I have found the staff at Bowerfield to be responsive and respectful of my brother's needs, both physically and mentally. There is always a pleasant atmosphere and it feels like a home from home. The management communicate well with the residents and family.

My wife has been a resident at Bowerfield for the past eight years. So you may as well say a huge part of hers, mine and our 3 children's lives. All I have got for, all grades of staff at Bowerfield is pure respect at the way my wife has been looked after by these dedicated people.
I have found out
over this last eight years what devotion and commitment the team at Bowerfield have. I feel my wife's needs, be it medical, social or physical, they have been met and dealt with by this dedicated team - our extended family.

My daughter has been at the home for over six years. She is 32 years of age and has locked-in-syndrome. The staff and nurses under the leadership of the deputy manager and head nurse have been brilliant. Our main concern is on the weekends when staff are thin on the ground and have to rely on inexperienced
bank staff.

When my Father-in-law was admitted to Bowerfield Court, he was recovering from the aftermath of pneumonia. He was very frail and had lost a serious amount of weight so a period of convalescence was essential. I was immediately very impressed with the level of care the staff at Bowerfield Court afforded
my Father-in-law. He gained weight very quickly and has continued to thrive. He is very confused as he is in the advanced stages of dementia, however, he seems very happy and settled as he is treated with the utmost respect and care. I have found all the staff to be compassionate, caring and professional.

My wife, was accepted for respite care to Bowerfield Court, High Lane, Stockport, Cheshire on 10/3/16 and returned home on the 14/3/16, following an assessment at the home a few days previously. At this visit the manager took details of her medical condition, and medication.
On return home I and her
carers found my wife to be dehydrated and it would appear that she has not been encouraged/helped to drink, despite advice on this matter having been given.
On Sunday the 13th of March I visited her at 4.45pm, and 3 of her medication tablets - which showed to be taken in AM, were on her bedside table. I consider this unsatisfactory. Nursing care sparse.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.732)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.732) out of 10 for Bowerfield Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.932 for Bowerfield Court is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (13 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 3.932
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowerfield Court is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
