Thank you for your kind words regarding the care that your mother receives at Moorland House; it goes without saying it is a pleasure. One of the good things that has come from the pandemic is that we all needed to find another way of communicating with loved ones and video calls are the way forward. As always, we will try and accommodate your visits as we appreciate how valuable they are to your mother and you. We wish you and your family a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you for your observational comments relating to Moorland House and staff - this acknowledgement is very much appreciated. Your sister-in-law was a very special lady who has been visiting initially her brother for a number of years and then came to live with us in the final year and she was very much loved and cared for and the staff truly miss her.
Thank you for your acknowledgement of Moorland House facilities as well as the appreciation that you and your father had for all the staff that supported him in the home. Your father was one true gentleman and I know that every member of staff respected and loved looking after him, especially in his later time. He will be sorely missed by staff and residents alike and we send you our sincere condolences.
Thank you for your acknowledgement relating to the support that your mum and your family have received from the staff and management at Moorland House. We are really pleased that your mum has now settled into her new home and whilst it was a difficult period initially, by working together with you and other professionals we have managed to overcome some of the primary difficulties and your mum has become more involved with the activities at the home. Your mum is a very interesting lady and has a wealth of knowledge about gardens and different plants and has educated us all here at the home and she is a pleasure to look after.
Your mum has been one of the longest residents that we have welcomed at Moorland House, 12 years and counting. She makes the most of the activities that we provide at the home as well as having visits from the Chaplain at the home. Your mum has always shown praise and thanks to the staff at the home and she is a pleasure to have in the home. She contributes in various ways and has made some really good friends at Moorland House and always makes new residents to the home feel welcomed.
Thank you for your acknowledgement of Moorland House. We are pleased to provide a home that your mum feels safe and secure in. We do offer a varied programme of activities at the home and are always changing the programme to ensure everyone’s interests are provided for. Your mum contributes to these programmes as well as enjoying the company of others whilst taking part.
Thank you for the confidence that you have with the staff at Moorland House in being kind caring and having patience. I am sure they will agree that they all enjoy working at the home and looking after the resident's needs with care, dignity and compassion. Rest assured that although we are restricted with the guidelines, we will continue to provide the quality of care to your mum with the same enthusiasm as previous COVID and will continue to keep you informed of your mum's welfare.
Thank you for your acknowledgement of the hard work and care that the staff at Moorland House have provided; as you say through the COVID period. I am pleased that you feel you have been informed, and we have plans to continue with updating the relatives via emails and Zoom meetings. Whilst it has been difficult, at times, the residents at the home, especially your mum, have remained positive, and we have managed to keep spirits up in the home with ensuring that we continue with activities and celebrations, albeit in the home.
Thank you for your kind comments regarding Moorland House. We can also say with fondness that your mum is very much loved and respected, and we are pleased to be looking after her. Since moving from her home four years ago, she adapted to her change in environment and she is a big part of Moorland House.
Thank you for your time to review Moorland House, facilities and the staff; this is very much appreciated and I know that the staff will feel valued that their work and commitment has been recognised. It is imperative that we promote each and every resident's preferences and facilitate their routines so that they still feel in control of their choices. We recognise how important families are in decision making and aware that their support can help residents to settle into their new surroundings as well as being an advocate for them; this is welcomed. It has been a difficult time during the COVID-19 period for everyone, including families, but we will continue to support and find alternatives to solutions so that you can still maintain contact.
Thank you for your comments especially in relation to the staff and the efforts they have put in to secure the wellbeing of the residents; this is much appreciated and I echo your sentiments. Your mother is a valued member of the home and is involved in the indoor and outdoor activities that are really important in keeping the residents stimulated and in touch with developing the social interaction that we all need. Although the residents have, like everyone else, been restricted in what we can do, your mother has still managed to continue what she likes doing at the home. She walks in the grounds and gardens of Moorland House with friends that she has made (keeping 2 metres apart ) and I agree these are lovely. She has recently had a seed kit for growing plants in the garden so is busy with this project at the moment. She is a pleasure to know and care for and we are blessed she chose Moorland House.
It is really appreciated that you have taken the time to review Moorland House and our staff. Your friend is very respected and thought of fondly with the residents at the home. She does enjoy the interaction at lunchtime, socialising with friends she has made here. She has a lovely nature and very friendly towards staff and residents alike. She has settled in her room at the home and although thought she would like to change when she had the opportunity to do so chose to stay where she is. Staff and the residents at the home look forward to the church and congregation making the time to come to the home and clap for the carers; this gesture makes everyone’s hard work feel valued.
I am so pleased that you have highlighted the difficulties that some residents may have when moving from their own environment to a new one. I and the care staff are pleased that for your mother this was a smooth transition. Your mother is a very likable and friendly person and she loves having a cup of tea and a chat with the residents and staff alike. We value her contribution at the home in being involved with activities as well as having good ideas to bring to the residents' meetings. New residents to the home are always welcomed by your mum and she soon makes them feel part of the group at the home. It is important that relatives such as yourself are also a big part of the community and we will be forever grateful for the design and time that you gave to the home in creating the new bar area in the home for our residents to enjoy for years to come. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of our home, staff and facilities; I know that this will mean a great deal for staff. Hopefully, now that we are in phase 1 of opening the home for a family member to visit, this will elevate the difficult time that our residents have experienced through this pandemic. Activities have also been re-instated as well, as the coordinator had been off work. We hope to see new residents to the home as due to the strict infection controls by the staff we are able now to welcome new admissions and knowing your mother she will welcome these as much as she does the staff.
Thank you for your positive review of Moorland House and the staff; this is much appreciated. I know staff would say with modesty that they are just doing their job but I echo how much more they give to make your mother feel valued and respected as well as cared for. The home's gardens are an asset to the home, especially in the summer when we can have some different activities going off that the residents do enjoy being involved in. The surrounding area in Hathersage is also beautiful and this can be seen throughout the building from different viewpoints. It is always good to hear that you and your mother are pleased with the home she has chosen, and it is a pleasure to have her living here.
Thank you for your positive comments about Moorland House and the observations that you made in relation to the home care delivery and the environment; this is greatly appreciated.
I alongside the staff send our heartfelt condolences to you and your family and I know that we will miss your father greatly as he contributed and was involved in the decision making and changes benefit of all through the regular residents meetings we have at the home. He was an advocate for the residents and also ensured that we looked at any issues and addressed these to ensure that any changes or improvements were made so that the residents best interests and opinions were listened to. I will certainly miss seeing him sat at the entrance to the home and will miss the chats that we had; he was a true gentleman.
Thank you for taking time to complete a review for Moorland House, I know this will be greeted with pride from the carers and managers. It is a pleasure to take care of your mother who I may add is fitter than most people that are not nearly half her age. Her enthusiasm in getting involved with the activities in and outside the home is an inspiration to others that may not always take part in if it wasn’t for your mother's persuasions. It is comforting to know that she enjoys living at Moorland House and sees this as her home as we always try to ensure the transition from their familiar surroundings to the home is a smooth one.
Thank you for your positive review of Moorland House and the staff, this is very much appreciated. It was sad that we did not share more time with your mother until she became ill. I know I speak for all the staff and residents when I say how lovely your mother was and how privileged we were in caring and supporting her during her illness. Whilst she only came for a short period, as respite, she stayed with us longer than planned due to the situation involving the pandemic that we are facing. It is heartening to know you expressed that the staff are kind, caring and compassionate in their delivery of care and we would like to express our condolences to you and your family and for you to know that it was a pleasure to be able to have looked after her.

I have worked in the care sector since 1998 after completing my university studies. Initially working with Children in Care then I moved to working with older people and this is where my passion is. I have been part of the MHA team since February 2017 and worked at Queenswood in Nottingham first then moved to Moorland house 2018 and I love the home, residents and we are blessed to have a wonderful staff team. I am married to Bri and I have 2 sons Adam, Tim and 2 grandchildren Ophelia and Cosette and daughter in law Sophie. I live in Chesterfield and my interests are reading and watching dramas and movies this helps me to unwind. We recently adopted a dog (pug) called Alfie that we are trying unsuccessfully to train. I enjoy going on all types of holidays and spending time with my family and extended family.
I have been in the care industry for over 10 years now and worked in numerous care environments such as Residential, Assisted Living, Domiciliary and also training. Since the age of 21 I have always had a job role in a senior position. I have learnt a wide range of skills and knowledge in the care sector throughout the years, and I have always been passionate in providing the highest standards of person-centred care. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming which to me, is what makes Moorland House so different to previous homes I have worked in. The staff team who I work alongside with are an absolute credit to the home and MHA as a whole. My favourite part of the job has always been interacting with the residents, hearing their individual stories or just simply seeing them smile. I have worked at Moorland House for over 2 years now and I’ve never been happier! Outside of work, I’m usually spending time with my 7 year old daughter and going on adventures together with our Labrador puppy, Harley.
I have worked at Moorland House in an administrative role for 17 years, being promoted to Administration Manager around 4 years ago. I am passionate about ensuring that residents and staff have the best possible experience of living and working at Moorland House. I think Moorland House is special, because we provide our residents with a ‘home’, not a Home. Our friendly family atmosphere is one of the first things that visitors to the home notice, and I am incredibly proud of that. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren and walking in the beautiful local countryside with my two dogs, Nev and Aggie.
I started working here as a Chaplain in August 2020 and I had such a warm welcome from staff and residents. As part of my job role, I work alongside our amazingly talented Activity Coordinator getting involved in activities participating with residents and spending quality time with them all such as playing scrabble every Tuesday and also arts and crafts. I carry out a midweek service every Wednesday morning and also hold a prayer group every Friday morning. I am always available to talk to anyone, staff, residents, relatives as a listening ear. I spent over 20 years working for the NHS as a Pharmacy Technician in hospitals in London and Essex and more latterly at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. I am very involved at St. Thomas’ the local Anglican church where amongst other things I help lead the Home Bible Group for the older folk and help run ‘Young at Heart’ once a month where we get together for a cup of tea, a piece of cake and plenty of chat.
