From the first day Mum and Dad arrived at Newlands Care Home all the staff made them feel very much at home. The care and support everyone gave was heartwarming and genuine. Nothing was too much trouble. Even when they were rushed off their feet, they always made time to make my husband and myself a lovely cup of tea with a biscuit. Sadly, my dad passed after a few short weeks of being there, and all the staff gave Mum extra tlc and support, which really helped Mum. Mum joined in with the entertainment and music, and I have a lovely video of Mum dancing with a member of the staff. The care manager and Assistant Care Manager were very understanding and reassuring whenever I rang with any questions about Mum during the first few weeks after Dad passed.

Unfortunately Mum had to be transferred to another care home due to family circumstances, but if that hadn't been the case, Mum would definitely have stayed.

Since my uncle was admitted for initially respite but now is a permanent resident, he has received nothing but excellent care. The staff are pleasant, caring and informative. My uncle is always clean and presentable each time I visit, I have never seen him looking so clean, and his mood has lifted since being at Newlands. The care home is full of love, and the communal area is always busy with residents socialising. My family and I are really happy with the service and care our uncle receives.

My sister resides at Newlands and I am happy she is safe here. staff are approachable and nothing seems to ever be a trouble for them. I can go home at night and I am happy and able to sleep knowing that she is cared for and loved. I would certainly recommend this home and have already done so.

I can't fault Newlands for the care of my sister. All the staff are friendly and caring and helpful towards my sister. All her needs are being met, the room is kept lovely and clean, the meals are well cooked and a brilliant choice of menu. There are plenty of activities on offer if anyone wishes to join in. Everybody is very friendly and it gives us peace of mind my sister is being well looked after.

Coming from Australia and seeing the home for the first time, I was unsure what I was going to see, I have to admit I was in for a big surprise, the home is extremely well run and the staff are very caring, the food was very nice and I had lunch there also. All in all, I'm very happy with Mum's care and I can go back to the land of Oz knowing Mum will be well cared for. There are many activities for the residents and everyone is happy. Kind regards.

My brother was taken to Newlands from hospital after suffering from various problems including Covid. The care and attention he received brought him back to life. He was treated by all members of staff with loving care and he improved due to this to the point where we were able to take him home.

He was very happy in Newlands and never once complained. The consideration was shown to all members of the family and I would highly recommend Newlands.

My family has been associated with Newlands for over 10 years. Initially they looked after my mother, and now my sister lives there.
In one word - superb! The staff, from the cleaners through to the carers, nurses, kitchen staff and management are all gentle and caring, and that is after all the most important thing when your loved one is in their hands.
Some of the categories below have not received the 'excellent' mark, purely because this is a very small home, and does not have the physical facilities of larger establishments. But in terms of looking after the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of my loved one, I couldn't think of a better facility in this area.

The current management are continually striving to improve and innovate, and the end results are happy and contented residents, as well as we, the families, are assured that our loved ones are receiving the best possible care in a clean and safe environment.

The very dear Mum of my twin brother and I lived at Newlands for the last 5-years of her life. She was looked after with utterly dedicated care by all the members of staff, who I would only describe as 'salt of the earth'. When visiting Mum, it was always impossible to not notice how emotionally demanding the work of a carer is, and yet everyone working at Newlands treated our mother as if she were the most precious heart and soul of their very own family. I can only give my utmost love and thanks to all of you who lifted the spirit of dear Mum in the jewelled twilight years of her life. Bless you, all.

I Started work at Newlands in 2003, I had never worked in the Care sector before, so I started with a position on the catering side and worked up to head of the catering department. Due to a shoulder injury, I left that position after many years and came onto the clerical side working alongside the home manager in the day-to-day running of the home. It was the best career change 19 years ago I could have made as I have a great passion and respect for the elderly. I have gained a whole wealth of knowledge in the care sector since I started in 2003. I love being able to interact with both residents and families.
