Willow Gardens care home is known for its person-centred care and warm, family feel, with some team members having over 10 years’ experience. The home offers residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance.

Life at Willow Gardens is vibrant, with activities including animal visits, crafts and gardening in the mini allotment, where residents grow fruit and vegetables for the chef to use in meals. Pamper sessions with manicures and hand massages are popular, and the home has a hair salon for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

Community connections are strong, with regular visits from Prince’s Trust volunteers and local students. Residents attend events at the local college, enjoy weekly trips to the cricket club for comedy, music and dance, and go shopping at The Strand Shopping Centre nearby. There are also outings to Chester Zoo, Blackpool and the local safari park. Weekly Holy Communion is held at the home.
Dining is a highlight, with home-cooked meals and baking for afternoon tea. Residents help shape menus through feedback and tasting sessions and enjoy cocktail and mocktail making. Families are welcome anytime and can stay connected via a private Facebook page.

The home has recently undergone an impressive refurbishment, creating beautifully decorated bedrooms and welcoming lounges for relaxation and activities.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

Willow Gardens has achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community. The VFF is a collaboration between Royal Star & Garter, Royal British Legion and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

I cannot speak highly enough of the excellent care my mother is receiving at Willow Gardens, she is bed-bound and always looks clean and comfortable, her every need is met by professional, dedicated and friendly staff, not only do they look after her so well but always make me feel very welcome and
keep me informed of her care and welfare.
The care home itself is very well led and organised, it always looks spotlessly clean and I believe the food choice and quality are excellent.
I am very grateful to all the staff for Mum's care and would not hesitate to recommend Willow Gardens to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

All the staff are very friendly and stop and chat to my mother. The room is clean, the laundry is done very quickly and my mother is comfortable and well looked after. Any requests that my mum has are always accommodated and it feels like she is listened to. She is happy at Willow Gardens.

My mum has been at Willow Gardens for almost three months and she couldn't be happier with the care she has received. Her whole demeanour has improved and she is beginning to take care of her appearance again. The entire team of staff are outstanding and show a genuine interest and caring towards my
mum and she thoroughly enjoys the friendly, good-natured banter. She has regular baths/showers (which she didn't in her previous care home) and wears clean clothes every day. Her room and the home in general is clean and well maintained and feels like a home from home. There are plenty of activities for the residents to enjoy and the manager and staff get fully involved in dressing up and entertaining. I am so pleased that I chose this care home, I can relax and feel confident that my mum is being well looked after.

The staff were all very welcoming and helped Mum to settle into her new home quickly and were always welcoming to us too. The care Mum received at Willow Gardens was good and anything asked of the staff or management was never any bother and was always followed up and communicated back. The team at
Willow Gardens were professional, friendly and approachable, and more importantly, really kind to Mum. We were given so much support in such a difficult situation and would have no hesitation recommending Willow Gardens. In my opinion, it definitely outshines all the other care/nursing homes in the area.

My sisters and I could not have been happier for the care and love received over the last few years at Willow Gardens. Mum herself said how kind everyone was to her. We feel so fortunate Mum was placed here as it was during Covid. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to you all for your dedication
and hard work.

I cannot thank the staff at Willow Gardens enough for the love and care shown to my mum in her final few months. There is a real family feel inside the nursing home and that is all down to the beautiful people who work there. My aunty is still a resident there and I really enjoy catching up with all
the staff whenever I visit, I think of them as friends now. I would highly recommend Willow Gardens to anyone, it is a lovely place.

My friend had needed professional nursing care for quite a while. When she came to Willow Gardens she was obviously frightened as, due to her illness, is nonverbal and immobile. The staff here have been amazing in taking care of all of my friend's needs. Things have gone from strength to strength. My
friend is gaining weight and is always being checked in by the staff, her health is getting much better. Thank you.

Mum came into Willow Gardens at the start of December. The care she has received has been exceptional. She has put on weight, her pressure sore she came in with has greatly improved and as a whole, she is very happy there. All staff are very friendly, they all take time to converse with mum and myself.
They ensure mum is comfortable and has what she needs. The home itself is beautiful, all newly refurbished. Cannot give enough praise.

I have given excellent for Willow Gardens on 19th November 2023. My mum has been here for two years and I can honestly say it's the best home she has ever been in. The staff are lovely, kind and caring. The manager is excellent, professional, kind and caring. My mum's room has been renovated this year
has all brand new furniture and will be getting a brand new bed soon. My mum is always beautifully looked after always clean and well presented. The home is beautifully decorated and has a homely atmosphere. A home from home. I can sleep well at night knowing she has first-class care.

When Mum went to Willow Gardens in June 2023, as a family, and for mum it was very hard as her life has changed as ours have to. It certainly wasn't a easy decision but Mum needs 24 hour care with everything mobility, dressing, toilet needs. We did have a few teething problems at it but I and my sisters
addressed them straight away. The manager was lovely, very professional and listened to us and always approachable. I am happy with Mum's care and all the carers. Nothing is too much trouble for them and Mum is fussy with her food, then again the chef is always on hand to discuss her likes and dislikes. Willow Gardens is always clean, decorated nice and lovely and warm as mum feels the cold like a lot of residents. There is good banter with carers residents and families.

My friend moved into Willow Gardens Residental and Nursing Home a couple of months ago. I cannot praise the staff, management and maintenance enough. They can't do enough for you always smiling on every visit, even the resident's families are all kind. The decor is absolutely lovely feels like home
from home. The food is excellent, my friend had a little appetite now she is eating very well now and has enjoyed getting to know everyone. A beautiful care home.

I'm so pleased I can't use any names as each and every one of the carers, or angels as I like to call them, were absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have wished for my husband to be looked after any better. On leaving him at night I knew he was in good care. You should be proud of Willow Gardens.

Mum went to Willow Gardens straight from hospital for end-of-life care. We couldn't have wished for a better place. It exceeded all our expectations. We are so grateful to all the staff for looking after our Mum till she passed away. The care shown was genuine, not just to the residents but to the families
as well. We were welcomed whenever we visited, we felt cared for too. Spotlessly clean, bright and comfortable, lovely meals and a kind and cheerful workforce, willing and able to spend time with everyone. The residents were happy and content, you can't make the atmosphere calm and relaxed unless it actually is. Our mum was comfortable and settled and always had a smile on her face! If you can secure a place at Willow Gardens, please accept it, you will not be disappointed. Your loved one will not only be looked after but cared for. This is definitely a place to call home even if it's only for a short time. We would like to thank the manager and all the staff again for their care and kindness during Mum's final months. We greatly appreciate you all.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.714) out of 10 for Willow Gardens Residential and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Willow Gardens Residential and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (189 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 255 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willow Gardens Residential and Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
