I am pleased that my mum is cared for here. The staff are attentive and pleasant. They have monitored mums weight and improved her overall health. Her room is lovely. The manager is very caring and an excellent manager. My only comment is I would like more stimulation specific to dementia sensory, reminiscent, chair exercises to music.

Each day, when I visit my wife in Oldham House, I am full of admiration at the way all the carers take all the different problems of each day in their stride. They really do care. I have now shed the guilt of parting with my wife, because I know she is safe and being cared for.

Things have improved a lot since the home was sold to you. There is still room for improvement in some areas.

The staff here are always willing to help in any way they can, as are the management team. The home itself is comfortable, clean, a safe place where I feel I can trust my mother to be looked after with care and support.

Review from B S (Friend of Resident) published on 23 March 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Staff were very patient especially when a resident was angry and abusive - problems that come with dementia not there before. Staff allowed residents pattern of life to continue where safe and secure. i.e times of getting up and going to bed. All staff seemed to have very good rapport with all residents - no favourites. Food likes and dislikes catered for where possible.

My nan has been a resident almost 4 years in Beech House Shaw Side. In that time her care and treatment has been exemplary. The staff have treated her as a member of the family and despite her dementia she has been happier than in many other periods of her life.

This care home was ideal for my aunt, close to her home in Shaw. The home was warm, clean and the staff were very welcoming. The management seem on the ball and were soon dealing with my aunt's many issues. She was treated very sympathetically with a great degree of kindness. The staff had no problem dealing with her many complex health issues. I am really grateful that she was able to spend her final days in such a lovely place. Many thanks to all at Shaw Side Care Home.
