Skylarks, West Bridgford, was by far and away the best care home my elderly dad had ever been in. He'd had Parkinson's for 18 years. From the lovely staff, the genuine day to day care - tailored to suit his needs - to the fantastic communication from management and office staff, I cannot praise the
place enough. Would highly recommend for the trusted care of your loved one.

The care and support Dad has received has been wonderful. He was very frail and weak when he was admitted. He has been encouraged to eat and drink and has now put on weight. As a result he is now stronger and looks very well. On a personal note I would like to thank the managers and staff for all the

Dad was welcomed in to Wren Hall which felt like a home from home. As visitors we are always warmly received and greeted with smiles. Everyone is so approachable. The staff care for dad with dignity and respect despite his complex health needs. With the amazing training the staff understand dementia
and as such provide care and support to amazing standards. I am also impressed with the cleanliness of the home which I'm sure can be a difficult job with all the spills and accidents. Communication with family members with regular relatives meetings is also helpful.

ABSOLUTE ANGELS WHO HAVE GIVEN MY MUM HER LIFE, INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY BACK.. .
Mum has only been here couple of months after a very tough time in another home that stripped her of her abilities to do things herself, her dignity and nursed her in bed, didn't allow her to stand since mother's day.
FAST
FORWARD TO NOW....
Within 1/2 hour of being in this place they assessed her for standing and enabled her to walk to the toilet {something she hadn't done over over 16wk}. She now gets involved in her own personal care and gets out of her bed and room.
Not only have the wonderful carers got her walking they have also got her eating too and most importantly not given up on her.
Mum has been involved, encouraged and praised every step of the way to get her back to living rather than existing.
Thank you team for everything you've done for mum and us. You've taken away the sleepiness night's of us worrying about mum and you all make us feel like we are part of the homes family.

My Mother was a participant of the a Day Care Centre for nearly 18 months, during this time I was impressed with the total care package provided by the organisation. When my mother deteriorated to the point of requiring additional support, Wren Hall was the logical next step, this has proved to be
an excellent choice as she settled into life at Wren Hall quicker than anticipated. This is down to the dedication of all the staff and the attention to detail to my mother's needs.

My mum has been cared for at Wren Hall since October 2024 when she had to move from her previous care home. The care she receives is quite exceptional. The training the care teams are given means they understand the true nature of Alzheimer's and therefore cope with my mum's challenging behaviours with

My mother moved to Church Farm at Cotgrave in April 2025, and from the very beginning it's felt like a place rooted in warmth, dignity, and genuine care. The staff are consistently kind, attentive, and patient, creating a home where she's not just looked after but truly known. The environment is peaceful
and thoughtfully designed, with lovely enclosed gardens and familiar household spaces that help her feel settled and safe. The emphasis on meaningful daily activities has brought comfort and gentle purpose to her days. We feel incredibly grateful to have found this home.

My much loved father lived here for nearly 2 years. Dad was looked after with warmth, care , compassion and respect. He was part of the community. Staff went 'over and above board' to facilitate 2 Christmas trips out we had. There is very much a positive ethos of ' let's do our best to make this

This is a lovely home with lots of character (the grounds, staff and residents!) When my relative transitioned to another home Rusticus made is easy, nothing was too much trouble, the managers explained everything in clear detail and I felt at ease. I have been involved in all aspects of her care and
when I visit everyone is so welcoming. Everyone is so kind, I see lots of things happening and unlike the previous home, residents are not just sat around sleeping or staring into space with nothing to do and just 'wasting away'. It's good to see the wonderful work that goes on to keeping people with lots of needs, happy and well. My relative has flourished and that is all due to the collective efforts of the staff.

I live in Devon and much of my communication about Mum is via Relatives Portal and telephone conversations. All staff are friendly and very helpful. On my visits to Wren Hall the whole team are very caring towards all residents and my Mum has developed some lovely relationships. Nothing is too much
trouble.
There are some activities which Mum really enjoys such as ball games and chair balloon batting. She really likes to be useful and enjoys activities like washing and drying some dishes. In her past she has been an accomplished flower arranger. It would be lovely if there were opportunities for her to do some of this.
She loves the company of young children and thoroughly enjoys seeing as well as spending time with them. She has always been very sociable and loves chatting. More opportunities to do so with residents or day care attendees would be greatly appreciated. This has been discussed with staff in the past, but not yet put in place.

My brother and I visit our Mum every week. She has been at Church Farm at Rusticus for approximately 18 months. We always find Mum dressed and clean. She sits quietly by herself most of the time (which is her way) and the staff often stop by to ask her if she is OK, and if she wants a drink or something
to eat. We are always made to feel welcome. There are different staff sometimes but we soon get to know them. We expect our Mum to be cared for and looked after to a high standard and we feel that this is what she receives. Unfortunately, looking after people with dementia is not a 'one size fits all' situation, and there are high demands from some residents more than others, but overall, we feel that the staff are caring and do tailor to their needs quite well. We know most of the other residents, too, and they all look well-cared for. A great deal of effort goes into activities, and celebrations of birthdays and significant days in the calendar, too, which is lovely.

Church Farm at Skylarks

from M C (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 June 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
The standard of care at Skylarks is questionable on several levels. There have been 2 outbreaks of scabies, the 1st in Nov/Dec 24. There was a complete failure to understand the condition, affects and how to treat it. The time taken to eliminate scabies was protracted because full details about the
treatment were not known. Consequently, I was unable to have my mother home for Christmas or for her to spend time with her grand, and great grand children. Unsurprisingly, and most disappointingly there has been a second outbreak of scabies 4.5 months later.
Staff do not engage with residents as a result they lose the power of communication. The residents spend most of the day in the same chair falling in and out of sleep until the next meal. Belongings continuously go missing and very little is done to recover them.
Contrary to what Skylarks promote the leading edge "Dementia Care Matters Household" model is not followed. It is not the place to spend your final days.
