Overall Experience

Our mother permanently joined Green Heys in the middle of 2024, suffering from Dementia and following a series of falls and hospitalisation that left her movement impaired. Mum's dementia deteriorated rapidly unfortunately and her needs became very complex. The manager took time to explain things thoroughly and she and her team were marvellous from the very beginning, making Mum feel comfortable and ensuring all her needs were catered for. The family were also supported along what became a very difficult journey, being kept informed regularly about Mum's illness and care and any decisions that had to be made. Both carers and nurses were amazing and couldn't do enough for Mum or the family. They endeavoured to include her in the many activities and entertainment that were provided and that kept her spirits up. Mum's passing was ultimately very quick but the care both she and the family received at a very difficult time was outstanding. We cannot thank you enough for all you did.

My wonderful dad was moved here for end-of-life care, maybe 5-6 weeks ago. I was devastated his deterioration was very quick from dementia, a spell in hospital (where the care was appalling) aided this rapid condition. However my dad came here, and during his last weeks he was made to feel extremely comfortable. I cannot express enough how wonderful all the staff were, I wish I was able to name names. Not only did the staff look after my dad they looked after us as a family. For the last 3-4 days of my dad's life we didn't move from his side. We had endless supplies of tea, coffee, sandwiches and above all - love and care. What an amazing team of people that made a heartbreaking journey easier. I thank each and every one of you for your support and love shown to my mother, myself and my brother. I cannot praise them enough.

My dad has been resident at Green Heys since last year. It wasn’t an easy decision moving to a care home, but he’s happy and well cared for. His physical health needs are well cared for by the nurses. We are always made to feel welcome and the home is clean and tidy. Would like him to be encouraged more to participate in activities and maybe more going on, but overall we are happy.

My dad was only here 8 weeks and he passed away. We moved him from another home because that was awful to here. We are still waiting for answers and this nursing home is currently under investigation. Family heartbroken.

We have lost trust in care homes in the UK. They should be community owned not privately owned, seems to be about profit not care.

My sister was sent home from hospital with end of life medication. We were told the end would be within the next week. I am happy to say that following the incredible care she has received at Kemp Lodge she now looks happier and healthier than she has in the last 5 years. As I write this we are five months on from her hospital discharge.
