From the very first time I came to Westleigh Lodge Care Home and met some of the staff I was convinced that this was the place for my wife and I. We were not disappointed. The staff are absolutely brilliant nothing is too much trouble. They are always happy and smiling and encourage the residents to
be positive and assist them when needed. My wife who is blind also with dementia and fatigue is improving in leaps and bounds and she is now smiling again. Thank you.

Fantastic staff who go above and beyond to care for the residents. Could not ask for more. The staff are a credit to Westleigh Lodge. Would just like to thank them all. Cannot be many care homes better than this, long may it continue.

The care Mum has received has been exceptional. All staff and carers have treated Mum with genuine care and affection and with dignity. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with daily activities. As Mum started to decline in health the level of care has been amazing, ensuring she is comfortable and
well looked after with her needs met over and above. It is a great comfort to the family to know she is being cared for by such committed and caring staff.

Mum moved to Westleigh Lodge from another home where she was nursed in bed and had given up. Since moving to her new home she has improved so much, she is out of bed in communal areas, joining in with activities and walking again on a zimmer frame. The staff from management down have all been brilliant,
nothing is too much trouble, Mum is shown dignity and so much patience. She's even been out in the community which she's not done since before Covid. Can't thank the staff enough for all the excellent care they provide.

My mum has been in Westleigh Lodge since March 2022. I cannot express the level of care and affection my Mum receives. It was never easy to let go as you always think you can cope. My Dad, brother and myself are so fortunate to have got Mum in Westleigh Lodge. We turn up any time of the day unannounced
and never need to make an appointment, nothing is too much trouble. I have two words - Thank You!

Westleigh Lodge is a fantastic care home. My mum has been a resident for over six years and throughout this time I couldn't have wished for better care, support and love, every member of staff has shown to all the residents and family members. The staff really do everything they can to provide a happy
home-from-home environment. I can't thank them enough for providing Mum with the care that I can't give her. Every member of staff is an absolute angel.

My dad was on a discharge to assess bed at Westleigh Lodge, I just want to thank you all for the wonderful care and support you gave my dad whilst he was with you for those few weeks in May and June. It was a huge comfort to me to know that, as I lived such a long way from them he was being so well
cared for in your home. Thank you again, with best wishes.

The last two years have been very hard for all the staff, but they have really been fantastic. They are always very polite and friendly and happy to help visitors. Through the pandemic, they were very good with the visiting in the pod and in their rooms. My mother really loves them as she gets really
good care. I'm glad she lives here, so thank you all for your good care at Westleigh Lodge Care Home.

Due to recent lockdowns/Covid etc., it is hard to comment fairly on food/activities as limited visiting. However, I know from previously that activities have been good and food provision that I know of. My mother is contented and to my knowledge is treated with respect, dignity and compassion. The staff's
communication with relatives is all excellent and I am completely happy with Mum's care.

All my family are really happy that my wife (their mum) has been taken care of so well at Westleigh Lodge Care Home. Since she was moved to Westleigh two years ago, her health has shown a big improvement. All the staff are very helpful and we are so pleased with her level of care.

A very welcoming experience was shown by the staff, demonstrating loving care and attention to my brother-in-law. He is always clean and dressed well on every visit I make. The staff are always ready to help and discuss any questions you put to them. I am very happy with Westleigh Lodge Care Home and
feel reassured it was the right decision to select this care home for him. Always plenty going on to keep the residents happy, a first-class team showing 100% commitment.

My husband moved into your care home in November 2019 from another home. We soon noticed an improvement in him- he seemed happier and enjoyed seeing friends and family again. He has a good relationship with care staff, who attend to his needs with care and consideration. Due to covid restriction visits
have been limited but we have felt reassured by emails, videos and photographs sent to us.

My husband moved to Westleigh Lodge after spending 2 1/2 years in a different nursing home in Wigan. When he transferred he was not communicating or standing. He would not open his eyes or his mouth so was not eating or drinking. We thought he had 'given up'. He needs full and 100% care, and after only
24 hours was eating from a spoon and drinking. His eyes are wide open and he is trying to communicate and stand with assistance of 2 carers, we have seen a miracle. Thank you.

My nanna was moved from a different care home to Westleigh Lodge for a number of reasons. The staff here are fantastic, they invest so much time, patience and specialist care into the residents.
I can honestly say on behalf of myself and my family; that our only regret is that my nanna didn’t move
to Westleigh sooner and get to spend more time here.
The staff treated my nanna for end of life care, and we couldn’t have asked for more. Unlike previous experience, my nanna was made to look very clean and comfortable at all times, we as a family, going through a very emotional time were also very well looked after by the staff here, and nothing was too much trouble for any of them.
Some carers really did go above and beyond comforting my nanna, in ways such as singing to her and showing her care and compassion - even making meals for our family visiting. We are truly very grateful to everybody at Westleigh, and the kind, professional service they have provided. Will always be appreciated.

Since my Dad has been in this home he has been far better looked after than in the previous place he was in. They are really professional and caring, all of them seem well trained. They are courteous and help my Dad greatly, the food always looks good and nutritional and plenty of it. They are always
checking on him and I am happy to say I feel very confident in all the care he is receiving. Hope they keep up the good work.

My dad was in hospital after several falls at his previous care home. We came to view Westleigh Lodge and was pleased with everything here. When Dad was discharged from hospital and came to live here the staff were amazing! They helped my dad with tender care, patience and compassion. Nothing is too
much trouble, my dad is happier, healthier and gaining weight. Genuinely cannot find fault with the level of care he is receiving at this lovely place. Fantastic!

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.520)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.520) out of 10 for Westleigh Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.570 for Westleigh Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (127 Excellents x 5) + (82 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 214 Ratings = 4.57
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westleigh Lodge Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
