Broughton House provides compassionate nursing, residential, dementia and respite care to veterans and their families.

The home was designed solely for the purpose of providing an enriching, rewarding and safe environment where residents can thrive.

Offering a fulfilling and varied wellbeing programme, there is always something for residents to enjoy, whether it be in the spacious homely lounges, Veterans’ Mess/bar, beautiful garden or on a trip outside of the home.

There is a wide range of services and facilities for residents to ensure that they live life to the fullest while under the Broughton House team's care. These include: inhouse physiotherapy, chiropody, a purpose-built gym and a hair salon.

Each resident has their own modern, en-suite bedrooms.

The dedicated care team endeavours to provide a comfortable and stimulating environment. Residents receive support to embrace a life that rich and enjoyable for not only themselves but their families as well.

You are eligible for Broughton House if you have served in His Majesty's Armed Forces, the Merchant Navy, a Reserve Force or were conscripted for National Service. Alternatively, you are also eligible if you are a family member/spouse of any of the beforementioned.

We accept self-funders and local authority funded residents able to pay a top-up fee to meet our weekly fee. Where the top-up is payable, the local authority should pay us for the full cost of care, and collect the top-up from you directly.


We may be able to accept NHS continuing healthcare funding for people with severe or complex health needs, subject to agreeing our fees with the relevant NHS Clinical Commission Group. NHS teams will undertake regular assessments of your needs to determine whether you qualify for this type of funding.

Fantastic place. The staff were great. Nice and modern. After coming so far, to visit, it was a pleasure to see the home and staff, where my dad is now living. Couldn't be happier with the place. Thank you all. I will return to New Zealand, safe in the knowledge Dad is in good hands.

Staff here are absolutely lovely and do their up most for the residents. Extremely lucky for my dad to be in such a great home! Fantastically greeted as soon as we walk through the front door and from there on out, just fantastic service. Always hearing how lovely the food is as well.

My mum has been in Broughton House - Veteran Care Village for only a few weeks. However the improvement I have observed has been absolutely fantastic. I feel like I'm getting my mum back. I feel like this is due to her determination and all the help, support and stimulation from the staff, especially
a member of staff from the well being team. I would like to say a Big Thank You.

Broughton House is second to none. Staff are always willing and nothing is too much trouble if they can do it they will!!
My husband is ex-army and has been a resident in Broughton House since May 2021, the care he has received is outstanding. My husband has a rare dementia called Posterior Cortical
Atrophy (PCA), which along with dementia he has gone blind. (One of the symptoms of PCA) Staff have always gone out of their way to help him feel comfortable, valued, and safe, and have exceeded in looking after him. They care for all his personal needs and make sure that he is clean with clean clothes every day. If he doesn't like the meal prepared for him, they try and find out what he likes.I know that when I am not with him he is safe, comfortable and well looked after.
Staff keep me updated with his care and are always there to talk to. Their passion shines through.
I cannot thank the staff enough for their care, support, kindness and dedication.

Brilliant, brilliant care. I couldn’t have wished for better. My father was treated like a king. The care insured my father retained his dignity. All the staff are caring and professional. The new building and furnishings, are five star.

All staff went above and beyond during my father's last few months, not only with him but the care of myself, brother and family. My beloved Dad, was well cared for during his short time at Broughton House. It made a very difficult time in all our lives, more bearable. Thank you.

As Dad’s dementia and frailty increased, we as a family became more concerned about his safety and vulnerability, living alone. In the two years since Dad became a resident at Broughton House, we feel his medical, nutritional and social needs are being met.
We particularly appreciate, alongside the
care given to Dad, the opportunities made by Staff to brighten each day for all residents, the activities organised the celebrations and marking the special dates.
As a family, we feel that this has all contributed to giving us greater peace of mind. We know that Dad is valued, is cared for, is safe and is happy. We look forward, when the lifting of restrictions permits, to be able to visit Dad in his room and reminisce with him in a more familiar environment. We have missed, during the restrictions, the opportunity to discuss at first hand, Dad's current Care plans and how we can be further involved in our role as Power of Attorney.

I first found out about Broughton House - Veteran Care Village early in 2021, from a friend in Australia and since then my wife, a veteran army nurse (QARANC), who unfortunately now has advanced Alzheimer’s Disease, has been a resident there since the end of April 2021.
In the five months that my wife
has been a resident, she has settled very well, I visit her 2/3 times every week and at every visit, she is clean, well dressed, and her hair is always brushed the way she likes it.
The Staff, from the CEO and Care Manager down (some of which are veterans themselves), are approachable at any time by visitors and they will always interact with residents at every opportunity. Plus, the atmosphere and cleanliness of Broughton House, which is a very modern, purpose built Care Home, is excellent.
As a veteran myself, and husband/Carer for my wife, I know that she is safe, loved and well cared for at Broughton House - Veteran Care Village.
