My father-in-law has spent the last few weeks of his life here and received excellent end of life care. The staff and facilities were exceptional. He really felt as though he was at home, which was important to us. We were able to become his family again instead of his full-time carers.
We cannot thank
Field House enough for the care given, which was a great relief to all his family members.

I would like to thank all the staff for the wonderful care given to my mother and our family as we visited her. I called in looking for a suitable nursing home for my mother who had end-stage Parkinson's disease, I was made welcome by the manager, given a cup of coffee and he explained what Church
Farm offers especially to those with advanced stages of the disease and perhaps coming to the end of their lives.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The rooms clean and tidy with a communal area/dining room, watching the meals being served it felt like one big happy family!

My mother's care was superb and her dignity respected. The family visited a lot during her final days and we were always welcome. It was a comfort to know we could rely on staff to look after her when we weren't there.

I work as a GP and so am familiar with a lot of care and nursing homes, without doubt, this is one of the very best.

Thank you all again for looking after Mum and family!

Mum loved it at Field House. I was dreading having to put her into a home. She loved it and was happy all the time. The carers were wonderful to her. They arrived whenever the bell was pushed, even inadvertently. She loved to sing in the lounge and adored her room. It was, and I am sure is, a really
friendly place for her to be and she loved the food - interesting as we really had to make her eat at home! Especially the fish and chips!

I believe this to be an excellent care home and that my aunty was extremely well looked after during her stay. My aunty often told me how happy she was at Church Farm at Field House and how pleased she was to be in such pleasant surroundings with caring and friendly people to help her.

Mum was admitted for end of life care after a month on a hospital ward. The transfer was seamless and she saw a local GP just after arrival - excellent administration.
Nursing care was of the highest order. Staff had full understanding of her conditions.
What really impressed me was the care shown
to Mum and ourselves by everyone there.
I work in the health service and haven't seen better care, compassion and kindness.

Mum took some time to settle in but everyone was gentle and reassuring. She needed quite a lot of nursing care and this was delivered professionally, the staff liaised with me where necessary and sought the help of the GP when needed.
It was always easy to call and get reports on mum's health or talk
to mum herself. Visiting is not restricted to all and the electronic entry system ensures security. Mum had less than a year in Church Farm at Field House but she was well looked after, comfortable and never in pain. Thanks to all the staff for their professionalism and compassion.

My husband was a resident at Field House for the last two years of his life and whilst the decision to place him in a nursing home was a very difficult one for myself and family to make, we all felt that we could not have chosen a better or more caring home for him to reside in.
He was always treated
with the greatest respect and consideration. As a family, we were also made to feel welcome when visiting.

Church Farm at Field House has been exceptional in its attention to the multiple needs of my helpless wife. They include her immobility and blindness plus Multiple Sclerosis, osteoporosis and dementia. The management and staff have shown the utmost professionalism throughout in the growing number of
aspects with her deterioration. Every opportunity is taken to accommodate her deficiencies and ensure her comforts are maintained to the highest professional standards.

As a family, we have been impressed by the quality of facilities offered. In addition to the excellent attitudes and values of social care, there is an impressive feeding regime that caters well for all tastes and palates. Many opportunities are taken to investigate the interminable difficulties of disabilities. We know our loved one is in good hands.

My mum spent the last week of her life at Field House, she was cared for with dignity, kindness and compassion. We felt supported by all of the staff who did everything they could to make mum comfortable. The medical care from the nursing staff and doctor at the health centre was also excellent.

The level of care at this home is unsurpassed. I often wondered how I would feel placing my mother into nursing care but I am fully confident that she is being well cared for and I have never had cause for concern. All the staff are exceptional and work hard whilst keeping the residents' dignity, and
are a credit to the home.

It is always clean and tidy, spotless in fact, with the feel of a home and not a nursing home. The operation of all duties is executed perfectly and although everyone is busy working, nothing is too much trouble should you need assistance. I am very happy that my mother is in the best place possible and wouldn't have it any other way.

We would like to take a moment to thank all of the staff for their kindness, care and dedication in looking after our mother in the last year of her life. There is no doubt that their excellent care had certainly extended her life expectancy and this confirms our sincere belief that everyone has played
a major part in extending the limited quality of her life in one form or another.

My mum was admitted for end-of-life care. My sister and I, who are both retired nurses, wanted to look after her at home, so it was very difficult and upsetting to accept that we couldn't. However, the staff couldn't have been kinder. They all looked after mum, my sister and I with such tenderness,
compassion and professionalism, that we were able to give her all the love, dignity and peace that she so deserved. We will be forever grateful to every one of them. Mum was only there for 10 days and they were in the middle of building work, but they did everything in their power to ensure it was quiet for her.
I only wish she had been there for longer and had been able to get involved with all the excellent activities on offer.

We have always been very pleased with mum's care at Church Farm at Field House. She had always been kept extremely comfortable and the care assistants were always compassionate to her needs. Her room was very homely as we were allowed to bring items of furniture and her own nic nacs from home. We found
that the home had a quiet and relaxing atmosphere which suited mum in her condition.

My mum came to Field House for respite care following a broken hip. During her stay, she also suffered the trauma of my dad's death. The staff at Field House could not have been kinder, both to my mum and the rest of the family. They showed great empathy to us all. There are many truly wonderful
and dedicated staff here who played a huge part in turning my mum from a bereft, frightened old lady into a happy, settled resident. I cannot recommend this care home highly enough and cannot fault the level of care in any way at all.

We chose Field House for our mum's palliative care as we got a good feeling when we first visited. All the staff made Mum's short period of time there as comfortable as possible and whatever she needed was never too much trouble. The end of life and medical staff particularly were wonderful and very
accommodating to us as family, with our visiting and a kindly ear or shoulder to cry on. They are currently going through a programme of updating and upgrading the facilities, which will only benefit the residents and working conditions for the staff. Their on-call doctors were also wonderful. Big thanks to you all.

My mother who suffered from dementia developed terminal cancer and was admitted to Field House Nursing Home for end of life care from April to September 2016. I was extremely satisfied with all aspects of the care home and felt my mother was well cared for during her stay. After the residents, the staff
are the most important factors and I can't thank the staff enough for looking after my mother with compassion. She also enjoyed the food. Thanks to everyone involved.

My mother lived at Field House from July 2015 until her death in November 2016. She was delighted to have celebrated her 100th Birthday there in September 2016. Everyone (staff and residents) joined in on my mother's special day, when she received very many congratulations including from The Queen.
Having lived locally, mum had previously visited friends in the home and had jokingly stated that one day she would probably become a resident.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the nursing home. All the staff (management, nurses, carers and all other departments such as the handyman, laundry and not forgetting the kitchen) did their very best. My mother especially enjoyed chatting to everyone who looked after her. I know she was very grateful to all.

My father used Field House for the first time as respite care for 3 weeks. It was an enjoyable stay. Comfortable, good food, activities daily and a warm feel to the place. Staff were friendly, respectful and courteous at all times to both residents and visitors. Dignity is a priority. Good home cooked
food, special requests were no problem either. We will definitely be using Field House again, and recommend this place for individuals looking for a home environment for their loved one.

My mother has been a resident at Field House Home and Day Care Service since August 2013. She has several, severe physical disabilities and her mental condition has steadily deteriorated. The medical care she has received has cleared up though she has become wheelchair bound. As she is blind and nearly
deaf, mental stimulation is very difficult, even with family. I have no illusions that she represents a considerable challenge to staff but I feel they do their utmost for her, but as she has to be moved with a hoist, she does feel vulnerable. In our presence, the staff are courteous and always caring. There is no doubt they try their utmost but of course, they cannot give one to one care. They have responded to our requests concerning her need for sunlight and changes of scenery. She is well fed and retains her weight.

Though the building is old, it was maintained well and clean. The room was adequate and clean with friendly staff. I visited every day to see my wife and found the staff pleasant, caring and willing to listen to their residents and visitors, they were always helpful. My wife had a pleasant stay there
and she was happy and relaxed. The staff maintained a good professional relationship with the local GP's and they get a good and efficient service from the doctors for the residents.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.861)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.861) out of 10 for Church Farm at Field House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.588 for Church Farm at Field House is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.588
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.273 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Church Farm at Field House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.673
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
