My father was admitted during May 2017. The care my father receives was the best he could have ever had. His quality of life was so improved. All of the staff became not only his best friends, but also friends to all of the family. Overslade is a happy home, providing function days for residents and
their family.
I have seen other care homes within my location, Overslade, in my opinion, is the best in the area. Now my father has sadly passed away, the family will miss visiting, it was such a nice home.

The home must be one of the best. My husband was losing blood in his catheter and went into the hospital for tests. The carer from the home who went with my husband could not have been better. He is now back at the home. His room overlooks a lovely garden with flowers and trees. The family could not
be more pleased.

My mother was admitted to Barchester Overslade House in June 2016 as a palliative care resident for possibly a few weeks or months.
Her care and treatment by the nursing staff was excellent. The carers were always considerate and thoughtful and the support team made her time there as enjoyable as possible.
Mum
died in May 2017, exceeding the life expectancy originally diagnosed and I feel this was, on the whole, because she received such an excellent level of care and support.
Mum died a few weeks ago but I feel that mum's last year was spent in comfortable surroundings, with dignity, constant care and she made many new friends.
The support also extended to all her family - we were always made welcome.

A close friend of long standing has been a resident of Barchester Overslade House Care Home for over a year and another close friend has just moved in. As an infrequent visitor, I have found the atmosphere to be warm and welcoming - together with professional and caring when dealing with the diverse
needs of everyone. Having experienced many similar homes, I would have no hesitation in saying Barchester Overslade House Care Home is the best.

Myself and my sister in law visited over a dozen nursing homes looking for a place for my husband who had Alzheimer's.
As soon as we walked into Overslade House we both knew this was the place. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, the home was spotlessly clean and beautiful and suitably decorated
for people with dementia. The meals were delicious and cooked fresh on the premises and nothing was too much trouble.
The care he received, in the three months he was there, was wonderful. They were so caring and supportive, not only to both him and myself but to the family and friends who were there constantly in his final days.

Overslade House was outstanding for the all to brief time our relative was staying there. Our experience could not have been any better. The care staff and nurses were all extremely kind, efficient, friendly, thoughtful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. The manager and
deputy manager's door was always open and they were extremely helpful and approachable, even before we had secured a room.
The rooms, facilities, food and surroundings were all superb. First class in every aspect.

We were all anxious and apprehensive about dad moving to a nursing home and truly feared that he would not settle. We could not have been more wrong; he is very happy and the staff have gone out of their way to help him feel valued. There have been hiccups but all have been resolved promptly and with
good humour.

My friend has been in since July 2015, since his admittance he has gone from pain and misery to content and care free. The staff management, cleaners, carers and entertainers are amazing. Always make visitors comfortable as well the residents. I can talk to anyone about his care or any worries. 100%
recommend this home for all they do for everyone. The cafe is a god send for us relatives to. Amazing quality. Thank you everyone. xx

Violeta

Violeta Baesu

Job Title: Senior General Manager Joined: 2004

I have been working at Overslade House since 2004 and I have found our home to be extremely welcoming and a happy place to live and work in.


I first qualified as a nurse in 1996 along with my husband and practised for 8 years in a hospital in Romania. I moved to the UK along with my family in 2004 and started my employment with Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House as a Senior Care Assistant. I then started my adaptation at Northampton University to allow me to qualify and practice as a nurse in the UK, this I completed in 2007 and I was promoted to RGN at Overslade. I then progressed to Head of Unit in 2011 shortly followed by promotion to Deputy Manager.


I have now taken up the position of General Manager at Overslade House and warmly embrace the opportunities this position will give me. At Overslade House we pride ourselves on the excellent care and skills that our staff possesses. It is my aim to maintain the happy, friendly and caring nature our home offers to our residents.

Helen Levine

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2010

I joined the team at Overslade House in 2010 as an Admin Assistant and has since then progressed to the role of Administrator. Previously, I have worked for CEGELEC and Jaguar Company Vehicles. My role is to ensure that the day-to-day administration of the home is kept up to date. If you have any questions regarding the home and funding then I am always happy to help.


In 2016, I was named as a Divisional Winner for Home Administration Champion in the Barchester Care Awards. Which is something I am immensely proud of, I also managed to complete my Level 3 Diploma in Administration and Business Studies. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to live music, so much so that I manage a popular Rugby-based punk rock band.

Genoveva Tamasi

Genoveva has been a nurse for over 30 years and joined Overslade House as a Senior Carer in 2007 and was then duly promoted to Head of Unit. Genoveva is a key member of the team here at Overslade House, as Clinical Lead she provides support throughout the home. She thoroughly embraces the opportunities and challenges of her role. Genoveva’s door is always open should you need any help or advice and she looks forward to many years at Overslade House.

Julie Bateman

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2021

Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Coordinator here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. Anneke Alston

Job Title: Head of Unit Joined: 2004

I qualified in 1977 as a general and mental health nurse in South Africa. I then went on to work in an A & E department and a TB Clinic. After taking time away to raise a family I returned to nursing by training as a Community Health Nurse and worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for 5 years managing 5 clinics in the area. I moved to the UK in 2004 and started working immediately for Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House where I also qualified as an NVQ assessor. I love working with people and helping them. I like the atmosphere at Overslade House, it is such a happy place to work as we all work as a team and this reflects on our residents. I appreciate the fact that the Company supports its staff to deliver a high standard of care. Out of work, I like all kinds of handcrafts, travelling and visiting my grandchild in South Africa.

Merline Geevamony

Job Title: Unit Nurse Manager Joined: 2020

I began my nursing career in 1998, having completed my nursing qualification in India, and bringing with me 27 years of nursing experience. In 2013, I further advanced my academic qualifications by completing a BSc (Hons) in Nursing at the University of Northampton.


Over the years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the Intensive Care Unit, where I gained valuable experience in delivering high-acuity patient care.


In 2020, I joined Overslade House (Barchester Healthcare) and have been part of the team ever since. I was drawn to Overslade House by its strong focus on quality patient care and the supportive, collaborative environment, which I believe are key to delivering excellent care outcomes. This is the kind of setting where I feel I can truly thrive as a nurse and continue to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and their families.


Whilst I am confident in my ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions, I greatly value teamwork. Working alongside colleagues allows me to share knowledge, gain new insights, and continuously improve the care I provide. I believe that collaboration is essential to high-quality nursing and contributes to positive and effective care.

Mandy Smith

I joined the team at Overslade House in 1996 and I am responsible for managing both the housekeeping and laundry teams. Under my supervision and expert eye for detail, Overslade House is kept clean, tidy and presentable at all times and a prompt laundry service is delivered. When I am not at work I spend a lot of time with my family and I also enjoy travelling.

Jacek

Jacek Kozik

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2007

I joined the team at Overslade House in 2007 as a Maintenance Assistant and was promoted to Head of Maintenance in 2011. I am responsible for ensuring that all maintenance is kept up to date and all equipment is tested and maintained to meet safety standards. I am aided by Paul, our gardener, who is responsible for keeping the grounds in a beautiful condition for residents to enjoy.


I spend my spare time playing 5-a-side football and I am also an avid supporter of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Maureen

Maureen Roberts

Job Title: Resident Ambassador Joined: 2025

Please meet one of our newly appointed Resident Ambassadors, Maureen Roberts. Maureen was born in Birmingham and was an auxiliary nurse in Birmingham before moving to Rugby. Maureen loves to listen to jazz and going to jazz festivals. Maureen's favourite band is the Beatles and she likes Mozart. Her favourite radio station is Tony Blackburn. Maureen would love to see Tony Blackburn live.


Maureen loves to go out on minibus trips with the home and likes to join in with as many activities as possible, particularly live music and themed events. When Maureen was asked to be one of our Resident Ambassadors, Maureen said, “I would be absolutely delighted and highly honoured. I cannot praise this home enough, and I love it here. Everybody is so kind and wonderful.”


The role allows Maureen to be the voice of every resident in the home, acting as a liaison between residents and management to ensure that everyone’s well-being and life enrichment needs are met as well as concerns being addressed. The Resident Ambassador is also a friendly face to potential residents who can find it challenging during the transition into a care home. The Resident Ambassador can also be asked to be present at employee interviews.

Cecil

Cecil Gill

Job Title: Volunteer Joined: 2018

Cecil Gill is a valued volunteer at Overslade House who gives his time to our residents weekly to offer emotional and spiritual support. Cecil was in the Christian ministry for over 50 years, mainly in the villages in Norfolk and Essex, and retired to Rugby in 2014 where shortly afterwards they became part of the ‘Gift of years’, working in care homes in the town, and which he hopes to continue to do in Overslade for the foreseeable future.


Cecil has lived in Rugby for 10 years; he has four grown-up children and 6 grandchildren whom he loves spending time with. Cecil enjoys walking and over the years has walked many miles in and around Rugby. Especially along the canals. Cecil also enjoys gardening.


Cecil said, “We count it a privilege to be chaplains in Overslade care home, where we represent the Rugby churches, offering spiritual care through reading the Bible, prayer and conversation with the residents”.
