Wren Hall Nursing Home

It can be very difficult when a family member goes into a care home. However, our experience is that Wren Hall has been the perfect and best choice for dad and for all the family. It feels like we've got dad back again.

The care and attention to detail is outstanding, and this was evident when mum attended the daycare setting prior to moving into Wren Hall. Mum's interests and wishes are always taken into account and it gives me peace of mind knowing that all her needs are being met.

I just came from overseas to visit my 89-year-old mum who has been in the home for a couple of months now. I am very impressed with the home. Particularly with the meal Time. There is a staff member sitting at each table with four residents, it's set up like a table at home with serving dishes so they can choose their food the amount they want etc. the food looks delicious, and the staff can assist if anybody is having issues eating. When I have turned up to visit her I see the staff interacting with the residents, talking to them or having a game of dominoes. Residents are not just left staring at each other, or a TV. The staff seem very approachable and caring. It's the staff that make a nursing home, but the building and the surrounds are beautiful and relaxing. Happy that she has moved into a safe and caring environment.

snacks and treats are offered at regular intervals . My friend isn't mixing well but does join in activities if encouraged, from what I've witnessed no one is left out. In fine weather residents can access the amazing gardens, sometimes there is entertainment outdoors, being there on a regular basis I have enjoyed many musicians entertaining the residents, there are also animals brought in, giving residents the chance to hold creatures such as snakes!! I believe Wren Hall has given him some life back...

The facilities at Wren Hall are excellent, but the gardens deserve a special mention. They are beautifully maintained, peaceful, and one of my mum's favourite places to relax. She also enjoys taking part in visits outside the home whenever possible. Which enhances her quality of life.

Dad was welcomed in to Wren Hall which felt like a home from home. As visitors we are always warmly received and greeted with smiles. Everyone is so approachable.The staff care for dad with dignity and respect despite his complex health needs. With the amazing training the staff understand dementia and as such provide care and support to amazing standards. I am also impressed with the cleanliness of the home which I'm sure can be a difficult job with all the spills and accidents. Communication with family members with regular relatives meetings is also helpful.

My Mother was a participant of the a Day Care Centre for nearly 18 months, during this time I was impressed with the total care package provided by the organisation. When my mother deteriorated to the point of requiring additional support, Wren Hall was the logical next step, this has proved to be an excellent choice as she settled into life at Wren Hall quicker than anticipated. This is down to the dedication of all the staff and the attention to detail to my mother's needs.

My mum has been cared for at Wren Hall since October 2024 when she had to move from her previous care home. The care she receives is quite exceptional. The training the care teams are given means they understand the true nature of Alzheimer's and therefore cope with my mum's challenging behaviours with love and respect. I always receive a warm welcome from the staff when I visit as well. I can't praise Wren Hall enough.

Our Dad was cared for so wonderfully by the staff at Wren Hall for 7 and a half years. He was treated with respect and love the whole time, and when he was end of life, the care of not just Dad but also us as a family was amazing.

My general opinion and experience of Wren Hall is outstanding for the care, support and attention given to both me and my husband. Nothing is too much trouble, and their staff and management go the extra mile to make sure our respite journey is smooth and stress-free. Knowing my husband is cared for and supported so well by Wren Hall staff gives me the confidence to enjoy and relax during his respite. Therefore, all benefit from the help of Wren Hall.

Lovely setting, nice garden, friendly, relaxed family home. Atmosphere is really nice, staff kind approachable, helpful and caring. I am so glad my mum is being cared for here she has a wonderful room for her many needs which are met as much as they possibly can be. We are so thankful mum is living at Wren Hall now she can't live at home, giving us peace of mind.

She loves the company of young children and thoroughly enjoys seeing as well as spending time with them. She has always been very sociable and loves chatting. More opportunities to do so with residents or day care attendees would be greatly appreciated. This has been discussed with staff in the past, but not yet put in place.

When faced with a difficult decision of how my mum's end of life care should be managed, a visit to Wren Hall and home visits by a senior member of staff reassured me that this was the right place for Mum's final weeks. From the cleaners to the maintenance team, from the cooks to the office staff, from the carers to the incredibly skilled nurses, everyone we met over her 4 weeks was kind, caring and went the extra mile. When Mum entered her final day I wouldn't have changed a thing and Mum's passing was as beautiful as it could have been. The presence of the relative's room was completely invaluable. Thank you.

Wren Hall is friendly and welcoming. In Woodnook Lounge the staff work as a team, interacting well and setting the home for the lounge. When not involved in a specific task they will spend quality time sitting with a resident. Activities are provided and the residents are given the independence and freedom commensurate with their needs. Personal care is discreet. Nursing and day-to-day care are of the highest standard. A visit is always a pleasure.

The family members and residents are cared for with much dignity and friendliness but in a very professional manner. The residence is kept very clean and tidy by excellent cleaners. The catering is perhaps a little inconsistent but the food is wholesome and varied. At about 3-month intervals family members or friends are invited to have excellent special meals with their loved ones. There are lovely extensive gardens where family members can be taken around and can observe the trees and flowers. This home has a reputation of being the best for many miles around. No wonder it recently had a waiting list of 88!

Wren Hall is a home-from-home. I feel my husband is cared for, treated with respect and attended to when necessary. Food is varied and the carers are among the best.
