Laurel Court provides residential, dementia, nursing, palliative and short-stay care for up to 91 residents in a well-connected home in Didsbury, South Manchester.

Sadly, Dad passed away in January 2023 following a short illness. He spent 8 months at Laurel Court and we only wish we had found this place sooner, as he had a really bad experience at a care home in belonging to one of the larger providers, but the positive is he spent the last 8 months of his life
being well cared for and happy.
Laurel Court is a wonderful caring environment, where the staff work tirelessly to make the residents comfortable and cared for. The management of the home is exemplary, where nothing is too much trouble, with any concerns dealt with immediately.
Residents are treated as human beings, and the care for each is tailored to their specific needs. The staff liaise with relatives and welcome them into the home (Covid permitting), and even let them join in the activities put on for the residents.
We cannot thank Laurel Court enough for the care and time they gave to Dad. We really miss visiting the manager and her team.

My mum has only been in Laurel Court Care Home for a few weeks but we are very impressed with the standard of care and facilities. It seems very well staffed with caring personnel. The food is also of a high quality.

After a three-month stay in hospital, mum was transferred to Laurel Court for long-term care. From the minute she arrived until her sad death only 12 days later she received nothing but the best care, from the kitchen staff, to the cleaners, to the Carers, Activities staff, Nurses, Chaplains, Admin
staff and Management. They not only looked after mum with care and compassion during her short stay but gave the same support to us as a family. We were treated with total respect and love throughout a very difficult and sad time and nurtured by them all. Mum passed away peacefully but despite our sadness and immense loss, we will forever remember Laurel Court for its part in her final days. We could not recommend the home highly enough. Not only are the staff wonderful, many having been there for decades, but the environment and homely touches are a lovely place for both residents and visitors to enjoy. We only wish mum could have spent a little more time there. Thank you all.

My mum has been in Laurel Court for a month after experiencing an awful time in another care home. My goodness, what a difference; the staff are caring and attentive, the food is good, always lots of choices, and the place is spotlessly clean. I visit the home every Wednesday and the staff have always been very kind and helpful. I would recommend this home it looks lovely inside as it's just been refurbished. All the staff are friendly and I enjoy my visit every week.

My mum has had another lovely stay she is well looked after and I feel at ease leaving her there while I go on holiday. Mum had a fall this time and cut her head. Mum got out of the chair and lost her balance. We have stayed at other places and never felt good but here I feel at ease. I don't know what

Unfortunately, my mother, aged 93, recently passed away after residing at Laurel Court for 4 years.
When Mum first arrived at Laurel Court, her health condition did make her behaviour challenging at times but everyone at Laurel Court supported Mum and the family through these times.
The care and
support Mum received over the years have been outstanding with very caring staff. Nothing has been too much trouble. The Chaplin has been a huge support to both me and Mum and especially following the death of Mum.
Currently, the building is undergoing a full refurb however all residents' needs are still being maintained.
The activities team put on a wide variety of activities for all residents and makes sure everyone is included in whatever is going on.
The front of house staff are very welcoming and the housekeeping team are always very friendly and ensures the home is kept at a high standard.
I would highly recommend Laurel Court to anyone looking for a care home or nursing home.

The staff at Laurel Court Care Home make it the excellent home that it is! They work so hard and are fantastic with my mum. She is treated with kindness and dignity. The receptionist and Covid tester on the ground floor are so very helpful and cheerful. The activities staff are brilliant and the activities
such as singing, music, arts and crafts are so enjoyed by my mum. The hairdressing and chiropody services are great. I really can't fault Laurel Court. My mum is safe and happy there. Thank you!

My wife who has Alzheimer's and multiple other health issues has been a resident for over two and a half years. The improvements in moral and atmosphere since the change of permanent manager are palpable. The previous incumbent was completely out of her depth in terms of crisis management and incidents
occurred which probably led to the spread of infection and subsequent deaths in the early stages of the lockdown. I have the advantage of being advised by my son who is a scientist and journalist with over twenty-five years of international experience. We put my wife into isolation well before any 'lockdown' was formalised and I had equipment that he supplied. My own experience in managing a large secondary school was an advantage I respectively suggest that crisis management should be included in any CV or training programme for senior management and that in any similar situation a member of the senior management remains on-site at weekends.


All the staff at Laurel Court have shown outstanding commitment through a very difficult period. I am particularly grateful to all the Nursing and Caring team for their kindness in looking after my wife. As her 'Essential Carer' they have welcomed me and integrated me into a real team effort. The result, despite contrary predictions, has been an almost incredible improvement in my wife's condition measured not least by her 10kg weight gain. The whole quality of life has got so much better and I can only say a big thank you to everyone.

Laurel Court Care Home is distinctively different to what you might expect of a ‘typical care home’. My mum has recently become a resident here and we are thrilled with every aspect of her care, both practical and pastoral. The quality of organisation in terms of communication from management staff
and carers is outstanding and all the detail of moving in, organising belongings and navigating finance has been facilitated so thoroughly and swiftly. There is a notable sense of cleanliness here, modern facilities and a nice smell! The emphasis on relationships, care of the whole family, warmth and respect for dignity is so clear and I would not hesitate in recommending Laurel Court as a wonderful family and a home in the truest sense.

My mother has lived at Laurel Court for two and a half years. She had previously lived in her own flat and became increasingly unable to manage. When she first went to live at Laurel Court she was confused and uncooperative, and with very poor mobility, needing two people to transfer her from a bed
to a chair. The care she received worked wonders, and within a few months of arriving her mental and physical state had improved such that she is now self-mobile (with a frame) and has moved from the dementia unit to residential care.


The staff are amazing with deep reserves of patience, humour and care. There are plenty of activities. During the lockdown, the staff worked doubly hard to ensure residents were entertained and stimulated. The two chaplains provide excellent spiritual support for everyone, whether or not they practice a religion. The standard of care is excellent. Rooms are spacious and en-suite. If I needed residential care myself I would be happy to live at Laurel Court

Our mother aged 97 is very settled and as happy as her mental state allows. She is very clearly loved by the staff and she is never ignored or side-lined. I will be forever thankful that I was able to transfer my mum from the distressing experience we had at a care home to the wonderful care she received at Laurel Court. Mum was admitted on 'end of life' care and passed away after a few weeks. I cannot praise the management, the nursing staff, and carers
enough! The care mum received was exemplary and they all contributed in making the time mum had left mover bearable. You will always be fondly remembered.

My mum moved into Laurel Court in August from a different care provider. Prior to moving in, she had almost given up: stopped engaging or getting out of bed, stopped reading. Laurel Court’s wonderful staff have brought her back to life. She is now up and dressed every day, she has three books on the
go and is joking with the fantastic team who care for her. Her room is lovely, both spacious and homely, and the people who care for her go above and beyond every single day to make sure that she is settled and happy. The difference in her is extraordinary: I feel like Laurel Court has brought her back to life.


Laurel Court also cared for my dad when he moved in in August. Unfortunately, he became very sick and was put on an end of life pathway by the hospital. Laurel Court cared for him as though he had been a long-time resident and could not have been kinder or more supportive. They really cared for him, my mum and the wider family, both before and after he died. We are so grateful.

My parents recently moved to Laurel Court. The welcome they received was warm, kind, and compassionate. The staff went to great lengths to settle them and to get to know them as individuals whilst providing them with exemplary care. They were equally caring towards the wider family. After a short stay
at Laurel Court, my father’s health declined and he passed away. Despite only knowing my dad for a short time the staff cared for him to a high standard and made a difficult time for our family so much more bearable with their attention to detail, thoughtfulness and professionalism. Since my dad’s death, they have supported my mother with great kindness and empathy. Again their support for my siblings and me was excellent. I highly recommend this care home and its lovely staff. Thank you to them for all they have done and continue to do to support my family. This has been a hard 18 months for care staff and the resilience they have shown and the care standards they have been able to maintain are amazing.

Kelly Champkin

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Kelly Champkin is the dedicated Home Manager at MHA Laurel Court and has been leading the home since May 2021. With a career in care that began in 2008, Kelly started as a community carer before progressing to care co-ordinator, then moving into residential settings as a Deputy Manager in 2013. Shortly afterwards, she stepped into her first Home Manager role.


Over the years, Kelly has gained extensive experience across a range of services, including residential, dementia, and nursing care. She holds NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care, along with a Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership.


Kelly is passionate about creating a home where residents feel happy, comfortable, and valued. She is equally proud to work alongside a fantastic team who share her commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
