I cannot express my gratitude enough, dad (Freddo) came to Brookfields from the Derby Royal for palliative care.
Unfortunately he was only there for 3 weeks, but in those weeks the staff could not do enough for him, and us.
Every staff member who attended to dad also attended to Liz who was able to
stay with him throughout his weeks in their care.
From the moment you rang the bell to when you left you are treated with warmth, care and compassion.
Thank you
Mandy

My experience so far has been outstanding. Everyone is pleased to help you. You can get through to speak to the team and nothing is too much trouble. Dad has really improved since discharge from hospital where he was not allowed out of bed. Brookfield have made a big effort to get him to interact with
others & join in with daily activities. Dad likes the food, has a lovely room and seems to have settled in quickly. I am relieved that he is being so well cared for.

The wonderful staff looked after my mum in the final months of her life. They went out of their way to make her time there comfortable and happy. The staff couldn't do enough for her, and by extension, us,as a family during the final days. The nurses, carers, cleaners and office staff are all very
friendly and welcoming, looking after our needs as much as my mums. Everyone did all in their power to make my mum feel happy, and content. When the time came for her to to leave us, she was treated with so much dignity and respect, which I'm afraid is lacking in other care homes.

Brookfields Nursing Home have been amazing. Right from when I first came to look round, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and supportive. My friend moved in to be looked after whilst having chemotherapy and it was most definitely the right decision. They really made a tough time more bearable.
I would definitely recommend them.

My mum was a resident at Brookfields for the final weeks of her life. Every member of staff, from managers, cleaners, catering team, auxiliaries and nurses, supported us through an extremely sad and difficult time. They were consistently professional, efficient, caring, thoughtful, and above all, kind.
They treated my mum with dignity and gently but honestly guided us through.

The rooms were warm and comfortable, feeling more like a family home. The food was exceptional, with the catering team and auxiliary nurses going above and beyond to support mum and the family, even making sure to have all of mum's favourites. Nothing was ever too much.

We can't thank Brookfields enough for everything they did in those weeks. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for support, particularly end of life care.

I really can't speak highly enough of everything that is Brookfields - Mum has been a resident for a couple of years now and never ever have I experienced anything other than utmost care and kindness from the staff, both towards the residents and also relatives. Their patience with Mum is enormous -
she is often difficult and rude, but they remain respectful and gentle.
Every single staff member in every department shows the same good nature, whether it's kitchen, laundry, maintenance, back office or nursing and care. The kitchen is spotless and the food is freshly cooked, wholesome, delicious and healthy. The home itself is beautifully clean, light and airy. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I didn't think that this sort of place still existed when I found it, but it's the best possible place I could have chosen for Mum. I am eternally grateful to everyone at Brookfields and hope they realise just how much it means to me to have Mum living under their care. Thank you X

My 98 year old father was in urgent need of care following a series of falls & increasing frailty. Brookfields welcomed us from the first visit on the Friday & speedily arranged for him to move in on the Tuesday! It's such a friendly, welcoming home that feels like your own home not a care or nursing
home. The staff are all helpful, caring & considerate. The premises are spotlessly clean, the laundry services are excellent and the attention to detail is amazing. My father settled in easily & is now so much happier and relaxed. He still has his own choices & the support being provided is exceptional. I've just had to order him some new trousers as he is putting weight on with the excellent food provided! I would highly recommend Brookfields to anyone looking for a caring, family run home for their relative or friend.

My 93 year old father was admitted from hospital.
He was widowed 2 months previously after a marriage of 70 years.
The staff at Brookfields welcomed him, my sister and I. They were caring and understood of his needs.
He always appears well cared for and tells us he likes it here as people care.

From our first approach to visit Brookfields to arrange a rapid discharge from hospital, the staff were welcoming and reassuring. We were immediately able to relax for the first time in weeks and feel Mum would be well cared for in an environment that felt homely rather than institutional. The food
was amazing, all home cooked. Mum put on weight and had her difficult allergy managed immediately so she could and wanted to eat. All the staff were caring, and friendly and did what they could to keep Mum comfortable with appropriate equipment. The place was spotless and the laundry also immaculate. Medical staff were called when appropriate and weekly visits from the attached advanced nurse practitioner was really useful too. There were plenty of activities for those who wanted with a weekly paper quiz sheet for those unable to leave their own room. All the little touches made the difference. You couldn't do better than Brookfields for care be it residential or end of life nursing care.

My aunt was diagnosed with terminal cancer and moved to Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd for end-of-life care in November. We chose the home as my father was in there for end-of-life care in February 2018 and the care had been excellent.
The home is beautiful. The staff are superb, they make you
feel very welcome and are so kind and caring to the residents. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone requiring nursing care.

Your home was recommended by a family member. My father has been with you since August 2024. The care he receives is of a very high standard, the staff are all welcoming and friendly. They deal with all nursing care issues in a professional manner. My father was very reluctant to go into a care setting
but he and myself couldn't wish for a better home, which is family run and would recommend this home to any other members of our family if the circumstances arise.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.966) out of 10 for Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.966 for Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (337 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 349 Ratings = 4.966
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2018

I have always wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I trained in Derby in 1988 at the age of 17 which was the soonest I could train at both the DRI and City Hospital. I qualified in 1991 and went on to work in a local nursing home. Over the 29 years I have worked as a nurse or manager in local homes, I found the best one (Brookfields) in August 2018.
