Many grateful thanks to all the lovely staff at Bowerfield for looking after my sister-in-law and brother-in-law with kindness and compassion for three months. My brother-in-law sadly died (terminally ill on admission); they ensured his death was dignified, peaceful and pain-free, and looked after us
as a family. They continued to support my sister-in-law for the ensuing months until her move closer to more family, with understanding, care and great attention to detail, with an accurate awareness of her needs and providing lots of the kinds of help which benefitted her. We were always greeted by everyone with smiles and cheerfulness, and my sister-in-law was both supported in her grieving, and given lots of the social interaction which she found so reassuring and helpful. We found Bowerfield a bright, clean and warm environment, and my sister-in-law especially liked the dining-room with its garden view and tables always set with pretty cloths and flowers, and the café area upstairs.
Reply from Helen Wareing, Home Manager at Bowerfield CourtThank you for sharing such heartfelt feedback. All the staff are caring, helpfull and very approachable. The rooms are always clean & tidy thanks to domestic staff and laundry is always ironed and put away. The food is amazing thanks to kitchen staff and thanks to hostesses for making our drinks and offering snaks throughout the day.
Activities
are amazing always something for someone and trips out. Onsight maintenance gentleman always helps with repairs or other issues on same day.
Overall i highly reccomend Bowerfield Court.

I do like it here. The staff are friendly, cheerful & helpful. The food is excellent & cooked with care. The facilities are 1st class. It is comfortable, clean & warm (bit warm for me).
You only have to ask & it appears.
Being constructive, some assistance to leg exercises would be nice.
Otherwise,
very good indeed.
Reply from Helen Wareing, Home Manager at Bowerfield CourtWe really appreciate your kind words about the team, food, and facilities. Thank you also for the suggestion on leg-exercise support. We are always looking for ways we can improve.

Booked in for Christmas meal with my sister, really good experience, all staff were as always, pleasant and attended well to our needs. A real effort was made on creating a pleasant and festive environment.
Food was really good, tasty; my sister's vegetarian option was well received too.
Special
thanks to Sarah (great meal), Genesi who orchestrated the event, Joanne who stepped in to help when needed, all to give the resident and their relatives a special time together.
Massive thank you to you all! Xx

The care home staff were friendly and the environment was clean and welcoming.
The staff were kind enough to allow my aunt to host a small family gathering in a quiet room, where an afternoon tea was provided for us. They were attentive towards my aunts needs, but in a subtle manner. They organised
for her to be chaperoned to a church 20minutes away and supported my aunt both physically and emotionally throughout the outing.
Our experience of Bowers Court was positive and I feel my aunt is receiving quality care.

When admitted with 3 days life expectancy reception very good. Since 7 months ago from admittance standards have gone through the floor.
Despite repeated requests general care is poor all the time as staff and management have to be badgered to do their basic duties ie showered shaving and nail cutting
etc. Relatives police care which is disgusting.

My sister was booked in for 2 weeks respite as I am her carer and fractured my foot. On first impression the carpet was filthy with marks all over it. My sister was put to bed at 5pm one evening and told there were no staff to do it later. I visited her at 11am the following day to find her in bed wet
through with urine. We had to sort her out, wash & dress her and strip the bed and wash it down. Another day a member of staff when washing her said 'open your legs so I can wash your .....'. We made the decision to remove her after one week. No one questioned it.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.330)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.330) out of 10 for Bowerfield Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.380 for Bowerfield Court is calculated as follows: ( (152 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (13 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.38
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowerfield Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
