Ten years ago, my mother-in-law received care and kindness at Pytchley Court for the last two months of her life.
Now, a dear friend, in her mid-nineties is at Pytchley Court via several weeks in hospital, seriously ill. Within two weeks of going to Pytchlet Court, in a "bed-ridden" state and scarcely
eating or drinking, my friend is up during the day in a chair. Eating much better, receiving visitors and thriving. Her hair looks lovely and all the staff I've met couldn't be kinder or more welcoming. It's a wonderful place.

When my husband first came into the home it was very hard for me. It was as though I had lost him but with the kind help of the staff and he has settled quite well and feels much better, I don't worry so much when I leave him. Thank you.

My mother is unable to walk and needs a hoist operated by two staff. She has occasional visits to the doctor/hospital/dentist and is accompanied by a carer. I have to provide soap, toothpaste and tissues for her, which surprised me but might be a general requirement of all care homes.
She sits in
the dayroom and watches television and occasionally attends a short concert put on for the residents with appropriate vintage music. She tends to keep to herself and at the age of 92 this is unlikely to change, but I think the idea of residents being interviewed and a book of memories being kept is a good one and could benefit future generations. The staff are caring and respond to all her needs.

I have found all the staff to be very kind, friendly and attentive to residents.
I feel my father is very well cared for.
He looks well looked after - clean, tidy, comfortable and happy.
They tend to his needs very well and despite his shortcomings in communication, they managed to get to know him
well and understand his character in a short space of time.
Medically they are very on the ball and well equipped to deal with a wide range of health issues.

My mother has only been in your care for a few weeks she has low blood pressure the staff are monitoring it regularly. I am very very happy that she is out of her bed and is sitting in the lounge instead of being confined to her room all day. The carers ask her how she is feeling and if there are any
signs of her blood pressure dropping they take her back to bed. All staff are very friendly and approachable if any assistance is required. I feel confident that my mother is receiving the care that is required.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.889) out of 10 for Pytchley Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.914 for Pytchley Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 222 Ratings = 4.914
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pytchley Court Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
