My father came to Barchester Overslade House Care Home to recover from a fall, with a view of going home. However, he enjoyed his stay so much he decided to become a resident.
All of his children were happy with his decision knowing he would be safe and well cared for.

The consideration to family members and others was excellent, with no restriction on visiting times. Plenty to drink/eat. Friendly staff. Fantastic!

My mum came to Barchester Overslade House Care Home - my home of choice - from an atrocious social services placement. Mum arrived malnourished and broken in spirit. By day 2 in Overslade, she was engaging, happier, well cared for and safe. 4 weeks in, and she is really happy and settled, she enjoys the food, loves the staff and even joins in with activities - all a remarkable change and due to the staff in the home and how lovely the surroundings are. Thank you to the managers and the lovely carers, you have transformed my mum.

Review from K W (Brother of Resident) published on 24 July 2024 Submitted via Website

We have two of our relatives in Barchester Overslade House Care Home. In the time we have been visiting, the care offered to both our relatives has been exemplary and far beyond the treatment they received in hospital prior to their stay. The management and staff are polite, informed and attentive and have improved the health and well-being of both my brother and sister-in-law. The past six months have been traumatic for all our family but we have had the majority of the stress lessened by the consistent care and support from the home. I provide this feedback from an informed point of view having been employed in health and care settings for over forty-five years, laterally of twenty years as a CQC inspector.

Reply from Helen Levine, Administrator at Barchester Overslade House Care Home

Thank you so much for your very kind words. It is a pleasure to have both your relatives in our home and to be delivering the care that they so very much deserve. We always strive, at Overslade House, to make our home a very happy and comfortable place for our residents while delivering a high standard of care. We look forward to continuing caring for both your relatives. Thank you once again.

Review from P C (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 16 May 2024 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Right from the start, we were all treated with the utmost empathy and kindness when we come to look around the home for my sister-in-law who had recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. This was so upsetting for her to be suddenly reliant on others as she has always been fiercely independent but we were so impressed by how patient and understanding the manager and her wonderful team were. The care staff were all so thoughtful and always treated my sister-in-law with dignity, respect and kindness. We were all impressed by the clean and comfortable room and choice of meals too. The manager and her immediate team (nurses and accounts) were amazing too, always approachable, no problem, small or great, was too much trouble to sort out. Sadly, my sister-in-law only had five months left but it was such a relief for us knowing her remaining time was when she was looked after in the most dignified and caring way possible. We, as a family, have already highly recommended the home to others.

My aunty has been a resident for fifteen-sixteen months. Excellent care by nurses and caring staff. Staff seemed to anticipate needs and address accordingly. Housekeeping and laundry staff are equally helpful, caring and communicative. Total confidence in care, nursing staff would ring should any medication change/review by GP/condition change.

I visited at least twice weekly, often more. As a registered nurse myself, I noted many situations where care was exemplary, not only to my aunty but to other residents. Impressive, kind, thoughtful staff members. Balloons and catering for special birthdays.

I have resided at Barchester Overslade House Care Home for one week, I did not know what to expect.
On arrival, I was welcomed with a friendly smile and taken to my room.
From the first day, a wide range of staff have introduced themselves and enquired of my likes and needs. Nothing has been too much trouble. Care has been taken to assist me around my disabilities.
As I was four days post-op on arrival, I was quite weak. In less than a week, I feel much better physically, mentally and emotionally. This is all down to the excellent care I have received from all the staff day and night.
Even though I am a younger resident receiving respite, I have witnessed residents receiving care and kindness.

I am so impressed by the care given to me, if and when I need care after my second operation, I will not hesitate to contact Overslade House.

My mother-in-law has recently entered Overslade House Nursing and Care Home following discharge from the hospital. From the very start, we have been impressed by all of the staff that we have encountered without exception. The staff show love, care and respect to service users and also demonstrate care and respect to relatives. They are very person-centred in their approach, and all members of staff encountered to date seem to be happy in their work. The management team are accessible to address concerns and to listen and is clearly very competent at managing their staff appropriately and keeping a happy working environment. In a previous occupation, I had contact with several care homes in the Rugby area, including one as the relative of a service user. I can safely say that, in my opinion, Overslade House is the best nursing and care home that I have encountered.

I cannot praise all the staff at Overslade highly enough. Mum came into their care for end of life, and everything they did for Mum was to make her happy and enjoy her final weeks. In Mum's last few days, it was very important to her to go into the garden. Mum was bedbound with limited speech and eyesight failing, but the nursing and HCA team made it possible for her; it was a beautiful time spent with Mum and nature. Every member of the team was kind, caring and loving towards Mum, but special recommendation for one lady who took control at the end, and I would not have coped without her.
