Over all time Broughton House has 49 reviews.
Sadly Dad became ill towards the end of the year and died early in 2026. Throughout this, the Broughton House team were amazing! Dad had specifically chosen to remain in his new home should his health deteriorate because he knew how well he would be cared for. It was obvious that he had huge trust in the team. I can't thank the team enough for seeing us all through such a tough time in such a caring way.
Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review. We were so privileged to be able to care for your lovely dad. What a pleasure it was to get to know him.
Mum first went to Broughton House following a fall at home and a visit to hospital. Mum was discharged to BH on the 29th March 2022 initially for assessment and unfortunately was diagnosed with mixed Alzheimer's and Dementia. Mum then became a full time self funding resident until she sadly passed away on 28th January 2026 at the age of 100. Throughout her stay the standard of care was second to none, her every need was met no matter how much time or care was needed. The overwhelming feeling was one of comfort knowing mum was being left in good hands, that meant that we did not need to worry when we were leaving her. The home was exceptionally clean as cleaning staff worked constantly throughout the day. There was no smell of urine as with many care homes and nobody was simply left to sit in chairs all day long. BH organised trips out in their own mini bus and many in house events throughout the year. The food was excellent with a varied selection and was always piping hot.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. Your mum was truly one in a million and we will never forget her or her incredible spirit. It was our absolute pleasure to care for her. We do hope we will see you back at a coffee morning or similar. Take good care. Jane.
My mother in law stayed at Broughton House for respite care she has told me and her grandchildren she has loved her stay. I found staff and management friendly proffessional who went above and beyond there caring duties. Facilities are fantastic services provided are of an excellent standard. Support is person centred to the person my mother in law has told me she made many friends and would love to stay again in the future. It has been a 5 star expirence
It was such a pleasure to look after your mum-in-law. We are delighted she enjoyed her stay and we do look forward to seeing her again in the new year.
Following an illness and stay in hospital my mum was sent to a D2A access bed in a private care home. I was traumatised by the process, accommodation and care, and knew I needed to get her moved as soon as possible.
I found Broughton House following a wide search of care homes, most of which were very similar to where she was. My mum was eligible because my father had served in the army.
From the minute I stepped into the place it felt completely different.
The manageress was helpful and sympathetic and following a visit I got her moved there as quickly as I could. The staff, who do an incredibly difficult job, are lovely, the rooms are clean and the food they serve is varied and tasty. They put on plenty to keep the residents occupied.
She has been there for nearly two years now and even though her health and memory continue to decline, she is thriving. It's given me peace of mind she is safe and well cared for.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this feedback, it is so appreciated. It really is our pleasure to care for your lovely mum.
6 months later when I made the horrid decision to look for a residential place full time there was no other options for me than Broughton house. No other place could meet my brothers needs and I have not been disappointed. With advanced dementia my brother struggles to articulate himself but I can tell he is settled. And it has been a lifeline for me knowing they look after him well and he's safe
They continue to review each stage and adapt his care package to support him and keep him as active as possible.
Everyone from the two members of staff on reception to the director are always friendly
Thank you so much for taking the time to let us have your feedback. Your brother is real hero to us and a privilege to care for. I will pass on your lovely comments to the whole team.
What a wondeful place and I can't recommend it enough. Dad has dementia and needs alot of care and support and has settled in so well thanks to all the nursing and care staff, he is treated with so much dignity. All the staff are amazing from the carers, nurses, kitchen staff, cleaners, admin team, managers, volunteers and the ladies on reception, everybody is so friendly and helpful. The building actually doesn't feel like the usual carehomes and has been designed so well. There is fabulous military museum in main reception area and we often bring dad down for a coffee or take him out in their lovely well kept garden. There is even a beautiful park not far away that we wheel dad to. Dad's room is lovely and spacious and everything is always so clean. He loves the food and attending events from singers, to Remembranace day occasions and parties on New Years Eve. I've always felt so welcome at Broughton House and the main thing is dad is happy there.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback. It's such a pleasure to be able to look after your dad and you are a very important part of the BH family. I will share the feedback with the teams, they will be thrilled to read it as they work so hard to make sure our veterans live happy and engaged lives with us.
Everything has been excellent. My mother has been well looked after. Any concerns have been dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. The variety of foods available is good and most of the time is suitable for my mum.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback, it means a great deal to i. I will pass this onto the team. It's a pleasure to be able to care for your mum.
My experience of Broughton House is that they have, quite literally, saved our family life. We could no longer cope with leaving Dad at home, it was destroying us all physically & mentally. We had been turned away from so many other care providers due to his complex needs and alcohol dependency. Dad has become much calmer and less angry and is much more pleasant to be around. Broughton House anticipate and are geared up for every eventuality they are simply brilliant, from director to the domestic and kitchen staff we cannot speak highly enough. Thank you BH.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this review, it is most appreciated. It is a privilege to be able to care for your dad.
Everybody who works at Broughton House are friendly caring and families feel like one big happy family. There are plenty of activities for the for the residents and families to join in. When you go home you know your relative is in safe hands and being looked after. I have every trust leaving my relative here the cleanliness and the meals are prepared by Chefs and the residents do have a choice of what's on the Menu Cannot fault BH for their dedication to all residents.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback and for your kind words. I will pass these on to the whole team, its such a delight to be able to look after your lovely husband.
I have been associated with Broughton House since the early 80s the care and support they offer is 1st class .
My mum is a resident and enjoys the care and friendship she is receiving from everyone
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us feedback its really important to us. What a privilege it is to be able to look after your mum, such a lovely lady.
Pleasant staff, exceptional care, outstanding accommodation and facilities. Good dietary care for residents. Care and consideration given especially to those experiencing early and late onset of dementia.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, it is extremely valuable for us. I am so pleased that everything has gone so well for your dad so far and our aim will be to make every category 5 stars next time.
Broughton House is a wonderful place for residents and the attention to care and getting to personally know each resident is outstanding. each part of the home, rooms, dinning area, reception and the garden is maintained to a very high standard. i would have no hesitation to recommend this home and we as a family feel so luckily to have our Dad as a resident
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback, it means so much to us. I will pass this on to the whole team. What a pleasure it is to care for your dad.
Quite simply the best care home I have ever come across. The care is excellent and the staff go the extra mile. They have great activities for the residents and make the effort to personalise the care. It is always clean and welcoming. In particular there is great understanding of the ex military mindset and ability to respond to the need for a routine. The food is good, the staff are caring and it has been home from home for my Dad and given me great peace of mind. The leadership is excellent.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback, it is extremely valuable and I will pass this on to the whole team, it is our absolute pleasure to be able to look after your dad.
My son was a resident of Broughton House for over 2 years (almost). On his death and also the care he received previously, was very good. It has it's hiccups but that was expected. The week beginning his death was a lovely experience with all the staff. They were brilliant. They all made it easier than it would have been. Thank you all very much.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I will pass your feedback on to the team. It was our pleasure to look after your wonderful son.
I have been a resident for six months and I have been extremely pleased with all aspects of the home. The staff are very kind, caring and competent. It's like a home from home.
Bob, thanks so much for taking the time to complete this review, we really appreciate it. It's such a privilege to be able to provide care and support for you. I will pass the lovely feedback on to the team.
My father moved to Broughton House in November 2023, having been discharged from hospital, having been poorly treated and cared for by the previous home he resided in. His move to Broughton house was such relief, as my father's dementia was worsening by the day, however the staff at Broughton House went above and beyond to accommodate and look after my father, for which I can not thank them enough. My Father sadly passed away in July of 2024 and again all the staff could not do anymore to make him as comfortable as they could, again for which I am extremely grateful. Again relating back to my father's first care home and Broughton house, there was no comparison, Broughton House are in a league of there own with regards to both facilities and care. Thank you
It was our pleasure to look after your Dad. He was a funny and entertaining gentleman who we all grew very fond of. What a privilege it was to be there for all of you as he went on his final journey. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback which I will share with the team.
The building is not like a typical/traditional care home. There is no cooking or any unpleasant smells, the whole place has a thoughtful, 'cared for' atmosphere. Staff are kind, efficient, respectful and professional.
Barbara, thanks so much for taking the time to write this review, we really appreciate it. I am absolutely delighted that your experience has been so positive. I will pass the lovely feedback on to the team.
My husband enjoyed his time at Broughton House. He loved the care the staff gave, the facilities and the food.
What lovely feedback - we absolutely loved having him and we will be delighted to welcome him back. I'll pass on your kind comments to the team about the care and the food, thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback - it means a lot to us all.
My mother broke the same wrist twice, in a 16-week period, due to neglect. Staff unable to confirm how she broke it. The first time, she was left for 3 weeks before going to A&E for an X-ray, where it was confirmed broken. Hostility from staff is unbearable, leaving my mother in tears on visits and family not wanting to visit, due to the atmosphere. The multitudinous falls, cuts and bruises my mother has encountered, have been devastating.
Thank you for your considered feedback. I am very sorry that we could not meet your expectations during your mother's 12month stay with us. I am however pleased that we were able to support her to transition from a high needs nursing dementia assessment to a residential level needs assessment. We do wish her well in her new home.
Not enough staff though. High turnover - different all the time.
