Avenue House Nursing & Care Home has been a home to both my mum and dad in their latter years. Although you wouldn't necessarily choose to place your parents in a care home I know both of my parents have been very well looked after and cared for. They have provided what I couldn't, a safe and homely environment which fully meets their needs. The staff are amazing and really take the time to get to know all residents likes and dislikes. When a new activity coordinator is in place, the score will rise.

I'm very pleased with Avenue House. Staff are very kind and helpful. My mum feels safe and cared for. Food is fresh - varied choices - lounges - rooms are always clean - laundry service is very good and I can visit at all times which is lovely. Activities are very good - very safe environment.

The staff are very friendly and there was nothing they wouldn't do for you and I know my mother is really being looked after which is in itself a comfort for me as I live a distance away.

My aunt was transferred from hospital in September 2014 to Avenue House. I was impressed at once with the friendly, caring attitude of the manager and her team. Sadly, my aunt died shortly afterwards.
My uncle was treated with great kindness. When my uncle needed nursing 3 years later, Avenue House was our first choice. He is well looked after and is made to feel comfortable and safe.

To his joy he finds the food good and to his liking. His room is bright and airy with a garden view. My rating of excellent is given because Avenue House deserves such a commendation. I would recommend Avenue House.

Previous care home manager has returned and home atmosphere has improved.

Staff morale is now very good and this, in turn, has improved the well being of the residents.

My Aunt has been at Avenue House for five months following a long stay in hospital. She had stopped eating and drinking and was very poorly, bed bound and not 3expeed to survive long. The staff at Avenue House have turned her around. She has put back on more than a stone in weight and now occasionally sits out in the lounge with other residents. She is relaxed and settled here.

Over the 4 years that my mother has been in this home, the standards have varied considerably. At the beginning it was excellent but after the manager left things changed. However, now that the original manager has returned, the standards are increasing day by day. The staff are happy and that reflects throughout the home. They are very caring towards my 97-year-old mother who is now bedridden. She is always clean, as is her room.

As a family, we are very satisfied that our Mum is receiving good care and attention. She was very poorly and underweight when she first arrived and now is thriving and on the whole appears happy. The staff team are friendly and interact well with the residents. We have been kept informed of any issues in a timely way. We hope with the arrival of the new activities coordinator that some structure and organised activities can be a regular thing as it is very important to stimulate people.
