Dad has been at ShawSide over a year now and if I'm honest, it felt the right choice the moment we walked through the door. The standout quality of ShawSide is the staff and the kind, professional, compassionate and sympathetic care that they provide (sometimes incredibly caring!). The premises are
always spotless and feel safe and warm. We've also been really impressed by the ancillary care provided, both personal (hairdressing, pedicurists etc.) and the prompt provision of outside medical assistance when needed. Thank you so much ShawSide.

For the past three years, Mum has been cared for by the staff at Shawside. They have always made her feel she belongs, comfortable, safe and never a burden. The unit manager has made a huge difference and has given the unit the uplift it needed. In the last days of Mum's life, the staff were amazing,
treating her with care, dignity and respect. Their kindness, care and support to us as a family went a long way to help us face the inevitable. Well done and thank you.

Due to a fall earlier this year, my mother was unable to return home and entered ShawSide Care Village at the beginning of March. It was a difficult transition for her and for our family, as she was so independent even at 96 years of age! However, we could not be happier with the care provided. All
the staff at the home work very hard and have endless patience with the residents. They are very experienced in dealing with the different needs of all the residents, in a caring and understanding way. They also take time to chat to us and update us on my mum's progress whenever we visit. Although we haven't known the staff long, we know my mum is safe and is being looked after very well which is a great relief to us. We would have no hesitation in recommending ShawSide to anyone needing care.

My mum until very recently was a resident of Shaw Side, from going into the home Mum was made to feel very welcome. The management team at Beech House is amazing nothing is too much trouble and the staff are all exceptional they work so hard and are a pleasure to be around when visiting. Mum got all
the care and attention she needed all day every day. Would definitely recommend Beech House to any family considering care.

My auntie has been a resident now for many years now and I am really happy with the home and feel safe they have been absolutely brilliant with her I couldn't recommend a home enough there so caring and compassionate.

Mum was admitted to Beech House in December 2020. A very difficult time due to the Covid lockdown, but Mum and I were treated with compassion, and Mum's anxiety soon went, and she was happy and content. I can't fault the staff. The manager was always on top of any issues and contacted me, giving me
reassurance. They were caring beyond my expectations, and the person who did the crafts etc, was amazing. I still visit since Mum passed away because they feel like family.

My husband spent two weeks of respite in ShawSide - Beech House in October 2023. When his Alzheimer's became too much for me to handle, I had no worries about making ShawSide his home. When we arrived on the day he moved, he said, "Great, I'm back with my friends". The staff have been unbelievable with

Today stayed in my room till 3pm. Came out to watch TV in the lounge. I got the remote off the mantelpiece to see what channel was on, as I wanted to watch England rugby. Anyway, it was on the right channel.
So I wheelchaired myself to a chair, sat in it and put the remote on the table. Within 20
the senior care assistant came and took the remote into the office. When the programme ended I went and asked for the remote and she refused to give it to me. So all in the lounge had no choice but to watch the same channel all night. The woman is new to the Royton I think the first time she has been in charge on her own.

My dad spent around two months is Shawside House. As far as I could see, he was very well looked after by the staff. He constantly told us how nice company they all were.
I'd particularly like to compliment the charge nurse in Shawside House, who, whenever I enquired, greatly impressed me with their
detailed knowledge of his care.

My partner has been in ShawSide for 18 months, and there have been a number of issues which led to our daughter and I making an official complaint. I now deal with his washing, shaving and nail trimming and help feed him twice a day. Whilst the staff try their best there are insufficient staff to cope
with the tasks. Yesterday not only did I help feed my partner, but I also helped feed other residents. I also have to take my partner to the toilet on occasion. He is unable to speak/wheelchair bound.

Father was a resident on the Beech for the last three years until his death. He was happy with the standard of care he received, together with the quality and quantity of the food. Throughout his time there, I was genuinely impressed with the attitude and professionalism of the staff. They supported
him as his Alzheimer's got worse and were always positive. I visited on different days and at different times; it did not matter whenever I was there; he was clean, clean-shaven, wearing clean clothes and looked comfortable. My sister and I cannot praise the staff on the Beech highly enough.

The care my mum received was abysmal. The care assessment stated mum should not be able to walk without a member of staff. She had three falls in one week ending up in hospital with a fractured hip and needing surgery. No manager has contacted me to ask how mum is. They also told me that family met
with her GP and stopped her medication which is a lie. I contacted her GP and they had no record of this because her meds are for heart failure. I asked one of the managers on Shaw House to look at mums legs because they are very swollen. When I saw the manager a couple of days later she told me she had forgotten. They have few staff but at break times I never saw them sat with the residents. Instead, they are just sat at tables on their mobile phones. I would not put a dog in there but good luck should you choose to place your loved ones in there.

This review is related to the summer garden fete - remarkably, the afternoon was fine weather, this made the day, and the event was well attended. The whole of the fair was very well organised and had many and varied attractions. My wife enjoyed the day, and it was the first time I'd seen her smile
for a long time.

My mother has been at the home for four years. Mum had a massive stroke, and fortunately for the family, she survived. Mum would have been prepared to die and wishes she had. Unfortunately, the stroke left Mum unable to do many things that she was able to do, which frustrates her. Mum feels she is a
burden to the staff, and therefore, reluctant to ask for help when she should. The number of agency staff whose first language is not English frustrates her as they don't appear to understand her requests. Also, as she eats in her room, her food is, as she would say, "tepid" not very warm.

My mum is here due to end of life care. She is being treated with dignity and respect. She says she enjoys the food, staff and facilities. On my side, I do feel ShowSide are understaffed.
