The care my mum receives is excellent. The staff are courteous and give their time and attention to residents generously.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Generous time and attention is easy to give when we have the pleasure of being involved in the care of such wonderful residents..
My husband was rather reluctant to become a patient in a nursing home. With the patience, care, kindness and understanding of the staff he is now settled, content and happy.
Thank you for your kind words and lovely feedback. It is a pleasure to see residents settle in and makes our job very rewarding.
Rider House offers excellent attentive, compassionate dignified care, and leadership, from individuals who have professional and personal experience within the Care sector; great staff ratios - nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff who always appear pleasant upbeat and jolly - the empathy for residents exudes from staff! On considering a Care Home for your relative only use review websites as one means of investigation as providers can refuse for them to be published. Consider the environment! Rider House offers lovely quiet lounges with no loud call bell systems constantly ringing and a separate dining room, again aiding a peaceful environment. Unfortunately, Mum's previous placement lacked such and staff lacked the training to deal with her fluctuating dementia but I'm glad to say staff at Rider House nurture Mum with TLC and previous complaints of ill-treatment from Mum are no longer made: Rider House Nursing Home has restored our confidence. Thank You!
Thank you for taking to time to write such a detailed and heartfelt review about Rider House Nursing Home. Myself and the team at the home are absolutely thrilled to read your kind words. Thank you so much.
The atmosphere as you enter is one of positivity and liveliness but professionalism.
It is very bright and airy set in lovely maintained grounds.
Thank you for your lovely review of our home, everyone at the home works very hard to keep the home the special place it is, I will pass on your kind words to the team.
Mum was at Rider House for three years. She received excellent care and was always treated with dignity and respect. The staff have a very difficult job sometimes but meet those challenges with such care, compassion and a cheerful disposition. The care shown to us towards the end of mum's life was exemplary. I cannot thank them all enough.
Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate your kind words, and I know it was an honour for the staff to care for your dear Mum.
My Mother entered Rider House from hospital during covid restrictions. From my first enquiry, Rider House helped me in every way possible to make choosing and Mum's transition to Rider House as easy as possible. When visiting was not possible, I was still able to contact Mum and the staff were all beyond helpful when I rang to see how Mum was. Visiting was then possible in their pod, which was run so efficiently and with safety always at the forefront. I could tell Mum was happy and that the members of staff I saw with her were always so caring. Sadly my Mum has now passed away, but again the way the lovely staff at Rider House helped during Mum's last few days and this sad period I will forever be grateful for. I would be extremely happy to recommend Rider House to anyone.
Thank you for your kind words, and such a heartfelt review of our care home. The whole team at Rider are hardworking and caring and this shines through in the service we provide. It was a privilege for the team to look after your dear Mum. Best wishes from us all.
Overall very happy with the home. The home always feels warm and welcoming and I feel my mum is well looked after. I do sometimes feel that the staff are overstretched. It would be nice if they had a small amount of time to chat with my mum. Most of the staff are friendly and do an amazing job. I feel under the manager's leadership the home has a lovely family feeling.
New owner and management needing time to improve the running and efficiency of the home. Overall it is very satisfactory and residents are looked after in a safe home. Although improvements can always be made the first in my opinion is the laundry service when you buy new for your family and their name is in it why is someone else wearing it when you visit? Time and time again when you check the wardrobe you have someone else's clothes and they must have theirs and yet room numbers and names can be seen all the time. Thank you.
We are very happy with the care given to mum. She is content and joins in all the activities at the home.
Rider House have provided excellent care treating my mum-in-law with great dignity and genuine tenderness. Although she is receiving palliative care they have enabled her to participate in mealtimes and activities in the dining room. She has enjoyed the fabulous food and endless cups of tea! Such a wonderful team providing an excellent service.
Plus Side; Choir is doing a show. Craft class, keep fit, bingo, entertainer.
Meals; generally good, also very little choice of sandwiches.
Manager and all the carers look after my husband excellent.
Thank you very much for your review. I have taken note of your concerns and will endeavour to address these as a matter of urgency.
Staff very kind, friendly and caring.
Thank you for your lovely review. I will share your comments with the staff.
The home itself is warm and clean, and the gardens are well kept, a nice place for the residents to sit. The meals are excellent with choices, and always well presented. A variety of entertainment/activities are provided, and those taking part always appear to be very happy. I would not hesitate to recommend Rider House to anyone looking for a home for their relatives.
Thank you very much for your wonderful review. The staff and I are privileged to be a part of your husbands care and always enjoy yours and your daughters visits. You all make our days very special.
I cannot fault this care home. All the staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive. They cannot do enough for the residents, but not only that they take the time to look after you as a visitor and make you feel at home. I cannot thank the staff for all the care they have given my nan since she has been here. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the atmosphere feels like one big happy family.
Thank you very much for the lovely review. It is a pleasure to look after your Nan and all our wonderful residents who brighten our days each and every week.
When our mum first went into the home she was not happy. The Management and staff were very kind. They made her feel very welcome. She has been there for two years now making lots of friends among residents and staff. Encouraging mum to go into Rider House was the best thing for her. She has gone from living a sad life on her own to being the happy mum I knew of old.
Thank you very much for your wonderful review. It is our pleasure to look after such a wonderful lady who brings laughter and joy to all the staff and her fellow residents.
I have found the Rider House Nursing Home to be wonderful. The care and respect from the manager and all members of staff to my mum and family has been brilliant. The nurses have given me encouragement and support and all staff have made mum feel safe and cared for. In my mum's own words ' I cannot fault them' There is an on-site hairdresser and activities. I would not hesitate to recommend the Rider House Nursing Home.
Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We take pride in our holistic approach to care, believing families are just as important as residents and appreciate that this has been recognised and valued.
Both my parents moved into Rider House in October 2019. The care that they have received has been wonderful. My father passed away here and everyone from the manager through to every member of staff was so thoughtful and supportive, making a sad situation far more bearable. My mum continues to live at Rider House and has been able to build real relationships with many of the staff which enable her to feel she is in an environment of care and love. As a family member, I have always been able to speak to the manager or nursing staff whenever I needed to, allowing me to always feel part of Mum's care. We are grateful to have found Rider House.
Thank you very much for your positive review it is greatly appreciated. It has been our pleasure to have cared for your father and to continue to look after and support your mum through a difficult period. We are so pleased that she has settled well, it is a privilege to be part of her care and support.
Lovely building all light and bright big windows, clean, well maintained and up to date decor,TV in the room, furniture too, parking good, staff welcoming treating residents with care. Plenty of staff, food fresh and healthy, activities and trips out, in house hairdresser, can't fault the place or management. The manager very helpful, easy to talk to. My mum likes it and that's the main thing.
Thank you very much for the lovely comments and positive feedback. It is our pleasure to provide care to such wonderful residents.
Mum spent the last nine months of her life here, and during that time she was treated with dignity, humanity and love.
Ongoing improvements will add to the facilities but what really matters is how they treat their residents.
They provide a variety of activities for everyone who wants to take part, lovely gardens and an open door visiting policy.
Thank you very much for your lovely comments it is greatly appreciated. It was our pleasure to have cared for both your mum and the family.
The care, support and love showed to my mother were outstanding, from the very first contact when we met and were shown around by the manager to the visit to the hospital by the manager. Thank you so much. We will always be extremely grateful.

Meet the Team (1)

I have worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years and have never had second thoughts about my chosen career path. After initially qualifying I worked in general medicine, progressing to oncology, chemotherapy, palliative and EOL care nurse specialist. This career progression enables me to provide the best care we can for all residents regardless of their needs and ill health, ensuring that they are supported to live as well and happy as they deserve. I am constantly seeking to get the best from the staff, but in a manner that recognises their value and worth so that their enthusiasm and genuine care helps us all to achieve our intended aims.”
