My father has been a resident for several months and I find Woodford House a loving and caring place for my father who has been known to be very unpredictable but has now settled down very well due to the whole staff who treat him as one of their own and as a result you cannot find any fault of any
significance and me and my family can only praise and them all for their help and consideration to my father and to us as a family. The only inconvenience is that there is no public transport. Apart from that its well done Woodford House.
Reply from Richard Hodgkisson, Business Director at Woodford House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your kind feedback. We are truly grateful for your lovely comments about the care provided to your dad. Your kind words will be shared with our staff, who work incredibly hard to support residents and their Families. We do understand and acknowledge your concerns about the public transport and recognise this can be challenging for families. Whilst transport links outside are directly out of our control. We appreciate you raising this and will continue to share such feedback with the relevant local services. Best wishes. Tina and the team

The Christmas party at the care home was truly heart-warming and thoughtfully arranged. It was clear how much care and effort the staff put into making the day special for the residents, particularly those living with dementia. The decorations created a festive yet calm atmosphere, and the music was
familiar and comforting, which really helped engage the residents. Our mom seemed relaxed and happy, and it was lovely to see her smiling and responding to the songs and activities. The staff were attentive, patient, and genuinely kind, taking time to include everyone at their own pace and ensuring no one felt overwhelmed. As a family, it meant a great deal to see our mom enjoying the occasion and to feel confident she is in such caring hands. We are very grateful to the whole team for creating such a meaningful Christmas celebration and for the ongoing dedication they show every day.
Reply from Richard Hodgkisson, Business Director at Woodford House Nursing HomeThank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind words. It truly means so much to hear that you and your family enjoyed the Christmas party, and we are especially grateful to you both for giving your time to be Mr Claus and Mrs Claus. Seeing our residents happy and surrounded by loved ones is what makes occasions like this so special. Your feedback will be incredibly uplifting for our staff, who work with such care and dedication every day. Thank you for sharing in such a meaningful celebration with us. Wishing you all the very best.

Woodford house has been home for my dad for three years and words cannot describe what a wonderful place it is, to show how happy we are with the care it became my uncle's home eighteen months later and he remained there until his death. The care they show not only to the residents but to us as family
is amazing. They threw a little party for my mums birthday earlier in the year and for my recent birthday they sent me a card from my dad complete with his fingerprints. Putting a loved one in a care home is one of the most difficult decisions to make but the peace of mind that comes when you know they are so well cared for is unparalleled. The staff are truly amazing and we couldn't be more grateful for the care they give.

I will be sure to share your feedback with the whole team. Warm RegardsTina and the team

I find Woodford House Nursing Home meets current government legislation and guidelines for the care of the residents in their care. However, I find a major problem with communication between some management and staff. Also following up and providing feedback on complaints is very ad-hoc I find there
is confusion when booking appointments for visitors or hospital consultations and errors regarding paperwork. When I have complained formally regarding this I received a corporate verbal apology not written and an assurance this will not happen again. It does happen again and yet another apology. I have concerns regarding health and safety in certain areas and have addressed these concerns with the manager. I feel the building and security is reminiscent of a 1980s institutional centre and has not really come onto the 21st century regarding vision, scope and development for the future needs of the residents and client needs.

My husband has been a resident at Woodford House for several years with complex needs.
All the staff, nurses, carers, reception, catering staff, cleaners, laundry staff and handyman all work hard to make Woodford a happy, caring environment for our loved ones to live in, under very difficult circumstances
at times.
The home manager and staff member who deals with the dementia pathways, who works between another home in the group and Woodford do an excellent job in explaining and sorting out any problems that arise. Calls are made to me to inform me of any problems or issues that arise with my husband, which I find very reassuring.
The well-being team work well with the residents with music, walks and various activity programs.
No home is perfect but everyone at Woodford tries their best to make this a happy loving home for our loved ones. I have to admit for myself an open and honest relationship with the management team is a bonus.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.692) out of 10 for Woodford House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.692 for Woodford House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (196 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 273 Ratings = 4.692
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodford House Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Charlotte Drake

Job Title: Senior Nurse Joined: 2024

Charlotte was promoted to Senior Nurse in June 2023, whilst still working at sister home Perton Manor. She was the first Nurse to be appointed to the newly implemented role, bridging the gap between Nurses and the Clinical Nurse Manager.

In January 2024, the opportunity arose for Charlotte to transfer to Woodford House, supporting the Nursing team in a senior capacity. Her day-to-day duties include supervision, guidance and mentoring of the Nursing team, liaising with external professionals to complete client assessments and reviews, medication management, rota management, auditing and tending to the well-being and clinical needs of all clients within the home.

Charlotte’s career began as a Nursery Nurse for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). She soon developed a desire for higher education, and in 2006, qualified as a Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD). Working as a Registered Nurse for just over a decade, Charlotte discovered her passion for further developing her skills by exploring other fields of Nursing. In December 2017, she approached Capulet Care and was successfully appointed as a Registered Nurse with the company.

Expanding on her knowledge and skills, Charlotte has since completed a Practice Assessor & Practice Supervisor course via Wolverhampton University. This enables her to mentor, assess and sign off competencies for new Nurses, or Student Nurses who are working at Woodford House on placements.

Charlotte continues to build on her skill set, growing with the role and looking forward to what the future holds.

“Since joining the organisation, I have had the pleasure of developing my skills across 2 of Capulet Care’s homes, working with a varied client group living with a multitude of different mental health and complex care needs. I continue to enjoy further personal and professional development with the company and within my role as Senior Nurse.”
