When you find yourself in a situation having to find a parent a care home, it is a stressful, emotional and unsettling time for the individual and all the family. You want the best care for a loved one. Have I made the right choice? is the question you ask yourself.
Mum has been at Brookfields for
nearly 4 months, boy I hit the jackpot!! Superb care.
The most important aspect for us as a family is the care that my mum receives. All mum's needs are met with dignity and professionalism. Holistic and individual care plans. All the staff are approachable, listen to families and genuinely care about your loved one.
Mum is not able to engage in many of the activities, but is always included. It’s inclusive, weekly varied activities for the residents. Families receive a weekly bulletin of activities and news. The staff are a credit to the home. Excellent team of staff who have welcomed Mum and genuinely care about her well being.

Dad has been at Brookfields for almost six months. His care has been wonderful in all ways and he is now settled and happy. As soon as you walk in the door there is an air of calm efficiency by all staff which leaves you knowing that your loved one is being cared for in the best way possible. All of
the staff are so welcoming and friendly and there are lots of activities for the residents to get involved in. If you’re looking for a care home to cater for all the needs of a treasured member of your family then Brookfields should be top of your list!

Just visited Mum on 2nd/3rd July. She has been at Brookfields now since September 2021, and has really settled well into life there, and considers Brookfields her home, and part of the Brookfields family.
Mum is very well cared for, comfortable and safe; she has a wonderful rapport with all the staff,
which is wonderful to see on our visits.
As visitors we are made welcome, offered tea and coffee, and have a chat with the staff, some of whom we've got to know. Brookfields does really feel like a big family (but in a good way!).
I feel we've found the best possible place for Mum now that she is unable to live independently.

This is the most wonderful place and we are so lucky.
My mother deteriorated very quickly last week and the staff found her a bed and even remembered it was the room my father had been in.
The care is just stunning and the communication is good- the staff genuinely love and cares for the residents-
clinical and non clinical.
Thank you so so much for being there- you are literally a godsend.

As I am based in North London, my comments are those resulting from my three weekly visits, where I stay in the local area for three days - visiting my mother on each of those days. When in London, my contact is limited to twice weekly phone calls. I am therefore not able to address all of the sections.
When visiting Brookfields, the atmosphere is always positive and welcoming. I am therefore in all circumstances, happy for my mother to be a resident of the nursing home.

Our father has been a resident of Brookfield for only a few weeks, however during that time he has improved enormously.
The care he's receiving is second to none, the staff are so so friendly, professional and so, so polite, nothing appears to be a problem for any of them. The food is excellent, there
are plenty of activities to occupy the residents and the environment is so homely. When my time comes to be cared for I certainly hope I find myself in a place like Brookfield.
Brookfield is a credit to all involved and you should be proud of what you have created.

Since my relative’s arrival early this year (2023) the team at Brookfields Private Nursing Home have been welcoming, supportive and inclusive.
My relative has a lovely room which accommodates her own personal possessions making her feel very comfortable and happy.
She highly rates the food and enjoys
going down to eat with other residents at least twice a day.
The care is excellent and personal care is well scheduled and respectful.
Activities are varied and fun and available to all who can associate in a group setting or in their rooms if unable to attend.
My family are so happy to see the change in our relative. We’re confident of her being well looked after at this loving, caring and welcoming home.
This is to the credit of all staff concerned.

A few years ago, my father-in-law was in the home for a brief time before he passed away. We were impressed with all of the aspects of the home that we experienced during that short time. As a result, we were happy to recommend to our friend that she apply for a place at Brookfields. In our opinion,
the Home is still managed very well and it feels comfortable and hygienic as soon as you walk in. The staff are professional, welcoming and helpful and our friend's room is excellent in all respects. Plenty of activities/services are laid on for the residents with a weekly 'Brookfields Bulletin' being produced and distributed accordingly. Meals are very good with the specific need of each resident being duly taken on board. All in all a very positive picture.

My husband has been at the nursing home for five months and he has received excellent care during this time. It was a huge worry for me trying to find the right place for him, but from the moment I went to look at the home, I immediately felt it was the right place for him.
As soon as you walk into
the building, you feel the warm atmosphere and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. The rooms are always kept lovely and clean. The food is freshly cooked to a high standard and if you want anything, in particular, they will try and provide it, given adequate notice. Those residents who enjoy a glass of wine with their meal, only have to ask. The cleaners, carers and nurses have all been wonderful and they all conduct themselves in a professional manner, but also have a laugh with the residents. There are regular activities organised for the residents and birthday cakes are individually made for them. It is these little touches that make this home special.

Mum has been at Brookfields for two weeks today (13th Jan). From day one we have experienced expertise, compassion, empathy and humour. Mum and I have been on that difficult journey with many others. I wish everyone could find somewhere which helps them realise that a care home is not a negative step.
It is wonderful to know Mum is so well cared for and that the responsibility is not all mine. Mum is settling in well. Thank you.

Mum moved into Brookfields in November 2022. She was reluctant to be anywhere other than home, to be honest, but the staff were very kind and supportive and she seems to have settled. Staff are always bright and cheerful when we have met them and that seems to be Mum's experience too. As my husband
and I both went down with Covid just before Christmas, Mum was in Brookfields for Christmas Day ( and New Year's Day) which was sad, but residents had a lovely time with a beautiful meal and a visit from Father Christmas with a gift. Staff were very patient with Mum's procrastination over moving rooms when the one she went in initially didn't suit her, but when she decided she would move, staff kindly relocated her - for which I was very grateful. They also thoughtfully provided a pre-booked Christmas afternoon tea in the lounge (just Mum and three guests), beautifully done, in lieu of a Christmas party, to avoid spreading infection. Well done.

My dad was admitted straight from the hospital and was in a very fragile state, mentally and physically when he arrived. With the team's expert care and patience, they have nursed Dad back to his bright former self in such a short time. We have just celebrated Dad's 90th birthday and we all look forward
to a safe and happy future and Brookfield's.

My dad was transferred recently to Brookfield. From the moment I viewed the home when deciding on where he should go, I was very impressed. From just standing in the entrance it felt warm and welcoming. The Matron is lovely and listens to worries and concerns and genuinely wants to make my dad's stay
comfortable. The staff we've met in the first week are all lovely, his room is cosy and warm. The food choices are great and always smell delicious, I think it is slowly bringing my dad's appetite back. I highly recommend this home.

Mum moved into Brookfields a month ago, from hospital. I was worried about the whole residential home scenario but need not have worried. Mum is very well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. The staff are fabulous and the home, absolutely spotless. So cosy and welcoming. The food is excellent.
Mum is always wearing her own clothes and always looks clean and cared for. Thank you, to the whole team, for treating my mum so well. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you to anyone looking for nursing care in this area.

Mum came to Brookfields 2 months ago and on behalf of the family, I can say that we are all really happy with our choice of nursing home. Mum has been thrilled with the staff, the care, attention and meals. There is a wonderful family atmosphere amongst the staff and with the residents. Everyone is
happy and content. The facilities are of an excellent standard and there is always an interesting variety of activities and events going on for the residents and staff. We couldn't have wished for a better home for our mum. Thank you all so much!

We moved my father to Brookfields from another residential home, as we wanted him to be in an environment where he could build a rapport with consistent staff and they could develop a long-term bond with him, and us. Since his arrival in August, the staff have been lovely and cared for him with the
level of respect and affection we wanted for him. I feel a weight lifted, knowing they are caring for him properly and that he is happy. If you are looking for an environment with experienced and consistent staff, who will go that extra mile for their residents, who are also there to support and reassure relatives, all with a sprinkling of good humour, Brookfields exemplifies this.

My mother is a fairly new resident, the difference is amazing. She's eating and drinking again, which she hadn't done for a number of weeks previously. The care is second to none and I cannot praise the staff enough. Mum is always clean and very well cared for. Her room is spotless, as is the rest of

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.949)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.949) out of 10 for Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.949 for Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (298 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 314 Ratings = 4.949
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookfields Private Nursing Home Ltd is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2018

I have always wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I trained in Derby in 1988 at the age of 17 which was the soonest I could train at both the DRI and City Hospital. I qualified in 1991 and went on to work in a local nursing home. Over the 29 years I have worked as a nurse or manager in local homes, I found the best one (Brookfields) in August 2018.
