My mum is a resident at Overslade House. She has been cared for at the Home for a year. I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff for assisting us to celebrate so many important family events during this time. My mum's 90th birthday, my dad's 94th birthday and their 67th wedding anniversary.
The staff have embraced each event - providing food, cake, decorations, energy & love - thank you!

My mum became a resident at Overslade in February 2021 when the challenges of living with Alzheimer's became too difficult to manage. Initially mum took a while to settle and the team found her behaviours a challenge, but they quickly learned to understand and manage mum's needs. The team of carers
always treated mum with dignity and respect and I felt that they genuinely cared about her. They were also very supportive of me throughout mum's time here. Unfortunately mum passed away suddenly in June 2025 and even in death, there was a great deal of care and compassion shown. There are too many names to mention but the head of unit, clinical lead, senior general manager, administrator and another member of staff, in particular, all have made mum's stay much more bearable for me - I never wanted her to go into care and always promised her that it wouldn't happen - life often throw a curve ball at you! Thank you.

The management of Overslade House very kindly offered me a room at very short notice after suddenly I was unable to walk or look after myself. I have enjoyed my 3 and a half months stay here and have received outstanding care from the cleaners, carers, kitchen staff, handymen, nurses and management.
I have been impressed by the high level of teamwork and cooperation throughout the staff.
I have experienced kindness, consideration and understanding from all the staff who work to the highest professional standards. The food is good and varied. The entertainment team work hard to provide an excellent programme of events. The atmosphere of friendly encouragement helped me to prepare for my operation and assisted in my recovery after surgery. I have visited care homes throughout England and Wales but none have reached the high standards within Overslade House.

Absolutely Wonderful! After visiting every care home in this area for my mother last year after her Alzheimer's diagnosis. I knew instantly on walking into Overslade House this was the one. The feel was peaceful, the staff were all so welcoming and kind and happy. All smiling in their work and so attentive
with residents. The Manager and her management team went above and beyond to help us and get us the solution we needed and wanted for her future care and rest of her life. Their attention to detail and constant communication and reassurance was outstanding and still is many, many months on. Regular check ins and updates, communication is excellent. My mother is so happy, interacts with residents, has put weight on and looks the best she has in years considering the decline in her disease. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent care for a family member. 10 out of 10 to the management and staff of Barchester & Overslade House.

Brilliant place for our mum to stay.
This is mum's third visit to Overslade House whilst we go on holiday. Mum thoroughly enjoys her stay with the staff at the home from home. She has Alzheimer's and leaving her with other people was quite a daunting task especially as she lives with me usually.
Mum loves the atmosphere and the staff are brilliant. Her guests are always made to feel welcome and she loves joining in the activities. God willing, mum will be staying at Overslade on more dates in the future. Keep up the good work all.

After an initial transfer from hospital late December, our mother has settled and generally improved over the last few months due to the kind and caring expertise and perseverance of all the staff. Overslade the family found a wonderful place for our father to be in. The food has improved but could they take red cabbage off the menu no one really likes it. Try green cabbage, perhapes the staff (kitchen) or the chef could get to speak to the families. Variy the meals a little. We would recommend
Overslade House the staff are marvelous I miss them. We moved Dad to a home near where I live he will miss them too.

After reading reviews, I decided to take my mother and have a look around Barchester. My mother suffers from advanced dementia, but I wasn't sure how she would react. Within an hour or so, you'd of thought she'd been a resident there for a while. She took to all the staff straight away, and was more
than happy to stay that day. All the staff there are fantastic, nothing too much trouble. Ive now got piece of mind that my mother is very well looked after there. Thank you to all at Barchester.

My parents now live in Overslade House and have been here over a year now. as a fmaily we are very happy with the care they are given
on Sunday 2nd March it was my dad's 84th Birthday, and Overslade went above and beyond to make sure my dad had a lovely birthday the coffee shop was decorated beautiful,
and a big thanks to the chef for the wonderful food, the chef also came to see us to make sure we were happy with everything. Well done Overslade.

We were very impressed by this care home. The cleanliness was excellent. The staff very friendly. The friend we came to visit was confined to bed and the care he received was excellent. Staff seemed to be well trained.
The quality of the food seemed very good.
We were also offered drinks, and when
the staff heard we were travelling home (2hrs+_ on the second visit, we were given sandwiches etc.

I had to book my mum into short-term respite care at fairly short notice after she moved out of her house, before her assisted living flat was ready for her to move into. We had no previous experience of care home facilities. The manager and deputy manager were so incredibly helpful and kind. They are
very experienced and really helped me with making decisions as to what was best for my mum. All the rest of the staff, from the admin team to the wonderful carers, nurses, catering staff and entertainment team, were all amazing and always approachable. They were kind, patient, friendly and supportive to both my mum while she was in unfamiliar surroundings and to me and the rest of the family. The food was lovely and the whole place was always extremely clean and tidy.
I would recommend Overslade House and their wonderful care to anyone.

My father came to Barchester Overslade House Care Home to recover from a fall, with a view of going home. However, he enjoyed his stay so much he decided to become a resident.
All of his children were happy with his decision knowing he would be safe and well cared for.
The consideration to family
members and others was excellent, with no restriction on visiting times. Plenty to drink/eat. Friendly staff. Fantastic!

My mum came to Barchester Overslade House Care Home - my home of choice - from an atrocious social services placement. Mum arrived malnourished and broken in spirit. By day 2 in Overslade, she was engaging, happier, well cared for and safe. 4 weeks in, and she is really happy and settled, she enjoys
the food, loves the staff and even joins in with activities - all a remarkable change and due to the staff in the home and how lovely the surroundings are. Thank you to the managers and the lovely carers, you have transformed my mum.

Violeta

Violeta Baesu

Job Title: Senior General Manager Joined: 2004

I have been working at Overslade House since 2004 and I have found our home to be extremely welcoming and a happy place to live and work in.


I first qualified as a nurse in 1996 along with my husband and practised for 8 years in a hospital in Romania. I moved to the UK along with my family in 2004 and started my employment with Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House as a Senior Care Assistant. I then started my adaptation at Northampton University to allow me to qualify and practice as a nurse in the UK, this I completed in 2007 and I was promoted to RGN at Overslade. I then progressed to Head of Unit in 2011 shortly followed by promotion to Deputy Manager.


I have now taken up the position of General Manager at Overslade House and warmly embrace the opportunities this position will give me. At Overslade House we pride ourselves on the excellent care and skills that our staff possesses. It is my aim to maintain the happy, friendly and caring nature our home offers to our residents.

Helen

Helen Levine

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2010

I joined the team at Overslade House in 2010 as an Admin Assistant and has since then progressed to the role of Administrator. Previously, I have worked for CEGELEC and Jaguar Company Vehicles. My role is to ensure that the day-to-day administration of the home is kept up to date. If you have any questions regarding the home and funding then I am always happy to help.


In 2016, I was named as a Divisional Winner for Home Administration Champion in the Barchester Care Awards. Which is something I am immensely proud of, I also managed to complete my Level 3 Diploma in Administration and Business Studies. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to live music, so much so that I manage a popular Rugby-based punk rock band.

Genoveva Tamasi

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2007

Genoveva has been a nurse for over 30 years and joined Overslade House as a Senior Carer in 2007 and was then duly promoted to Head of Unit. Genoveva is a key member of the team here at Overslade House, as Clinical Lead she provides support throughout the home. She thoroughly embraces the opportunities and challenges of her role. Genoveva’s door is always open should you need any help or advice and she looks forward to many years at Overslade House.

Julie Bateman

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2021

Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Coordinator here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. Anneke Alston

Job Title: Head of Unit Joined: 2004

I qualified in 1977 as a general and mental health nurse in South Africa. I then went on to work in an A & E department and a TB Clinic. After taking time away to raise a family I returned to nursing by training as a Community Health Nurse and worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for 5 years managing 5 clinics in the area. I moved to the UK in 2004 and started working immediately for Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House where I also qualified as an NVQ assessor. I love working with people and helping them. I like the atmosphere at Overslade House, it is such a happy place to work as we all work as a team and this reflects on our residents. I began my nursing career in 1998, having completed my nursing qualification in India, and bringing with me 27 years of nursing experience. In 2013, I further advanced my academic qualifications by completing a BSc (Hons) in Nursing at the University of Northampton.


Over the years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the Intensive Care Unit, where I gained valuable experience in delivering high-acuity patient care.


In 2020, I joined Overslade House (Barchester Healthcare) and have been part of the team ever since. I was drawn to Overslade House by its strong focus on quality patient care and the supportive, collaborative environment, which I believe are key to delivering excellent care outcomes. This is the kind of setting where I feel I can truly thrive as a nurse and continue to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and their families.


Whilst I am confident in my ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions, I greatly value teamwork. Working alongside colleagues allows me to share knowledge, gain new insights, and continuously improve the care I provide. I believe that collaboration is essential to high-quality nursing and contributes to positive and effective care.

Mandy Smith

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 1996

I joined the team at Overslade House in 1996 and I am responsible for managing both the housekeeping and laundry teams. Under my supervision and expert eye for detail, Overslade House is kept clean, tidy and presentable at all times and a prompt laundry service is delivered. When I am not at work I spend a lot of time with my family and I also enjoy travelling.

Jacek Kozik

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2007

I joined the team at Overslade House in 2007 as a Maintenance Assistant and was promoted to Head of Maintenance in 2011. I am responsible for ensuring that all maintenance is kept up to date and all equipment is tested and maintained to meet safety standards. I am aided by Paul, our gardener, who is responsible for keeping the grounds in a beautiful condition for residents to enjoy.


I spend my spare time playing 5-a-side football and I am also an avid supporter of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

We are thrilled to introduce Corey, our new chef at Overslade House Care Home. Corey has a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals tailored to our resident’s needs. Corey is dedicated to enhancing the dining experience at Overslade House. We are excited to have Corey as part of our team and look forward to the delightful dishes he will prepare for our community.

Maureen

Maureen Roberts

Job Title: Resident Ambassador Joined: 2025

Please meet one of our newly appointed Resident Ambassadors, Maureen Roberts. Maureen was born in Birmingham and was an auxiliary nurse in Birmingham before moving to Rugby. Maureen loves to listen to jazz and going to jazz festivals. Maureen's favourite band is the Beatles and she likes Mozart. Her favourite radio station is Tony Blackburn. Maureen would love to see Tony Blackburn live.


Maureen loves to go out on minibus trips with the home and likes to join in with as many activities as possible, particularly live music and themed events. When Maureen was asked to be one of our Resident Ambassadors, Maureen said, “I would be absolutely delighted and highly honoured. I cannot praise this home enough, and I love it here. Everybody is so kind and wonderful.”


The role allows Maureen to be the voice of every resident in the home, acting as a liaison between residents and management to ensure that everyone’s well-being and life enrichment needs are met as well as concerns being addressed. The Resident Ambassador is also a friendly face to potential residents who can find it challenging during the transition into a care home. The Resident Ambassador can also be asked to be present at employee interviews.

Cecil

Cecil Gill

Job Title: Volunteer Joined: 2018

Cecil Gill is a valued volunteer at Overslade House who gives his time to our residents weekly to offer emotional and spiritual support. Cecil was in the Christian ministry for over 50 years, mainly in the villages in Norfolk and Essex, and retired to Rugby in 2014 where shortly afterwards they became part of the ‘Gift of years’, working in care homes in the town, and which he hopes to continue to do in Overslade for the foreseeable future.


Cecil has lived in Rugby for 10 years; he has four grown-up children and 6 grandchildren whom he loves spending time with. Cecil enjoys walking and over the years has walked many miles in and around Rugby. Especially along the canals. Cecil also enjoys gardening.


Cecil said, “We count it a privilege to be chaplains in Overslade care home, where we represent the Rugby churches, offering spiritual care through reading the Bible, prayer and conversation with the residents”.
