I have been working at Overslade House since 2004 and I have found our home to be extremely welcoming and a happy place to live and work in.
I first qualified as a nurse in 1996 along with my husband and practised for 8 years in a hospital in Romania. I moved to the UK along with my family in 2004 and started my employment with Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House as a Senior Care Assistant. I then started my adaptation at Northampton University to allow me to qualify and practice as a nurse in the UK, this I completed in 2007 and I was promoted to RGN at Overslade. I then progressed to Head of Unit in 2011 shortly followed by promotion to Deputy Manager.
I have now taken up the position of General Manager at Overslade House and warmly embrace the opportunities this position will give me. At Overslade House we pride ourselves on the excellent care and skills that our staff possesses. It is my aim to maintain the happy, friendly and caring nature our home offers to our residents.
I joined the team at Overslade House in 2010 as an Admin Assistant and has since then progressed to the role of Administrator. Previously, I have worked for CEGELEC and Jaguar Company Vehicles. My role is to ensure that the day-to-day administration of the home is kept up to date. If you have any questions regarding the home and funding then I am always happy to help.
In 2016, I was named as a Divisional Winner for Home Administration Champion in the Barchester Care Awards. Which is something I am immensely proud of, I also managed to complete my Level 3 Diploma in Administration and Business Studies. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to live music, so much so that I manage a popular Rugby-based punk rock band.
Genoveva has been a nurse for over 30 years and joined Overslade House as a Senior Carer in 2007 and was then duly promoted to Head of Unit. Genoveva is a key member of the team here at Overslade House, as Clinical Lead she provides support throughout the home. She thoroughly embraces the opportunities and challenges of her role. Genoveva’s door is always open should you need any help or advice and she looks forward to many years at Overslade House.
Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Coordinator here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. We are always open to new ideas, if you'd like to contact me please call the home on 01788 522577 or email me direct on overslade.activities@barchester.com - New entertainers always welcome.
I qualified in 1977 as a general and mental health nurse in South Africa. I then went on to work in an A & E department and a TB Clinic. After taking time away to raise a family I returned to nursing by training as a Community Health Nurse and worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for 5 years managing 5 clinics in the area. I moved to the UK in 2004 and started working immediately for Barchester Healthcare at Overslade House where I also qualified as an NVQ assessor. I love working with people and helping them. I like the atmosphere at Overslade House, it is such a happy place to work as we all work as a team and this reflects on our residents. I appreciate the fact that the Company supports its staff to deliver a high standard of care. Out of work, I like all kinds of handcrafts, travelling and visiting my grandchild in South Africa.
I began my nursing career in 1998, having completed my nursing qualification in India, and bringing with me 27 years of nursing experience. In 2013, I further advanced my academic qualifications by completing a BSc (Hons) in Nursing at the University of Northampton.
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the Intensive Care Unit, where I gained valuable experience in delivering high-acuity patient care.
In 2020, I joined Overslade House (Barchester Healthcare) and have been part of the team ever since. I was drawn to Overslade House by its strong focus on quality patient care and the supportive, collaborative environment, which I believe are key to delivering excellent care outcomes. This is the kind of setting where I feel I can truly thrive as a nurse and continue to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and their families.
Whilst I am confident in my ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions, I greatly value teamwork. Working alongside colleagues allows me to share knowledge, gain new insights, and continuously improve the care I provide. I believe that collaboration is essential to high-quality nursing and contributes to positive and effective care.
I joined the team at Overslade House in 1996 and I am responsible for managing both the housekeeping and laundry teams. Under my supervision and expert eye for detail, Overslade House is kept clean, tidy and presentable at all times and a prompt laundry service is delivered. When I am not at work I spend a lot of time with my family and I also enjoy travelling.
I joined the team at Overslade House in 2007 as a Maintenance Assistant and was promoted to Head of Maintenance in 2011. I am responsible for ensuring that all maintenance is kept up to date and all equipment is tested and maintained to meet safety standards. I am aided by Paul, our gardener, who is responsible for keeping the grounds in a beautiful condition for residents to enjoy.
I spend my spare time playing 5-a-side football and I am also an avid supporter of Manchester United and Real Madrid.
We are thrilled to introduce Corey, our new chef at Overslade House Care Home. Corey has a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals tailored to our resident’s needs. Corey is dedicated to enhancing the dining experience at Overslade House. We are excited to have Corey as part of our team and look forward to the delightful dishes he will prepare for our community.
Please meet one of our newly appointed Resident Ambassadors, Maureen Roberts. Maureen was born in Birmingham and was an auxiliary nurse in Birmingham before moving to Rugby. Maureen loves to listen to jazz and going to jazz festivals. Maureen's favourite band is the Beatles and she likes Mozart. Her favourite radio station is Tony Blackburn. Maureen would love to see Tony Blackburn live.
Maureen loves to go out on minibus trips with the home and likes to join in with as many activities as possible, particularly live music and themed events. When Maureen was asked to be one of our Resident Ambassadors, Maureen said, “I would be absolutely delighted and highly honoured. I cannot praise this home enough, and I love it here. Everybody is so kind and wonderful.”
The role allows Maureen to be the voice of every resident in the home, acting as a liaison between residents and management to ensure that everyone’s well-being and life enrichment needs are met as well as concerns being addressed. The Resident Ambassador is also a friendly face to potential residents who can find it challenging during the transition into a care home. The Resident Ambassador can also be asked to be present at employee interviews.
Cecil Gill is a valued volunteer at Overslade House who gives his time to our residents weekly to offer emotional and spiritual support. Cecil was in the Christian ministry for over 50 years, mainly in the villages in Norfolk and Essex, and retired to Rugby in 2014 where shortly afterwards they became part of the ‘Gift of years’, working in care homes in the town, and which he hopes to continue to do in Overslade for the foreseeable future.
Cecil has lived in Rugby for 10 years; he has four grown-up children and 6 grandchildren whom he loves spending time with. Cecil enjoys walking and over the years has walked many miles in and around Rugby. Especially along the canals. Cecil also enjoys gardening.
Cecil said, “We count it a privilege to be chaplains in Overslade care home, where we represent the Rugby churches, offering spiritual care through reading the Bible, prayer and conversation with the residents”.
