Acceptable level of cleanliness of property, all the residents I have spoken to say they are unhappy here. Although they all say the food is nice.
I have seen new residents going from happy and friendly to low and tearful. The images are misleading, there is no flowers and smiley faces and there is
no minibus. There was a 2 day out of date menu last time I was there and a ‘timetable’ of ‘activities’. The main activities I have seen on a regular basis is an unqualified activity person handing out colouring sheets and jigsaws. The website is false advertising.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Chorlton Place Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. I am sorry to hear about your recent experience during your visit at Chorlton Place. We strive to create an environment where residents can relax, and visitors can enjoy their visit with their loved ones. We have a range of activities planned daily for the people who live at the home. Residents are encouraged to take part and choose their own activity if they wish. Our wellbeing coordinator is highly motivated and is aware of residents’ needs. He has completed some life history work to ensure he understands a person’s preferences and wishes, and we offer one-to-one activity for the people who prefer not to join group activities. Activities are planned and the activity planner is displayed. At HC One we have a nutritionally balanced menu, and this is displayed daily. I am sorry you found an old menu displayed on the day of your visit, I have discussed this with the head chef and the team to ensure this does not happen again. We share a minibus with our sister home, and we are currently planning trips which will enable people who live at home to take part. We would be happy to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time to discuss your concerns raised and would always encourage people to approach the Home Manager to discuss any concerns in the first instance so that these can be resolved.

I have been and it all looks okay and the staff are nice. The area looks okay and gardens are well looked after. Everything is clean. I wish someone would answer the phone so I can speak to my mother but maybe they are busy.

My Granma now lives in this care home, Granma was taken in from hospital and looked after very well. The managers, and one in particular, have been a godsend. I have not seen my Granma for 35 years and I located her in hospital after a family member passing, this manager goes out of her way to help
me stay in contact with my Granma throughout Covid and also our 75 miles distance. Granma is happy and says the staff take good care of her and I am sure we would hear about it if anything were wrong. Thank you so much for all of your help in these awful times but make it easier for a family to stay connected, we even had a window visit one day which was lovely too. Amazing.

My mother was a resident in a nursing bed for a few years. Due to the lockdown, the family were not allowed in, only when my mam was dying, I was allowed in and my mam had three sons and two more daughters, also grandchildren, but they could not see my mam. The six months apart from my mam she had gone
downhill, lost weight and she was laid in such an uncomfortable position. Before the lockdown, she looked fine, lying straight in her bed, but when I was allowed in, she looked uncomfortable. I wasn't happy.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Chorlton Place Care HomeThank you for your review; we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. May I extend my earnest condolences on the passing of your Mother, and also my thanks for taking the time to write this review at what must be a very difficult time. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to facilitate visits to the home, as we were following Government guidelines. Sadly, there had been a marked change and deterioration in your Mother’s condition by the time you were able to see her, and this must have come as a shock to you. I would like to reassure you that you Mother received appropriate, kind care at all times and she was kept comfortable at the end of her life. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention; the wellbeing of our residents is of paramount importance to us at all times.

My father has been here for over 12 months now and the care has been up and down it depends which staff are on duty. The care home definitely is understaffed and residents are left waiting to been seen to. Also, Communication has been horrendous at times. However, a new care manager has joined the team
and in just two weeks has turned this place around. She has gone out of her way to ensure communication is key and has kept me up to date every few days with his condition and even sent a photo of my dad so I could send to the rest of the family. She also arranged a window visit after a long 8 months, which I was very grateful for and put my mind at rest that he was well and being looked after. The small things matter and I now have faith that he is well and someone has his best interest at heart. Thank you to the Manager. My scores are based on the new Manager joining the team.

My mother at present is a resident in the care home. The staff are exceptional and go out of their way to help and keep you up to date with what is happening and in my case the progress that my mother is making. Nothing is a problem for them and whatever you ask they will do, one example being a window
visit due to present conditions. They are a great team and have a warm caring nature.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.294)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.294) out of 10 for Chorlton Place Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.319 for Chorlton Place Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (157 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (13 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 248 Ratings = 4.319
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chorlton Place Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
