Staff are very kind, but at weekends are under a lot of pressure as they are very often short of staff and take time to come to bells. Often miss out on the once a week bath.

The home is very friendly and welcoming. The staff seem very caring and provide some good activities. Residents decorate their rooms as they wish and have a choice of lounges to use. The gardens are beautiful and mum likes to sit outside and watch the ducklings on the pond whilst having an ice cream.
The food is homemade and mum has put weight on! Lots of visitors who join in. Glad we chose this place, they look after mum very well.

Very good, friendly, resident helped to feel at home, visitors and family made welcome at all times. Excellent care staff, quick to respond especially in an emergency. Good homely food and choice if needed. Home is very clean with excellent cleaning and laundry staff. Nice gardens.

My aunt is very well looked after and always clean and tidy. The food is excellent. The carers are friendly, all the staff are very friendly. She is very happy.

Dad never wanted to go in a home, but due to ill health, he needed to.
He settled in quickly and was very happy because of the friendly and caring staff.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the care and compassion shown by both the nursing staff and care assistants to my father. Having lived a number of years on his own not coping with the daily life he was very set in his ways. Personal hygiene could be an issue but the staff have dealt with these
issues sensitively, and he now is happy to cooperate. His room is small but pleasantly furnished with a relaxing colour scheme. Communication from the staff is good and if I have any worries about my father's health they will find the time to speak to me.
There seems to be a good range of food offered, but kitchen staff will prepare something else if the resident prefers.
Although my father tends to keep to himself there is a range of activities to keep the residents entertained.
The gardens are lovely and my dad did enjoy seeing the ducklings grow over the summer.
I have found all the staff friendly and approachable.
Finally, my father is very happy and that's the most important thing.

My partner has been in Elmwood since January 2013, after suffering a fall at home which crushed her spine. The hospital discovered breast cancer, a brain tumour, type 2 diabetes and dementia. Most of the carers do really care, the rest simply go through the motions i.e. her hearing aid went through
the laundry! It was ruined. I was told by the laundry staff this often happens. Watches, wallets, false teeth etc have all been through the laundry.


Television controls are often placed out of reach of the residents as are bedside tables containing drinks. Lack of concentration due to gossiping. Not all carers are guilty of the above but too many are. Possessions are often broken, such as ornaments, vases etc. the only lift has been out of order six times in 3 years. No fire drill evacuation of residents in 3 years.

Always a warm, friendly welcome from all staff, whether on phone or face to face. All areas are clean and cheerful. Nursing care appears to be very good, seriously disabled lady, bed bound for several weeks soon graduated to a wheelchair, day clothes and visit to an attractive lounge for a couple of
hours a day. I am a stranger to the town but only heard good reports of Elmwood so am very thankful that a place was found for my sister.

The lady this relates to is almost totally disabled and had a speech impediment caused by M.S. Her life for at least 7 years prior admission to 'Elmwood House Nursing Home' was one of isolation from the real world. The staff and atmosphere in the care home have brought her to the realisation that she
is a person. She looks 10 years younger, her speech has improved and she is contented with her flat.

My brother was admitted to Elmwood House for end of life care, from outside the country. Although he was only in the home for 1 week, the level of care was of a high level throughout his stay. All of the staff we met have a great attitude and gave support to us all. I was kept fully informed at all
times and I could see my brother had the constant attention that he required. I would recommend the home to anyone in similar circumstances.

My mother was in the adjacent care home (with dementia) until a stroke necessitated nursing care. She was consequently moved to Elmwood. Staff are excellent and the manager is forthcoming and commutative. My mothers condition is distressing, but my family and I firmly believe that she could not be in
a better place, under the circumstances.

What does ‘kind care’ mean to you?


“To bring a smile to the face of each resident I speak with, and to make sure each resident is comfortable, pain free and happy.”


As a Registered Nurse, Liliana has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.


Liliana closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Liliana remarked:


“I love being able to make decisions that help our residents, and I also like being here for my colleagues when they need me.


I like to work with people, for people. My biggest sense of achievement at work is when people feel they can trust me.”


Outside of work, Liliana enjoys traveling, especially meeting new people and learning about different cultures, customs and traditions. She also likes listening to music.
