Mum moved into Rider House on December 19th, the staff were very welcoming to her. The place is very clean, warm and cosy, she's settled really well. We now know she has 24-hour care from wonderful staff.
It's nice to see the staff sitting and chatting to the residents and having a laugh and joke with them.
Rider House is a fantastic care home, when you first enter it has a friendly, warm, welcoming feel. Everyone who works there is so kind, friendly and supportive to my mum and when I visit. They are an extension to our family and this now includes the other residents that Mum has quickly formed a friendship with. The care home, garden and facilities are immaculate and I couldn't wish for a better environment for Mum. They go the extra mile for significant events, everyone joins in and there is a strong connection with the local community. The home provides a full and varied life for Mum. She also has a weekly visit from the hairdresser, her optician visits are scheduled in the comfort of the home and this also includes the dentist. I believe Mum's general health has improved since she has been in Rider House. She is definitely enjoying her meals now, not because she has a great menu to choose from but they are so sociable. Mum is happy to be in Rider House and I am too.
A fantastic care home. The manager was so helpful in arranging for mum to transfer to Rider House and throughout her, six month stay the staff were so kind, friendly and supportive. Mum was looked after with dignity and thoughtfulness and when she became very frail, her needs were met by the lovely carers. She had familiar faces around her day and night, and they were so kind to me too, during such a difficult time. It was such a relief knowing that she didn't need to go into hospital; the nurses in the home made sure she was comfortable and her treatment updated as necessary. She was always clean and nicely dressed, with the hairdresser, chiropodist and optician visiting. The cleanliness throughout is excellent and the home-cooked meals and cakes are top quality; it was lovely to know she was going to eat in the dining room and spend time with other residents over meals. For me, seeing her at the carol service, all wrapped up warm and gazing at Santa, confirmed I had made the best choice for mum.
Thank you for your lovely feedback and kind words. It was our pleasure to have been involved in the care of your Mum who was such a lovely lady. As well as your Mum the residents, staff and I loved the regular visits with your beautiful little dog. Please do both come and visit any time you are passing.
It's reassuring that loved ones who require nursing care are looked after with love, dignity and respect. I have nothing but praise for the manager and staff who look after my mother and the other residents. Retaining staff over many years and rarely using temporary staff speaks volumes as to the working environment at Rider. My mother is happy, well looked after and safe. When visiting, the home is always obliging on when we can meet, bedroom, garden or outside pods, and covid controls are still in place and adhered to with correct PPE being provided for visitors.
Thank you Roland for your kind words and lovely feedback. We are privileged to provide care to your lovely mum and have the pleasure of getting to know wonderful families which makes our job so rewarding. Your review is greatly appreciated by myself and the staff.
Fantastic care home which gives us all peace of mind given we live overseas and are not easily able to get back regularly. All staff seem to go above and beyond especially organising for us to call and video to speak with our granddad even with strange time zone differences. We visited the home in person, recently and all staff were just as friendly in person and the facilities were very clean and all residents seemed very well cared for.
Thank you so much for your kind words and lovely review. We have been so pleased to meet you in person having travelled over from Australia but no one has been more delighted to see you and your brother than your grandad himself, you really have made his year. It is our pleasure to care for your...
My nephew's illness means that as well as nursing care he needs understanding, patience and sensitivity all of which he gets at Rider House from all of the staff. He is settled there and loves his room. The staff are very caring, kind and attentive.
Thank you very much for your kind words and lovely feedback. It is a pleasure to be involved in the care of your nephew and to be involved with such a caring family. We are privileged to have such lovely residents and families at Rider.
Even though my husband is younger than most residents, they cater well for his age group and abilities.
Thank you for your lovely feedback and kind words. Your dedication and support during his life is outstanding, and to be involved in the care of your husband and the family makes our job so rewarding. The staff and I are very grateful and I thank you for having the opportunity to be on this journey with such wonderful people.
Mum has been at Rider House since January 22 she seems to have settled in fairly well, her room is kept very clean and tidy bearing in mind mum has most of her meals in there. The staff seem to be kind and friendly towards mum and are adaptable to her needs, nothing is too much trouble, so all in all we’re very pleased with the team at Rider House, thanks to you all.
Thank you for your kind words. It is our pleasure to be involved in the care of your lovely mum and her family. The staff and I very much appreciate your positive feedback.
Staff amazing, working at a difficult time (covid). The standard of care provided was excellent. Everything was made exceptionally more difficult due to having to be sterilised, washed down etc. My friend who is still a resident is very happy there.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and kind words. We are so lucky to have such wonderful residents to care for. This is what makes our job so worthwhile and rewarding.
Mum has been at Rider House since May 2021 following discharge from hospital and a previous awful stay at an assessment care home. Mum was very frail and in quite poor health when she arrived at Rider House, we had been told by the hospital that Mum’s life expectancy was not great, roll on a year later. Thank you Rider House! Mum's physical and mental health is in a much better place, the dedicated team at the home have made such a difference to Mum’s quality of life, they are professional, they treat everyone with dignity and kindness, nothing is too much trouble. The home is clean and tidy and the gardens are immaculate, Mum spends a lot of time outside when the weather permits. As a visitor (almost every day!) I am always made to feel very welcome. I have nothing but praise for the manager and the whole team.
Thank you, Sarah, for your lovely review. It has been our absolute pleasure to be involved in the care of Mum and to get to know all the family.
I came from New Zealand to see my dad. The welcome was outstanding, and I felt welcomed straight away. The manager is the most open, caring and professional person I have dealt with. She has gone over and above anything I could want, and the staff there are excellent. I am confident that my dad is being cared for, and they keep me up to date with his progress. He loves the outings as well. Thank you so much, you guys; you are outstanding.
Thank you so much for your kind words and lovely review. After all the restrictions with Covid, it was so lovely to meet you in person last month and dad was so delighted to see you. Hope we see you again in the not too distant future but in the meantime, we will ensure dad has regular watts app calls.
The team at Rider House are excellent and I cannot praise their dedication to the residents enough. I would be only too pleased to recommend Rider House to anyone. I have been involved with residents at Rider House from 2014 and, throughout that time, everyone has been cared for attentively and with an emphasis on dealing with people as individuals.
Thank you for your kind words and wonderful review.
Mum went in Ryder House just before Easter, she was very reluctant to go into care but agreed to respite. Now mum is very settled, happy and has made the decision to stay, something we never thought she would do, that’s down to the very friendly and attentive staff, they have been wonderful with Mum, settling her in and helping her adjust.
Thank you so much for your wonderful and kind review. It has been our pleasure to help Mum settle in and welcome her and the family to Rider House.
Dad has only been at Rider House for a few weeks but we can already see a huge improvement both mentally and physically in him. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there are always plenty of staff around. Everwhere is clean and well maintained. Wish we have found this home sooner.
Thank you Melanie for your lovely review and kind words. It has been our pleasure to welcome your Dad and the family to Rider House and we are so pleased he has settled in so quickly.
Mum has been in the Rider House since September 2021. She is very happy here and both I and my mum are very pleased indeed with Rider House. The staff and carers are excellent. Everything is clean and tidy. I would give the Rider House 10/10. Excellent services and care.
Thank you for your lovely feedback Sue and Hilda. Being involved in the care and support of such wonderful families and residents is our privilege and makes our job so rewarding.
I cannot praise the staff enough they are like a family and good friends.
Thank you for your lovely feedback Pat. The staff love having you at Rider and so enjoy being in your company. We are privileged to be involved in your care.
I was in a bad state of mind this time last year, so I think it was my lucky day when I ended up at Rider House. I find all of the staff here very helpful and there is no one to dislike and nothing much to complain about.
The staff love your company as do several other residents who you have made friends with. It is a pleasure to have you as part of our Rider family and friends and delightful to see how well you have settled and progressed.
Mum's care home was closing down. Given very short notice. Mum has advanced dementia, 92, sweet, loving, happy, tactile, fun, acquiescent and calm lady: no 'challenging behaviour' problems. Highly vulnerable. English is not her native language. Unable to speak but needs love, reassurance, and staff who can 'read' her and anticipate her needs, give her their time and fuss over her, within a very calm environment. She also misses her garden. Very hard to find. Rider House Nursing Home, situated in lovely gardens and mature trees/private parkland, under the management of the Manager and her team of highly dedicated staff, tick all the boxes. No screaming alarms to disturb my mum who hates noise. Massively grateful, in the full knowledge that mum is so very well cared for and clearly content. I live quite a distance away and am unable to visit regularly, so I ask for photos and call for regular updates on mum's care, all of which are forthcoming. Home clean and mum always clean.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. It is a pleasure to care for your Mum and get to know her family. We understand when families are so far away, how stressful it can be not to have sight of their loved ones regularly, so we will always endeavour to keep you updated on progress and...
Mum settled really well here and is happy.
Thank you for your kind feedback. It is a pleasure to be involved in your Mums care.

Meet the Team (1)

I have worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years and have never had second thoughts about my chosen career path. After initially qualifying I worked in general medicine, progressing to oncology, chemotherapy, palliative and EOL care nurse specialist. This career progression enables me to provide the best care we can for all residents regardless of their needs and ill health, ensuring that they are supported to live as well and happy as they deserve. I am constantly seeking to get the best from the staff, but in a manner that recognises their value and worth so that their enthusiasm and genuine care helps us all to achieve our intended aims.”
