My husband has dementia and the staff were caring and made you feel welcome. The care home was very clean and did not smell. My husband enjoyed his stay and joined in with activities.

On visiting this care home on the occasion feel things are slowly becoming better. But still feel a lack of communication. I was waiting for a nurse to visit my father from out of the home concerning infection apparently she phoned to cancel but this was not relayed to me. If I had not gone and asked
after waiting an hour I still could be there now! I did go to the nurse's station as soon as I arrived to and believe the phone call they were taking was the one from the nurses to cancel! Frustration.
And my father is still lacking getting a regular drink.

Overall the staff were welcoming, caring, respectful and supportive in managing my dad.
This was his first experience of a care home, although there's no place like home, he came out with a very positive experience.
Concerns about my dad's general health were dealt with immediately with a positive
outcome for dad. Thanks.

This home has a lovely atmosphere.
My family and I visited recently with a lot of young children. There was plenty of board games provided which they enjoyed playing in the large bright conservatory while my mother sat with us. It felt like being at home which was great. The staff are always polite
and helpful.

The staff were very friendly, patient and treated mum well, however we felt there were insufficient people with similar dementia problems for mum to relate to, than we were first lead to believe, coupled with mum's reluctance to accept that she was in an environment with people of high nursing needs.
So it was decided by the family to move mum to a residential home nearer to me, we hope this proves successful, but mum's denial of her dementia will always prove problem-some.

Mother placed as step-sown from hospital. Experience has convinced her long term care is best for her. The level of care provided is excellent. The food was remarkably good and for first time in years she is eating properly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home and its staff to anyone.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.502)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.502) out of 10 for Aspen Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.152 for Aspen Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.152
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aspen Court Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
