It has gone way downhill since my previous grandmother was in there in 2014. My auntie, father and sister go on my behalf now, because where my nanna is now where other residents are and they upset other residents who have "worse dementia" than my grandmother and one even screamed down my ear and...
It has gone way downhill since my previous grandmother was in there in 2014. My auntie, father and sister go on my behalf now, because where my nanna is now where other residents are and they upset other residents who have "worse dementia" than my grandmother and one even screamed down my ear and I'm autistic and it was not pleasant, but that was the only time the staff actually did something about it! Not only that, every time we go, the staff or dementia residents always take my nanna's stuff and never to be seen again. When we or my auntie go to complain about this staff do nothing about it and my auntie has complained too many times now to the "manager" and does absolutely nothing about it! Also the staff are still on their phones rather than doing their job, which if that's the case why are they in this job? So please send someone to check that place, because the good rating on CQC I think is faulty.

I have spoken with the home manager and she has advised me this matter is under investigation having been raised by a relative. I understand it is difficult when you visit the home if you are on the area where your nanna lives as sometimes people's behaviour when living with Dementia may be unpredictable at times. Perhaps it may be more suitable to encourage your relative to have your visit in a different part of the home if they are willing. At the home, we record all care given to residents on a MPOC, which is a handheld phone and all staff have their own device which is allocated by the company. I have worked in care for 18 years, including 15 years with Monarch/RDCP, and have been a care home manager for the past 14 years. I started my journey as a domiciliary care assistant and knew from my very first shift that I had found the right career for me. Before this, I had a management role in a different field, but after taking voluntary redundancy at 36, I chose to follow my passion for care—a decision that has shaped my career ever since.
I was originally inspired by a childhood ambition to become a nurse. Although circumstances meant I couldn’t pursue that path at 18, moving into care allowed me to still make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, which is what I enjoy most about my role.
My key strengths lie in listening and understanding people, whether that’s supporting a resident, a family member, or a colleague. I take pride in identifying small changes that can improve someone’s well-being and in leading a team that is dedicated to making a real difference every day.
My approach is simple—I make time for people. I pay attention to how someone is feeling, even through small cues like body language, and offer support when it’s needed. Sometimes just asking if someone is okay can make all the difference.
Outside of work, I enjoy making the most of each day. I love spending time with my dog, Bertie, especially on long walks in the forest, and I’m passionate about live music, regularly travelling to gigs and enjoying those shared experiences with others.
