Management continue to provide outstanding support in our discussions with Continuing Health Care and Social Services to ensure we get the most appropriate and effective care for our mother. They are making a complex and difficult process understandable for our family and we are grateful for the wider care being provided by all the staff at all levels at Bowerfield Court.
My daughter was cared for very well by all the care team during her stay. Dignity in care was respected.
My daughter also tells me the food was delicious. Rooms were clean and tidy.
One night I had a worrisome incident, so the nurse rang my GP and arranged for me to see him in the home the next day. This was excellent care and reassuring for me. There is a pleasant, relaxed air about the home, which feels more like a small residential home or hotel, but with the addition and added benefit of nursing care on site.
When my wife first came to the home she was greeted by a very caring staff. All the carers have treated my wife as part of the family which puts my mind at rest. When I leave her in their care day and night. Also, all nursing staff are caring and also treat her as part of the family, and all the staff talk to her when they are carrying out their duties.
After a slightly rocky start, (my mother was not at all sure she wanted to be in a home), Mum has now settled down and made friends among both the other residents and the staff. Her health is also much better, as she is checked by a nurse every day and the doctors visit weekly. She says the staff are 'lovely' and they are always cheerful and helpful. They encourage her to do as much as possible herself and wait patiently as long as necessary while she does so. Her room is comfortable and they encourage us to personalize it with her own curtains and pictures and bits of furniture.
Fantastic surroundings.
Friendly staff.
From the first minute she arrived to the time of us going and clearing her things, it was absolutely amazing.
The place is beautiful, clean, modern and my mum's room had everything in it. It was decorated to the highest standard.
The staff, each and every one of them, were unbelievable, so much care and kindness to Mum and to me. They made a terribly upsetting time much easier. Highly recommended.
I find Bowerfield Court very satisfactory. The staff are very kind and attentive, always willing to lend a helpful hand. They have the residents' needs in hand. They always make sure and try to keep things running smoothly. Staff and management are very friendly, creating a good atmosphere.
A very well run and caring service. The food provided could be of a higher quality with a more varied menu.
Activities in the home have improved since I have moved here. Food is good and tea trolley is regular. Established a good rapport with the majority of staff and the number of agency staff has reduced - this is important for me as it affected my care.
I would come back for respite when I move home.
I have found the staff at Bowerfield to be responsive and respectful of my brother's needs, both physically and mentally. There is always a pleasant atmosphere and it feels like a home from home. The management communicate well with the residents and family.
I have found out over this last eight years what devotion and commitment the team at Bowerfield have. I feel my wife's needs, be it medical, social or physical, they have been met and dealt with by this dedicated team - our extended family.
My daughter has been at the home for over six years. She is 32 years of age and has locked-in-syndrome. The staff and nurses under the leadership of the deputy manager and head nurse have been brilliant. Our main concern is on the weekends when staff are thin on the ground and have to rely on inexperienced bank staff.
When my Father-in-law was admitted to Bowerfield Court, he was recovering from the aftermath of pneumonia. He was very frail and had lost a serious amount of weight so a period of convalescence was essential. I was immediately very impressed with the level of care the staff at Bowerfield Court afforded my Father-in-law. He gained weight very quickly and has continued to thrive. He is very confused as he is in the advanced stages of dementia, however, he seems very happy and settled as he is treated with the utmost respect and care. I have found all the staff to be compassionate, caring and professional.
On return home I and her carers found my wife to be dehydrated and it would appear that she has not been encouraged/helped to drink, despite advice on this matter having been given.
On Sunday the 13th of March I visited her at 4.45pm, and 3 of her medication tablets - which showed to be taken in AM, were on her bedside table. I consider this unsatisfactory. Nursing care sparse.
