The staff at Melbourne House were incredible. All fo the staff - carers, kitchen workers, cleaners and of course nurses and managers.
They were all extremely kind, caring and empathetic. Not only to my brother but also to me. The standard of care was amazing. I couldn't have asked for anything better
for my brother. The manager and all her staff were incredible.

My mother became a resident in November 2021. In the short time she was there the satff were amazing getting to know her likes and dislikes. They looked after our mother as though it was family that were looking after her. We can not thank the staff enough for the care they gave our mother. Even after
her passing the support they gave us we will never be forgotten. Even after our first visit we knew it was the right place for our mother. We feel very lucky to have our mother at this home. They showed compassion and dignity to her.

Both my father (97) and step-mother (85) became residents in May 2021. My step-mother went into hospital in June for an emergency operation but sadly was returned to Melbourne House for end of life care. The care that both she and my father received was superb. Staff attended to both of them with their
very different needs. My step-mother was treated with kindness and compassion and her death was peaceful as a result of the close attention she was paid. My father understandably needed emotional as well as physical support throughout the period of her passing and afterwards as the family prepared for the funeral. I am extremely grateful to all those who cared for them both and continue to support my father through his bereavement.

Mum arrived in March 2021 after being moved from another home in the area. I/we as a family feel very fortunate that our mum was accepted here. Mum settled in very well and became a well liked resident amongst the staff and other residents. The love and care shown to our mum was amazing which gave us
peace of mind when you hear so many stories about standards and complaints about so many homes. We can't thank Melbourne House enough for all they have done.
Reply from Alicja Szefler, Care Home Manager at Melbourne House Nursing HomeThank you for showing your appreciation by completing a review for Melbourne House. It means a lot to the staff that your mum settled well with us, (and receiving a commendation) we do really care and have worked especially hard throughout the pandemic, to maintain hygiene standards and be both family and friend to our residents as well.

My husband is currently a resident here, and he seems so settled. At a previous home where he had some respite, he wanted to leave, wouldn't eat and seemed unsettled, but at Melbourne House he's so much happier, eating, shaving, and the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
It really
makes a difference to know your family member is being looked after so well and attentively it puts your mind at ease.
Thank you Melbourne House.
Reply from Alicja Szefler, Care Home Manager at Melbourne House Nursing HomeIt's lovely to hear that your husband is settled with us at Melbourne House, thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is especially important for us to receive such comments following the difficult times we have all experienced. The staff have worked hard together to maintain our high standards of care and keep residents engaged and in contact with their relatives, it is good to be appreciated.

Pleasing and welcoming environment. Good sized bedroom; homely. The staff are very friendly and professional and go out of their way to help. Nursing staff were exemplary during lockdown when I had to move my dad in from hospital.

My father has been a resident at Melbourne House Nursing Home for the last two and a half years since being diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. During this time, the management and staff have catered for his every need in a most caring and compassionate manner.
They have contacted me promptly in times
of urgent need and have also been able to provide staff and transport to accompany him to hospital appointments.
I would highly recommend Melbourne House Nursing Home to anyone looking for nursing care.

My ex-husband was fast-tracked here as he was ending his struggle with advanced cancers. Myself and my daughters were so relieved that he did not have to endure his final days at his home with only day carers (albeit they were excellent) and more recent support from Nottinghamshire Hospice, also excellent.
We were all so worried about those times when we were having to leave him alone for short periods. He also expressed that he felt lonely, and never really let on how worried and scared he must have felt. From the moment the care homeowner arrived at his flat, we felt comforted and supported. She managed to accept him to her home the very same day. When we accompanied him there, we immediately saw the genuine care and compassion being provided, both to him and the other residents. The nursing care and support from all staff was superb, as well as support for my daughters and myself, which was hugely appreciated. Aftercare was also excellent when he died. Thank you all so very very much.

My stepfather was admitted to this nursing home for end of life care. Sadly, he arrived on a Wednesday and passed away the following day. We were given a choice of rooms and contacted when he was transferred from hospital.
All staff members we met were very kind and sympathetic and we were able to
see him in the morning before he passed and again afterwards. When the staff contacted us to inform of his death, even though he was only really there overnight, staff all knew his name and treated him with dignity.

I honestly cannot fault the care and support my father received during his stay at this care home. The staff both management and nursing, could not do enough to ensure my father was comfortable and very well cared for, especially when he needed individual care the most.
I would highly recommend Melbourne

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.321)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.321) out of 10 for Melbourne House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.546 for Melbourne House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (103 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.546
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Melbourne House Nursing Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
