitude, we are being cared for and welcomed as a family which is very reassuring. Excellent hygiene standards throughout.
Hands on management with clear focus on resident needs. All promises have been kept and nothing is too much trouble for the hard working team. We feel very supported at a difficult time and are very grateful to everyone at Rider House.

Every time I visit my mum which isnt as often as I would like as I dont live nearby. I am always met by friendly, helpful staff who's kindness and care is shown throughout their dealings with the residents and their colleagues. I am always impressed with all services supplied and I gain extra insight
when im not visiting, through Rider House's Facebook page. I look forward to seeing what the residents are up to and take delight seeing the end results of their activities. Amanda, the manager, as well as the other staff will always take time out if I have any questions and never make me feel that I am taking up their time. I am so impressed with the working relationships betweem the staff, residents and families and its a joy to see my mum so settled, relaxed and happy within this environment which is now her home #1stclass #ahappyplace

I have come here from hospital after breaking 6 ribs.
The staff are all very patient and kind. The food is very good. Homemade and delicious.
I have a large room with an ensuite, overlooking a garden.
Rider house is ideal for recuperating from an injury or operation in my opinion.

I have seen the care staff going out of their way to make mum and the other residents comfortable and contented.
A lot of effort is put into her food & drink intake with good meals and snacks. She has eaten better since being here.
I am reassured that she is in safe hands.

Rider House took my sister in as an emergency. I was apprehensive at first as my sister has complex needs. It was easy to see that the home is well-run and has a lovely atmosphere. Staff are very welcoming and so caring in the way my sister has been looked after. I have no hesitation in recommending
this wonderful home. We hope to see them all again in the not-too-distant future.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.725)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.725) out of 10 for Rider House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Rider House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (172 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 220 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rider House Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

"I have worked at Rider House since December 2018. During this time, I have seen immense changes at Rider House, supported by the management team and the wonderful, caring staff that Rider has. This ensures that we always strive to be the best we can, providing the love and care that we all work hard to achieve and is expected from our residents, their families, and our supportive community.
I have worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years and have never had second thoughts about my chosen career path. After initially qualifying I worked in general medicine, progressing to oncology, chemotherapy, palliative and EOL care nurse specialist. This career progression enables me to provide the best care we can for all residents regardless of their needs and ill health, ensuring that they are supported to live as well and happy as they deserve. I am constantly seeking to get the best from the staff, but in a manner that recognises their value and worth so that their enthusiasm and genuine care helps us all to achieve our intended aims.”
