My uncle and aunt have lived at the home now for the past 12 months. During this time they have been very happy and well-cared for. They have enjoyed outings and events of which relatives were always encouraged to join in.

Unfortunately, on the 20th of January, my aunt passed away. The support, care, help and kindness shown by the staff was very comforting and nothing was too much trouble. They felt like a part of our family. My uncle was cared for with love and compassion.

We would like to thank each member of the team for their exceptional care.

Dad was only in the care home for 5 days but the care he received was excellent. Also, all members of staff treated his family with care and respect at the time of his passing.

I would like to thank every member of staff at Gateford Hill for their loving care they gave to mum during her 2 and a half year stay with them. From the moment she arrived, to the last hours of her life they were all so wonderful to her, myself and my daughters.

I will never forget their kindness and it means so much to me to know how much love, care and attention they all gave to mum.

My husband, now deceased, went for palliative care. He resided a very poorly man for one week before death. The peace and quiet of the grounds are within the home. Quiet, calm and caring describe the wonderful staff who nursed my husband to the end. Residents were smiling knowing that they were in a safe environment. I was made most welcome and shown so much compassion at such a sad time.

The staff and level of care at this establishment are excellent, there is nothing that is too much trouble including requests for special meals. My dad has motor neurone disease and was anxious about entering and residing at a care home, the staff and surroundings here have won him over its amazing.
This care home has become home from home for all the family and our friends and we have made more friends while staying here. My dad has no worries which is just what he needed, he has the freedom to explore the surroundings there are many activities going on all the time, to join in or just as stimulating to watch.

More staff would be desirable I think this is generic throughout the caring services, however even though dad is really poorly now I always feel he is safe and in good caring, friendly hands, mum and I just couldn't cope on our own Gateford Hill and its wonderful staff day and night are helping us cope Thank you xx

Excellent, professional, caring staff. When I moved my aunt into Gateford Hill I looked on the CQC site and saw that it had a very good audit report. The care my aunt received was excellent, and I was reassured that she was in a safe home.
I was made welcome by all the staff and I could see my aunt improve because she was being cared for. I never had any concerns or worries about anything.

The carers rang me when necessary to report any changes and took control when the situation arised and informed other services to ensure her care was catered to physically and financially.

I was quite concerned about coming into a care home due to past experiences with a family member but all these concerns were soon gone when staying at Gateford Hill. The staff were extremely supportive and friendly. I felt secure and safe and would have no hesitation in either returning myself or recommending to others. Thank you Gateford Hill for all your help in my return to good health it has been a pleasure getting to know you.

Overall Experience

Mum had multiple disabilities which combined presented a challenge which the staff rose up and met far beyond my expectations. I am more than impressed with the home and it's surroundings, the staff and the care they provide, the food and the facilities. Mum was always treated with respect and dignity whilst she was alive, it always made me smile that staff knocked on her door before entering even though she was deaf!

It was wonderful to walk in each day and be met with cheery smiles by everyone, no matter what their job. The kindness and compassion shown to me when mum died was second to none.

I am so impressed that I have offered to volunteer at the home one day a week to help with the varied activities that are laid on for the residents and have already recommended the home to a friend who needed quality respite care for his wife.

I cannot praise this home highly enough.

My aunt is very well looked after. The staff are caring and attentive to her needs. She is always clean and well presented, her clothing is always clean. The meals are appetising and she is given a portion size she can eat. If there is nothing on the menu that she likes she is offered a "free choice" of meal and also the smoothies are a welcome change if she is not hungry. Visitors are welcome at any time and are made to feel welcome by staff.

My dad was given a place here for end of life care, but since coming to Gateord Hill his quality of life and health has improved so much. Prior to this my Dad has been very ill for 15 years and for past 5 years was housebound. But with brittle health he was always in and out of hospital. He was at his lowest point when we came to Gateford Hill. After being in hospital for 10 weeks he said he thought he had 'lost everything' but it is amazing how well he is doing now, helped enormously by such positive caring staff and wonderful surroundings. My dad has progressed and is doing things he thought he could never do again - such as having a shower, sitting out on a chair, eating a near normal diet. He has a bit of his old self back and he is never far away from things to do/activities. As visitors our family are always welcomed and we are welcome any time. I cannot praise this place enough. Well done Gateford Hill - a great place!

Excellent care home that provides lots of activities and cares about each and individual. The only thing that my mother complains about is the quality of the food, they can request any item of food but it is often cooked poorly. Listening to other people who's parents are in care, food and the quality of it seems to be a common thread at various care homes.

My aunt suffers from dementia and needs nursing care. She is very happy in the home and likes the staff; even though she can be difficult at times with them. I have visited various such facilities and appreciate the high standard of cleanliness that they maintain. Their degree of professionalism and cheerful disposition in what at times can be difficult and long days. It may not be all things to all people but it is the best that I have seen. I would not be unhappy if I had to use them at a future date.
