Overall Experience

Barchester Overslade House Care Home is an exceptionally run care setting during my two years of visiting. I have always been treated with respect. I have witnessed care being delivered always with dignity and kindness. Atmospherically it is a happy place to visit. I love the option of tea and cake and always fresh. Staff are always friendly and respectful. Overall this is a well run establishment. Rare to find now in the care sector.

My mum's referral to Overslade House for 6 weeks from the hospital has so far been great. The support beforehand for our family was outstanding and so reassuring. She was welcomed by all the staff and made to feel at home. The care so far has been absolutely great. The food is wonderful and the rooms and decor are beautiful.

My mother came to Overslade House Care Home after suffering a fall at home and with dementia. She was looked after very well in a period of roughly six months in Memory Lane and then in palliative care after hospitalisation with flu and pneumonia. Thanks to all the staff for making her experience and that of her family as pleasant as it could be in the circumstances.

The staff are very caring towards the patients and respect their decisions, nothing is too much trouble if you have any requests. Management is all very helpful and kind and will help t solve any problems that may arise. The cleanliness of the home is excellent. The entertainment is really good and a good variety. There are always drinks available on the dining tables which are set with fresh flowers and table cloths which makes it more homely. Very pleased with the home. Parking can be a problem at times.

My mother-in-law was initially sent to Overslade after being discharged from the hospital. It was our first experience in a care home and a big change for all of us - especially my mother-in-law. We cannot fault Overslade; the care, the staff and the environment are outstanding. We were particularly impressed with the activities that my mother-in-law really enjoyed. If we could have picked it up and moved it closer, she would still be there now. Thank you.

My mum moved in six months ago, I feel the transition into Overslade was very good. Mum has been made to feel welcome and part of the community within the home. The home is very clean, staff are friendly and helpful. I am so pleased with the home overall and my mum is very happy and settled there. She takes part in the activities, which are varied and good, and also trips out. My feelings are that I now have a mother-daughter relationship back since she has been there and that is thanks to the good care she receives.

The staff and management were amazing, every care was taken to ensure my mum was comfortable during her last few months. My mum has been a resident at Overslade House Care Home for over 2 months now. She has been treated with such dignity and kindness at all times. The carers and nurses really care about the residents and build up a lovely trust with them. Watching them work while we visit is awe-inspiring. They truly are remarkable at their jobs and nothing is too much trouble. Any problem is dealt with quickly and efficiently. The food at Overslade deserves a special mention. The residents are provided with such wonderful home-cooked meals which really help them to thrive, well-done Overslade!

My brother has been a resident at Overslade House Care Home for 3.5 years. From his arrival to his end-of-life care, he has been treated with kindness and respect. Managers, nurses, carers, housekeeping, cooks- all staff are warm, and helpful and make time to listen to relatives as well as residents. We have considerable experience in care and nursing homes, and this by far is one of the best we have found.

I will be eternally grateful for the quality of care provided for my lovely wife at your Rugby facility. Standards of care, both nursing and personal, were excellent, as were the facilities. My first impressions of Overslade House were very favourable, clean, homely, well laid out and decorated. Mom, since moving there, is very settled, and the staff operate in a personal, friendly and caring manner. They laugh and joke with both residents and visitors alike, creating a fun, pleasant environment. Personalising Mom's room was not a problem even with wall-mounted items. Food is cooked onsite. The gardens are well-kept. There's a lovely free cafe, and the manager is always happy to help personally.

Visitors to Overslade only get a very brief snapshot of the tireless work undertaken by the staff. It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time. Nevertheless all the staff over Overslade undertake without complaint one of the most demanding jobs on the planet - that of looking after the welfare of others not so fortunate. I am extremely grateful for their tireless dedication.

I qualified in 1977 as a general and mental health nurse in South Africa. I then went on to work in an A & E department and a TB Clinic. After taking time away to raise a family I returned to nursing by training as a Community Health Nurse and worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for 5 years managing 5 clinics in the area. I moved to the UK in 2004 and started working immediately for Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House where I also qualified as an NVQ assessor. I love working with people and helping them. I like the atmosphere at Overslade House, it is such a happy place to work as we all work as a team and this reflects on our residents. I appreciate the fact that the Company supports its staff to deliver a high standard of care. Out of work, I like all kinds of handcrafts, travelling and visiting my grandchild in South Africa.

I began my nursing career in 1998, having completed my nursing qualification in India, and bringing with me 27 years of nursing experience. In 2013, I further advanced my academic qualifications by completing a BSc (Hons) in Nursing at the University of Northampton.

Over the years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the Intensive Care Unit, where I gained valuable experience in delivering high-acuity patient care.

In 2020, I joined Overslade House (Barchester Healthcare) and have been part of the team ever since. I was drawn to Overslade House by its strong focus on quality patient care and the supportive, collaborative environment, which I believe are key to delivering excellent care outcomes. This is the kind of setting where I feel I can truly thrive as a nurse and continue to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and their families.

Whilst I am confident in my ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions, I greatly value teamwork.
