Dean Wood Manor has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.349) out of 10, based on 14 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Dean Wood Manor has 55 reviews.
Getting registered vulnerable people, with safeguarding concerns registered against the residents, to take the injured resident in hospital is just beyond inappropriate, illegal and wrong on every single level.
Since the previous manager left as Manager this care home has gone through the floor.
The team take no action, no accountability, and leave someone on a section 3 unwell from Friday night to midnight on Tuesday / Wednesday evening.
Where is the duty of care.
I am in contact with Social Care and both MPs.
The staff are amazing. My father has vascular dementia and is very well looked after . When we visit him we see how the staff are with all the residents and they are very caring and helpful to them all . Stacy gave my father a haircut, shave and cleaned him up he was very pleased with it and had us take photos of him . Also they have entertainment on sometimes including singers which my father used to do in clubs when he was younger . The home is always clean and is very secure.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We're so pleased to hear that your father is happy and well cared for by our team at Dean Woor Manor. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to Stacy, we're delighted she helped your father feel so proud after his haircut and shave. It's also lovely to know he...
I found some disruption due to changing the agency staff recently, and the new staff having to get used to the residents' needs, hopefully this has been resolved.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you sharing your experience and understand that changes in staffing can be unsettling. We're committed to providing consistent, high-quality care, and we hope you've noticed improvements. Your comments are valued and help us continue to improve.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to Jane and all her team at Dean Wood Manor who cared for mum and supported us as a family through mums final journey. The kindness, love and support shown to mum will never be forgotten. It truly is a wonderful Care Home and we will be forever grateful that mum was fast tracked back to the home from hospital to spend her final days surrounded by people who truly cared for her.
Thank you for your 5* review, your feedback is greatly appreciated!
The atmosphere is loving, welcoming and calm.
At the end of my dad's life, they asked for him to transfer from hospital so they could provide palliative care. Staff sat and had their break with him so he wouldn't be alone, he was truly loved.
They treated him with respect at all times and made a difficult time that bit easier.
On the day of his funeral, staff lined up to pay respects as the hearse took him from his home one last time.
They are an absolutely amazing, dedicated team, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Thank you Deanwood for everything you have done.
Thank you for your kind words and sharing your experience. We're so pleased our team could provide care and comfort during such a difficult time. Your feedback means a great deal to us.
Mum was officially diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in October 2022. In February 2023, she was placed in the first of 4 different Care Homes, all of which failed, due to Mum's physical and mental attitudes. Mum finally moved into Dean Wood Manor in October 2023.
The care and attention at Dean Wood Manor has led to Mum being the happiest she's ever been, since getting diagnosed with this awful disease.
Mum's general attitude can often be confrontational and difficult. All the staff at the home are so patient and kind with Mum and they can pre-empt her moods and actions and make her life more bearable. We really could not be happier with the care she's received over the past two years.
James and I are so very grateful that Mum has finally found a home at Dean Wood Manor, where she is content, with such wonderful, caring and dedicated staff, who really have her best interest at heart.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear how happy and settled your mum is at Deanwood Manor. Our team are passionate about providing kind, person-centred care, and it means so much to know this has made a difference.
Both of my parents have been residents in other care homes in the Wigan area but nothing has compared to Dean Wood Manor. My Mum has been there for many years and my Dad was there until his passing in June. The staff are amazing and they really care for the welfare, health and wellbeing of the residents. They plan and monitor meticulously and I saw a marked improvement in Dad especially from the first few weeks of being there. They really are exceptional and communicate effectively with loved ones which is especially important for me and my brother as both live abroad. I can't recommend Dean Wood enough.
Thank you for your kind words. We're delighted to know our care and support made a positive difference for your family.
My mum is well looked after at Dean Wood Manor. Her Alzheimer's is advanced and she can no longer communicate her needs. However the staff do everything they can to anticipate them.
Thank you for your kind words. Hearing your mum is well looked after at Dean Wood is amazing to hear. Knowing our team can anticipate your mums needs makes us so proud. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review.
I find Dean Wood Manor very well run it is always spotless, the staff are brilliant very caring and always have time for the people they are caring for, and brilliant with my husband I know he is in the best place thanks to the Manager and all the staff
Thank you so much for your amazing review. We are thrilled to hear that you find the staff at Dean Wood Manor are caring and always having the time for those in their care. It means so much to us that you have trusted us with the care of your husband and that the home manager and staff have made a safe, welcoming environment for your husband.
My only criticism would be the standard of the tea beverage served at some meals. I understand that it cannot be overly hot due to health and safety reasons but sometimes it is very weak and insipid.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear that your mum is happy and settled with us and that your family is pleased with the level of care she has received. We truly appreciate your kind words. We also value your feedback regarding the beverages we provide and I have passed this feedback on to the relevant person to look into this.
My wife has been a resident for 9 months and I am very pleased with her care, she is settled in the home and is calm and relaxed in her surroundings. Everywhere is very clean, all the staff are diligent, welcoming and especially caring. Special thanks to the Activities Coordinator who goes out of her way to get residents involved and is so enthusiastic in everything she does. I would confidently recommend the home to anyone.
Thank you so much for your kind and detailed review. We are delighted to hear that your wife is happy and settled at Dean Wood Manor. It is heartwarming to know that you have noticed the care, cleanliness and dedication of our staff. We are particularly pleased that our Activities Coordinator has made such a positive impact.
The home is excellent, staff always kind, and they treat everyone like family. Mum's room was always clean, but most importantly, Mum was looked after from day one. Even at the end, they stood outside when Mum made her final journey; I will never forget what they did for us from the beginning to the end. Thank you, Dean Wood Manor.
Thank you very much for your heartfelt review, it is appreciated and your thanks will be conveyed to the whole team at Dean Wood Manor. Kind regards
Cleaners do a very good job and are hard workers. As is everyone else. I have never had any complaints or disagreements with any of the staff and my wife is very happy there.
Thank you for your 5* ratings and comments, we appreciate that you have taken the time to review Dean Wood Manor and good to know that your wife is happy. Kind regards.
I find the manager to be excellent with the people, she is very caring. The staff are also very good. They always make me a cuppa, I think that it is a happy home, and I am so grateful that they care for my husband.
Thank you very much for your review and your kind words, which are very much appreciated. Kind regards.
My partner was accepted into the home on the understanding he couldn't walk, the wonderful staff within two days had him walking, which was wonderful to see. The level of care he receives is outstanding, all the lovely staff go way above and beyond to help him even when his behaviour is difficult. He is always dressed, clean and tidy. The manager does an exceptional job always helpful and goes out of her way for her residents and also the visitors. I am so grateful my partner was able to go to this wonderful home. Would definitely recommend.
What a wonderful review, thank you very much for sharing your experience of the care and support provided by the team at Dean Wood Manor. Kind regards.
At first we, as a family, were worried that this move wouldn’t be for her as she has had issues in a previous home but we have had no concerns at all. She spends time in the communal areas and engages in activities with the other residents.
We are thankful for all the staff's support in making this such a smooth transition.
Thank you very much for your wonderful 5* review and comments, they are very much appreciated by the team at the home. Kind regards.
From the moment you walk in you are met with smiles and friendliness from the manager to the caretaker! Always informative to talk to and their interactions with residents is absolutely first-class. The residents have obvious love and respect for the care staff and is a joy to behold! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dean Wood Manor to anyone.
Thank you for your review and I want to thank you for your kind comments regarding the team at Dean Wood Manor. They work so hard to ensure that our residents are happy, safe and well and for you to say their interactions are 'first class' is a high recommendation indeed. Kind regards.
