Overview

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Beeches Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 26 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Beeches Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.64 for Beeches Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (209 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 308 Ratings = 4.64

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beeches Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 10.8 positive Reviews (54 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 10.8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.6 Beeches Care Home has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.640) from 26 Reviews

Mum was a resident at the Beeches Care HOme from May 2016. All the time she was a resident she was happy and extremely well cared for. The staff treated her as an individual and responded to her needs at all times. Her end of life care was exemplary for both mum and the family, could not be faulted. Many many thanks to the whole of the team.

Over the years Mum has been comfortable in the Beeches due to the commitment of all the staff to take care of my Mum. There have been changes of management over the years which has only got better.
Better structured and organised, entertainment has also got better, the room has been updated.

We cannot have hoped for our Mum to spend her final days in a more wonderful place as the Beeches Care Home.

Everything the manager and her staff did for us was done so efficiently and with such kindness and understanding.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.

Although my wonderful wife of over 57 years was only in the Beeches Nursing Home in Arnold, Nottingham for six days (she was on 'fast track' from hospital in Nottingham), her stay here was exceptionally memorable. The manageress and her staff catered for her every need. Our close family were made very welcome, as we were in attendance every day, my youngest daughter and I spent the final two nights with her. Having so much support in the saddest time of our lives has left a lasting impression. So many smiles, so many memories and her passing so peaceful. Thank you all once again.

Staff good, kind, caring but always very busy and not enough of them.
Home is clean but the lounge is a bit "hospital like" and garden needs to be more user friendly, more garden furniture, landscaped and flower beds as well as user friendly seating.
Meals generally good, sausages served on Saturdays awful.

Katie Price, Careline Advisor at Beeches Care Home responded to this review on 06 Nov 2017:

Since July 2017 a new home manager has been in post who has been working with staff in order to promote the visibility of staff within the home, along with promoting communication between staff, residents and relatives with the relaunch of a monthly newsletter to inform them of changes taking place within the home.

The lounge and dining areas are scheduled to undergo full refresh works in the coming months in order to promote the resident’s experience and general wellbeing.

The garden area at the front of the home has had a number of flower pots and hanging baskets in place since early summer along with two seating areas that have new garden furniture. The seating area at the back of the home is fully accessible to residents, however, once the refresh works in the home are completed there are plans to extend this seating area and create an area with wheelchair accessible flower beds that will enable all residents to participate in gardening if they so wish.
We are also continually reviewing our mealtime experience and therefore encourage residents and visitors to the home to inform us of any issues with regards to food at the time so that we might be able to rectify this in a more timely manner.

The manager has only been in place for a few weeks and has to reorganise the home. My sister is a long term resident and was self-funded initially, but now contributes to her payments from works pension fund and state pension. Local authority pay the rest. My sister is "special needs" from birth.

My husband is also a resident and not very mobile due to a long term illness. The staff are very kind to him.

Since becoming a resident at The Beeches in December 2015, my father's health has improved dramatically. He has gained weight and although he still misses his "old home", he has benefitted tremendously from having company.

My father does have health issues, obviously, but the GP is always called promptly she the need arises and this gives me peace of mind.

Overall, my father is looked after very well and I cannot thank the staff enough.

During the short time I have been here, the Beeches has become "home" to me. The staff are friendly, caring and attentive to me even though I am able bodied compared to some of the other residents.
The home is very clean, food is good. I have the opportunity to be by myself if I need to.

Our experience was outstanding. Every need was given to my mother above and beyond our expectations. My mother was always kept clean, looked pleasantly dressed and never had a bad word to say about management or staff.
Nothing seemed too much trouble, even when my mother had to be hoisted out of a chair into a wheelchair to be able to go outside for a cigarette, or a walk to the local shops etc. We were always met with a smile from whoever opened the door, kept up to date with every aspect (eating, drinking, medications etc). When my mother was nearing the end of her life we were able to stay overnight and be with her. Thank you all.

Although mum's stay was short she was very quickly made to feel at home at The Beeches. The staff showed great kindness to her as she settled into her new environment. At the time of her death and following it they also took the time to care for us as a family. Thanks to everyone involved in any aspect of mum;'s care you were all great.

After experience with several nursing homes when my elderly parents needed care I was somewhat worried when my husband needed care. I need not have worried as the level of care, kindness and dignity shown to all the residents is second to none and has restored my faith in care homes.
I go frequently into The Beeches and I feel that everyone from the manager, the administrator and all the staff have become our friends. We are shown friendliness, always made to feel as though we matter and I have observed these traits carried through to all the residents. I have particularly impressed with the cleanliness and freshness of the home. I have also observed the high standard and choice of the food served in hotel conditions. Well done everyone!!

My dad has been cared for at The Beeches since October 2015 and the service and care provision are excellent. The staff and management are all lovely, caring people and treat the residents like family. This creates a comfortable, pleasant and welcoming atmosphere which you feel as soon as you walk through the door.
My dad has Alzheimer's and finding people who care and understand is not easy but we know that he is happy at The Beeches. They are also very kind to relatives of residents and extend a warm welcome to everyone.

Our relative had a terminal illness and was treated very well. She died early am (7.30 ish) and one of the carers was with her when she died and held her hand (superb). We visited regularly and the staff were always pleasant and helpful.

Manager very welcoming and understanding, helpful with any problems or concerns, she installs confidence in care of your relative. Carers are very friendly, welcoming and go to great lengths to make a relative comfortable and attend to their needs physically and mentally (e.g to cheer them up when they are feeling tearful and relatives too) all the staff cleaners, cooks provide and contribute to a lovely clean home and enjoyable food.

My mother has been at The Beeches for nearly three years and I am extremely satisfied with the care she gets from everyone there. All the staff are so kind and helpful, the carers are wonderful and the kitchen staff, office staff and cleaners are so kind. I have peace of mind knowing that my mother is well looked after by everyone there and that her food, medication and everything else is given to her with every care. I am satisfied that I definitely chose the right home for her.

I cannot praise too highly the care and attention received by my wife in this care home. A doctor is called when it is thought necessary. Personal attention for chiropody and hairdressing are a regular provision. The rooms and corridors are bright and nicely appointed and clean. All staff are patient, cheerful and attentive.

My husband is in remission from prostate cancer, he has mobility problems and memory loss. He is now 85 years and I have been his carer for over ten years. I am 80 years old and recently required respite help for him. We were lucky enough to find that this was available at The Beeches which is very near to our home. My husband spent a week there in October and loved it. He is now attending two days each week and it has definitely become a life changing experience for both of us. All the staff from the manager and everyone else have shown kindness and consideration to us and all my husbands needs have been addressed in ways that have exceeded my expectations.

My mother now aged 97 had been at The Beeches Arnold Nottingham for over 3 ½ years. Prior to that she had lived independently until having a stroke and several falls. Since being in this care home she has put on weight, eats, sleeps well, enjoys company, stimulating and various activities, music, movement/dance. Visits her local church and torch trust for the blind. Both manager, deputy and all the staff including cook, handyman are friendly, helpful and go to considerable lengths to care for and love my quite demanding mum, highly recommended.

My Aunt was in this care home from April till August for end of life care. The staff are marvelous, and take as much care with relatives of the residents as the residents themselves. Up until 3 weeks before my Aunt died she really enjoyed being at the Beeches, for the company and all the care that was shown to her. She enjoyed having her hair done and mixing with the other residents. Also when the local school children did shows, she enjoyed that too. I can't thank the staff at Beeches enough for making my Aunt's last months pleasurable and comfortable to the end.
